Synopsis: Sacred Fire
Pokemon fanfiction, but certainly not like the cartoon.
Excerpt: Sacred Fire
More than fifty years ago, an ambitious scientist from the Kanto region of the world built a vast underground lab deep within the mountains. Within this vast stronghold, he and a few loyal assistants conducted myriad experiments on local wildlife – Pokemon that they had captured. At first, the Pokemon were common species – Pikachu, Rattata, and Pidgeots. But over time, the scientist expanded his collection to include the rarer, more powerful Pokemon from all over Kanto, Johto and the great Hoenn region. Many perished in his attempts to capture them, fighting even the most powerful of Pokeballs, so that only PNA – the creatures’ DNA-equivalent – remained: valuable eggs and sperm.
The scientist took these samples from both the dead and the living, putting them into special tubes. Over many sleepless nights and mornings, he labored, separating the critical aspects of the PNA. And only when the necessary components were available, he added something special – something that would lead to his vilification among not only the scientific community, but humanity at large.
He added human DNA.
Long ago, in his youth, this scientist had a dream: What would the world be like if it were populated with the best combination of human intelligence and ingenuity and the special powers of Pokemon? As he grew older, and saw the cruelty of the world, his dream only made more sense – humanity was cold, enslaving Pokemon for their bloodsport amusements. If the Pokemon had humanlike representatives among them, the stealing, the corruptions of nature, the combats performed for the entertainment of the masses, would cease.
If the Pokemon had their say.
