Brief Author Bio:

I grew up in Michigan, graduated from college with a BA in political science, married my husband a month after college graduation, lived in Indiana for two years while my husband went through grad school, and moved to Des Moines, IA where my husband got his first real job. I'm a writer and November has become my favorite month of the year.

Synopsis: "Live In Infamy"

Jim H is descended from a super A.I. that can travel through dimensions other than the third dimension. On his way to continue the propagation and evolution of his species he discovers that he may have accidentally traveled into the far past. Jim's first introduction to humanity is a woman of the '90s (that's 2090s) named Natty who is on a mission of her own. Through their adventures together Jim comes face to face with the mystery of his own existence and a secret that could destroy life itself. Now he must overcome his apathy toward humanity and commit himself to its rescue -- even at the expense of his own life.

“I have good news Jim,” said Natty as she pushed through the door into her apartment.

Jim was sitting at her table wearing his coat.

“You’ve been hired,” said Natty. She reached out the envelope toward Jim.

Jim rose and shook his head. “That’s all well and good Natty, but I have to leave now.”

“Jim, I thought you wanted to stay.”

Jim sighed. “Something happened to rush along my own mission. I can’t dally about helping you with yours. I’ve other things to do. You have repaid me in full. I saved your life, you got me to the mainland. That’s all I ever asked.”

Natty remained with her arm outstretched the envelope now wrinkled in her hand. She could not think of any words that might begin to describe the moment.

“Maybe I’ll meet up with you again someday,” said Jim.

“Jim, I thought you were going to stay.”

“I made it clear to you that I just needed to get as far inland as possible. From the start. Now goodbye.”

Jim picked up a bag he had brought with him from Hawaii and brushed past Natty. He walked down the hall. Natty heard his feet on the steps after he turned the corner. He had not even given her a way to contact him. She turned slowly to stare at the empty hallway where Jim had just been. She did not even know his last name. Natty pushed herself away from the yawning doorway with all its possibilities. She slammed her door shut and locked it. In one motion Natty hurled the crumpled letter into the trash can. She sank down on the seat Jim had left a few moments before. She had believed her short relationship with Jim to be stable and she had been wrong. She shook her head. Jim was impossible to read. She knew he was not human, but surely he could not be that different from the other men she had known. Apparently she was wrong. He was entirely different. Natty pressed her fists into her eyes to keep the tears from coming. The strange thing was, as she stemmed her tears, the image in her head was Grimm’s not Jim’s.
