Excerpt: The Hydra, The Wizard and Kay
There was a hydra in the kitchen. The kitchen was usually where Herman was to be found, actually; as he frequently pointed out to Nik, the magician he shared a house with, “I might only have one stomach, but it’s a large one. Besides, a meal spread between seven heads doesn’t go very far.” Nik would inevitably snort, his response to just about everything, and say something disparaging about how too much food made it difficult to think clearly. To this Herman would just as inevitably retort that with seven separate brains his thinking processes were likely rather better than Nik’s, large appetite or not...
