Southeast Alabama-Dothan area anybody?

Hey, this is just a shout out to anybody in the Southeast region of the state. I hope I'm not all alone here. There does not seem to be much activity in the Southeast region in writing. I'm hoping to get something started down here.

Welcome Northwestern Florida and Western Georgia as well.

Please make a comment and let me know there is someone-anyone else out there in the area involved in NaNoWriMo or writing.

So, any other Jacksonville State University students or Jacksonville area writers out there NaNoing this year? I know there were a few last year but as far as I know there was never really a group or anything.

I think I've managed to drag a few others from the JSU Writers' Club into this chaos with me! So, aspiring novelists of Jacksonville, let's try to form a support network here eh?

For those that are writing on a word program that does not have a word counter, this web site is pretty good it registers a lttle higher than word does, my word doc was 5097 it posted 5119 So if you are going to use it expect that the NANO validation program to put a little bit lower number.

What do you plan on writing this year? What topic, genre, etc? Do you even have anything in mind?

I’m going with Sci-Fi this year. Same as last year actually, but that turned into a miserable experience that we shall not talk about. I’m still not over it.

It's time for another glorious NaNo! I can't wait to see and hear from you all. To the newbies, welcome! To those returning, welcome back! Congrats to everyone who finished last year, and also to those who didn't--at least you tried. No matter what your history with NaNo, this November will be a fresh start for all of us.

First, we have our own region now! Go to the Auburn, Alabama Regional Forum and start posting! People from nearby/surrounding areas are welcome too, of course!

Second, there's the matter of write-ins and such. The meeting place will continue to be the Cambrige cafe downtown, and write-ins will be held Sundays and Wednesdays. Dates and times are on the calendar in the Auburn Regional Forum.

Third...how is everyone? Feeling good? Who's got story ideas already? Characters? Plots? Don't worry if you don't, I'm still working on those things myself.

I am Kurt Welte from Dothan AL, the new ML for the Dothan region. I hope that all who feel a connection to the Wiregrass area will sign up for this region and hopefully we can provide support and encouragement to help each other battle through to the end of the tenth anniversary challenge of NANOWRIMO.

What events are planned for Dothan during November? Is there one planned on Saturday 11/1? I will be down in Dothan in the morning and early afternoon and would like to come meet the Dothan WriMos if you all are doing something then. I have never done Nano before, in part because I don't write fiction. I spotted the "Rebel" thread, though and so I have signed up. The thing that I most frequently see myself doing is writing through a difficult, unresolved issue. I don't see myself sharing that with anybody in real life, which leaves me a little torn, because I am feeling a kind of hunger for the fellowship of writers. May have to settle for virtual this time around, but maybe I'll have cheerier things to write about next year.

Keep in mind - Auburn and Troy both have MLs, so you're probably better off there if you live there, unless there are extenuating circumstances (for example, you go to college in Auburn and Troy, but your permanent residence is in Montgomery, and you intend to play hookey for an entire month so you can get this novel done*)

We will have a meeting in conjuction with the Central Alabama Writers Group (which I, coincidentally, am also involved with) on October 20, and we'll plan another one before Nov. 1, if people express interest. CAWG is at www.randomkeystrike.net
