Meetings in Windsor . . . A thought

That actually sounds good. At this point I have no objections and being my first year I'll cede the decision to the veterans.

Ok, then, I'll post more information closer to the start. :)

Do people want to meet a week before?

It's been Monday nights at the Coffee Exchange since I started, I think, so I don't necessarilty expect to be able to change it... but I work 'til midnight and only have Thursdays and Fridays off. :(
Although, if you're thinking the meetings might run late, I could drop in on Mondays at ten after twelve, heheh.

Hmm . . if we can change it, we will. . . If not, feel free to show up if you can, (though the meetings have never gone past 10pm.)

Anyone else got a day that works for them? The only night I can't come is Thurs.

Monday was my best, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are also okay, but I cannot do Fridays. I tabletop game with my friends every Friday.

Alright, not to worry. I like the prospect of having an excuse to take a couple Mondays off work. ;)

There's also a nice coffee shop in LaSalle (on Malden Road, in a little complex across from the Shoppers' Drug Mart) that opened up last spring. If all of you are located around the University, that might be a bit of a trek, but it has really good coffee and baked goods, and is a nice space (comfy chairs and a fireplace, in addition to cafe tables and benches along the walls). It was never super busy in the summer, so it would probably be a place that a group could meet quite comfortably.

And, it's actually not that far to get to from downtown: take Riverside (or University) west until it turns into Sandwich Road, then Sandwich turns into Ojibway (past the water treatment plant; not the most scenic, but most direct). Turn right at Ojibway/Front Road/EC Row (it's a T there), then left at the McD, on Sprucewood (just past the racectrack), then right on Malden, and it's a few blocks down on the right. From the casino to the coffeshop is about 10 minutes.

Anyway, I'm only in Windsor with family in the summers, so I miss out on meeting up with you guys every year (but still like to lurk in your threads ;> )! But if you feel like venturing out toward LaSalle, now you know where to go. :>

Oh, and is there parking? I'd have to drive and parallel parking is my arch nemesis.

Only think about meeting out there (and I do know roughly where it is), is that that's awkward for those of us who can't drive. (and I know there are a few, myself included). Though you can get there by bus, it's a real pain, as that bus only runs once an hour. It does sound cool, though -- maybe we could set up a carpool or something

Hmm. . . I'd still like to meet at the Coffee Exchange -- I'm offering it up simply because it's the easiest to get to in terms of being a bit more central then LaSalle -- and it's almost right on the bus stop, about a block from the transit terminal.

I have no preference as to where we meet. I’m in Tecumseh, so no matter where we choose, I’ll have to make a bit of a drive to get there. I’m more than willing to carpool/pick people up if they’re on the way or are willing to chip in a buck or two for gas.

The Coffee Exchange sounds like the best spot because it has been used in previous years and it is more central. Anyone mind giving me directions there?

And any idea as to what time we'd meet? 8pm? 9pm?

Ok. I was thinking about meeting just before NaNo starts, if people want. How about this Monday, at 7?

This is cool :). I just decided last night to sign up--this is my first NaNo, though I've been wanting to do it for a couple of years. The Exchange is a twenty-minute walk from my house, so I'll definitely show up one of these Mondays. You meet at 7? And do you meet and write, meet and talk about writing, what?

Whatever you want. It usually is just talking while we drink our drinks at a window table, but if you want to write go ahead!

I love The Coffee Exchange, best coffee shop in windsor in my opinion. If I miss a Monday or two, forgive, but I'd love to try meeting with other Wrimos to talk! And the shop has wifi so if I totally block in my brain I can connect my PSP to the NaNo forum for help.

This time out was more bouncing plot ideas, working through stuff, (as well as a lot of just fun, random discussion). If people come and want to write, thats cool. . . it's sort of dictated by what people want to do.

Oh, shoot... I meant to come out tonight, but work got away with me and I totally forgot. Were people there?

I went, no one was there though. I stayed until 8:20. The ladies were nice enough not to kick me out as I fell asleep.:P

I didn't make it because I was too busy and exhausted from a day of housework.

It seems like life is conspiring against me finishing my NaNo novel. But I'll come next Monday and hopefully I'll have gotten more than a day's writing to show for it.

I'm sorry I wasn't there, but I was stuck in a human rights class for my new job. I can be there next week though if others are going

Hoping to show up tomorrow night. Did we come up with some way to identify each other? Or do we just walk in and look for the people whose typing fingers are twitching around enormous cups of coffee?

Someone should bring something that says NaNoWriMo like the hat from the one week, I will not be showing as my dad is punishing me for jobs undone, I shall show up the week after however.

I'm so behind in my word count, maybe I shouldn't bother. But I'll try to come tonight. 7 right? Maybe being with other NaNoWriMos will help me jump-start my inspiration.

But then again, I've picked a grand daddy of a challenge for myself, so its not something I have any half of hope of catching up to everyone else with. Lol.

I think Maxis is coming again, and he's the one with the NaNo hat. :)

If not, I'll be at the front of the shop, with my laptop.
