I've never quite been sure why there's so much competitiveness between Melbourne and Sydney. I know historically they both vied to be the national capital, but I hardly think those sentiments are pounding in people's veins today. Is there anything as interesting as a point to the competition, or is it just the good ol' "My music collection can beat up your music collection!" mindset?

(goes over to Facebook and joins 'NaNoWriMo Sydney is up to the challenge')
I have nothing against Melbourne - but if it's war that some of their NaNoWriMoers want, then war they shall get.
Melbourne shall fail, because Sydney (Australia's premier city) will prevail :)

I'm not a facebook fan, or user, so I'm not likely to join in. I will, however, add my two cents: There is no way Melbourne can beat us in this competition of theirs.
Whether we win or lose, they still live in Melbourne.

Yep, I'm in. Melbornites have always had nervous seams in their pants (as in too big for their britches), so it's time to show them that pants are for the weak... or somesuch. O.o

Pants are for the weak, Ray... I like that.
Down with Melbournites! They're stealing my best friend, who's moving in a few weeks!
Though everyone should know, no matter how much animosity our suburbs share, it's not as bad as Sydeny vs. Queensland. Damn queenies, think they're so good cuz they have the sunshine coast... mumble mumble grumble mutter...

I think Melbourne has got this in the bag to be honest. There city is so much less interesting than ours, so they have alot less to do.

Yeah, but we have at least 2 people willing to write as many words as possible (I'm aiming for at least 2 stories, thus the 14-day challange with Maxtac), so I will be throwing my weight in!

They've thrown it down in WriMo Radio!!
Melbourne have gone one better than me. Rather than throw it down at the KO party against merely the ML, Melbourne has gone NaNo-Global over WriMo Radio, against us. Next Year, if they continue on, They will go after the rest of the world!! We must take them out and take their thrones (mainly because I want that shiny golden throne, but still...)
We Have Got to Beat These Guys! We must take the challange to them, and take the title of biggest-pants from them ("pants are for the weak!" indeed.) and beat them. Yeah!!

You may, if you wish, have the biggest pants.
Here in Melbourne, we like our pants (among other things) form-fitting and sleek.
