My main character, Richard Sterling is a small town auto mechainc. The plot weaves around his relationships with his customers and their relationships with their cars.

What funy car trouble have you ever had?

PS...It's ok if you make it up, nobody will ever know.

Example-I drove my 1989 Ford LTD into a pond as a teenager while on a joy ride. I had to have it towed out. After the
"pond" incident the horn honked intermittently, and without warning all the time.

This hasn't happened to me, but it did to some of my neighbors - small animals (squirrels, usually) take up residence inside the guts of a car that hadn't been driven in a few months.

Something similar happened with my mom's car. We had been out all day looking at housing developments because my parents found that to be fun. We parked outside one of the show houses and got out of the car. I shut my door and I heard this peeping noise coming from somewhere under the car. I didn't know what it was. My dad crawled underneath the car and found a Mocking bird nest resting nicely on the top of our gas tank. We had probably driven all over town plus some with a nest of three baby birds on top. Normally birds only do this to cars that have been stationary for a long time and this car had not been.

When we got home, my dad carefully removed the nest and placed it as securely as possible in a juniper tree in our front yard. The parents found the babies, but sadly, they died later. I think it was from all the gas fumes.

My mom's car had some issues a while back. Random check engine lights and such would light up constantly. And if you've ever had any of the more unusual lights come on - they're incredibly cryptic. So she's a fairly cautious and insecure driver, and so a light would come on and I would be flipping through the manual trying to find out what the meaning of it was. An exagerated scenario of that has some potential...
