Lake County Wrap up Gathering - NaNoWriMo

First of all, if you get this message three times, I apologize. I sent the e-mail twice and have not received a copy in my e-mail. So I am posting as a forum. Just trying to cover all the bases! Betsy

Okay everyone! This is it! Our last gathering for 2008 is upon us. We are meeting tomorrow night 6-9 p.m., at Panera Bread in the Kohl's Plaza in Mentor at the intersection of Route 20 and Johnnycake Ridge Road.

For those of you who have not yet submitted to me the date on which you hit 50,000 words, please send it prior to 5 pm Tuesday 12-9, otherwise someone else might get the highly coveted prize of a 2008 NaNoWriMo Author's Travel Mug! I need to know ahead of time. I'll be handing it out at the gathering if possible.

If you let me know the date you made 50K but can't make it to the gathering...I will request your snail mail address to send you the prize...IF you are the lucky winner!

I will also send out an e-mail announcing the winner to the whole group...so all will treat you with awe and wonder the next time they see you!

Come on out to the gathering. It doesn't matter if you hit 50K or not. We will celebrate, we will commiserate, we will start deciding what to write next year!

Look for me in the main area...we will not be in the meeting room. No laptops are required, since this is not a write-in.

Gatherings scheduled for Lake County Wrimos!

Okay everyone. I know you're waiting for a list of meetings with bated breath!

Kick off will be Monday, October 27 at Panera East (Kohl's Plaza) in the back
room from 6-9 p.m.

Morley Library will host Tuesday, November 4 in the board room (note the room!)

Morley will be a voting site on Nov. 11; therefore, we will be unable to meet
there. (working on finding a place for this week)

Morley Library will host Tuesday, November 18 in the board room (note the room!)

Morley Library will host Tuesday, November 25 in the meeting room (note the
room!)

Wrap-up celebration will be Wednesday, December 3 at Arabica in Willoughby from
6-9

You can meet informally with each other as many times as you would like during
the month. It was suggested that we meet at "Your Vine or Mine" on Main St. in
Painesville. I have no problem with this for the informal meets, but because we
have all age groups involved, and "Your Vine or Mine" serves only wine and
bottled water and cheese and crackers, it is not appropriate for our scheduled
meetings. Matter of fact, I may be at "Your Vine or Mine" on Thursday nights
myself and would love for anyone from the group to join me.

I will be there from 5:30 - 8 pm on Monday, providing the storm doesn't strand everybody.

I-90 to Rt 11 N.
Exit at Rt 20, turn LEFT.
Right onto Lake Rd (just over 1 mi- immediately after YMCA)
At 5th Ave/Bridge Street, Turn Right. (stoplight just past Lakeway Restaurant)

I will be there on Friday from 12:00 until ? -- They close at 5.

Well, we are in Day 2. How are your word counts coming along? DO NOT be scared off by Charlie's excessive word count! He's half way to the 50K goal already and is an entity unto himself! The rest of us are normal, well, as normal as one can be when trying to write a 50K word novel in 30 days!

Tip of the Day....post your word counts! Believe it or not, this simple exercise can keep you going when you feel like you can't possibly achieve the goal. Trust me when I say, it is achievable! And if you hit the 50K word mark before the end of November, please post it here in the regional posts!

Also, on the region page for Lake County, Just above the list of posts, there is a link to the Lake County Calendar of Events. I have posted our official start and end gatherings, our official Morley Library gatherings and our unofficial Thursday night gatherings at Your Vine or Mine in Painesville (mentioned in a previous e-mail to the group). If you want to have an unofficial gathering somewhere else and can arrange it, I will post it on the calendar for all to see. Just e-mail me with the details.

Crazy Talk: All in One Day

Hello everyone.

Found a forum last year where people were very insane and decided to try to write the first (or all) 50,000 words in one day. Thought I'd be crazy and see how far I could get by giving it a shot.

Who's with me?

Who thinks I'm nuts?

And don't think this doesn't mean I won't be hitting the wine place on thursdays...after all, the more I drink...the more I write!

It's almost November! Are we all ready to write? I am so pleased to have 40 affiliates in our Lake County Region this year! Please try to take advantage of the gatherings and write-ins! Talking with like-minded Nano-ites can be invigorating and inspiring! Just remember, in order to become a big Nano winner, you need to write 50,000 words in the month of November. It seems daunting, but it's really only 1667 words per day! I know you can do that...heck you probably text and e-mail that much every day without even thinking about it!

So steel your resolve, gird your loins, put extra padding on your computer chair, lay in a huge supply of coffee or other caffeine-laden libation and cancel your appointments for November! You really can write an entire novel in 30 days! So just do it!

New to NaNoWriMo

Greetings all...
This is my first year doing this, so I just wanted to say "Hello" to all the other writers here in Lake county. Name's Janine.
I'm a little nervous about this whole 50,000 words thing, since I've never attempted to write anything that big before, but I figured that now is the time to try. It will be nice to have some motivation from others to keep me going. :-)
So... I look forward to getting to know some of you!

I am trying to find out if a Lake County group is set up and where for this year....anyone know of anything? Last year we met at Morley Library in Painesville...Thanks! Looking forward to this year's challenge.
