Anyone besides me floating around out there wanting to write a novel in the great city of Poky?

yep, this is year 2 for me, but last year I didn't start until like the last two weeks. Luckily, I got a pretty beastly short story written.

I'm here! :) I ML'd last year for Poky, but have too much IRL crap going on to manage it this year. :(

We should still try to do a get-together at least once or twice, though!

Hey guys, I'm still here, and doing the Nano agian, just haven't been able to get into the forums for like a week! I'd love to attend a kick off if there is one planned. But as Pipi may recall from last year, I perfer to stay home at my computer for write-ins, besides this year my hubby is working days.

I'm from Poky! This is my first year and I'm a bit nervous about it.

I'm here in Poky! This will be my first year doing this. I am excited and it will be nice to write something for myself for a change. What genre is everyone writing in? I'm going to be doing humor. Good luck and have fun!

I'm writing horror/thriller (apparently) I just started this morning, and am going with the whole "by the seat of my pants" approach. (Outlines? bah! who needs outlines ;))

Just try to get as much of a lead on your word count as you can this week! Write some every day, no matter what. It helps.

You can do it!

Mine is fantasy. So far I have about 700 words and a shaky idea of where I'm going with it, but mostly I'm just going to make it up as I go.

I'm up to almost 1100 words. I thought I'd have a much harder time with it, but it's actually a lot of fun. My sister called to check up on me and see where I was at and she was quite surprised!

How is everyone else doing?

I'm off and running on a romance, though I'm seriously rethinking the comedy part, but that's just because i don't think I can pull it off.

So, is anyone up for a write-in next weekend? I think it would be fun to meet you all! How's everyone coming on their writing?

I've got over 10k, and I wouldn't mind meeting everyone, but, as I don't do as well writing long hand, I'm going skip any write-ins. Maybe we can have a wrap party at the end of the month.

Wow. 10k, huh? That's awesome!

I'm up for a wrap party or something. I'm hoping to have the 50k completed by the weekend after Thanksgiving. Sometimes I find it a bit hard to keep the distractions away while writing, though, so that may be harder than I thought. This is my first year and so far it's been a lot of fun!

I'm hoping to reach 50k before Thanksgiving. Between Thanksgiving on the 22nd and the Parade of Lights on the 23rd, I have more than enough going then.

My novel is, um, er, fantasy, I mean, no, romance, I mean, ummm....

I think it's fiction:P Having a write-in or whatever sometime sounds fun. I don't if I'd be able to go to any since my schedule's ridiculous, though.

Yay for noveling!

I could go to a write in if it's in the evening or on a weekend, otherwise I'd get nothing done if I had to drag 3 kids three and younger with me lol. I wouldn't do much writing since I don't have a laptop and hating writing by hand, but I could work on outlining my plot and characters and stuff :D or maybe just make some doodles for fun.

I'd love to do write-in too, but my schedule is nuts (working graveyards fri, sat, and sun.) I could maybe do something either in the mornings after i get off work, or later in the evenings before i have to go work. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a place to meet?

Well, last night I reached 10,000 words. I saved the file on my flash drive as well as on my laptop. Today both files are corrupted. I honestly don't know if I have the heart to start over.

Oh no! Is there any way for you to repair the files? My first 2,000 words got corrupted the first time I saved it but I was able to get it back by clicking the open box, clicking the file once, then selecting "open and repair" from the "Open" drop down box.

I just reached 10,000 words and am heading to bed :)

We've tried everything. It looks like I've either got to give up or start over. I don't know if I've got it in me. It puts me way behind on my word count.

Oh, that sucks! I know it must be discouraging, but it's completely possible to finish, even starting late - the first year I did it, I started on about the tenth of the month and got through to 50 K.

You'll just have to increase your daily word count goal a bit, or have a couple of really productive days. (I'm usually pretty slow-and-steady in my approach, but I've had one or two days in past years where I will have an explosion and have a 5000 -9000 word day.

You can do it!

Goloptious,

I know how discouraging this can be, I once lost over 25k of a novel. For some reason the computer didn't save the changes, though I clicked save. It was good writing too!

But you know what, the stuff I wrote to replace it was even better. :)

Don't give up! It happenes to the best of us.

BonnieLe

PS I finished that novel only a few weeks after that lose.

Okay. You guys have talked me back into it. I'm taking a deep breath and cancelling life for the next couple of weeks. I will go to work (only because I have to, go home, write like the wind, and sleep as little as humanly possible.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I am at 4,892 words! It was a long day. But now I'm just about halfway back. A few more days and I think I'll be back on track.

Alrighty - Just a bit of organizational stuff - Let me know when the best time for write-ins for you are Weekend mornings or evenings, what (if any) days during the week, etc.

I can't promise to be able to accomodate everyone's schedule, and my schedule's pretty crazy as it is, but I'll do my best to try and get write-ins scheduled so that most people can at least make it to one or two. My write-in venue of preference is the College Market, but let me know if you have any preferences you'd like me to check into.

Evenings (except Wed) and Saturdays work best for me so I won't have to bring the kids.

I'm up for a write-in! Saturdays are best for me. Anytime will really work for me. Also, I could do evenings on the weekdays if that's good for anyone else. As for a venue, I have no ideas. Normally I write at home or the library.

Can't wait to meet up!

Here. Again. (What is this? Year five?)

I'm not able to do a write-in right now, too many projects on top of Nano. Perhaps later in the month. Still, if its near coffee and/or treats, I'll at least stop to say hi.
