I just found out (while talking to myself - again - in Lj) that I'm writing a mystery, much to my surprise though I was sort of thinking I was headed there anyways. I wonder if the 5 Dresden File Books I've read and the Lukyanenko books are enough?! *crosses toes* I also have no clue who the MC will be, certainly not the female vampire that is looking to be a private CSI however, I'm think the MC might be the medical student that is fluttering around the back of my mind... and I just made the connection that this werewolf character of mine (Jason) would be perfect especially since I think his wedding at the end will be the big boom... though he has always been the veternarian not a human doctor.

*ARG*

I can only assume, hope that I'm not the only one up at four thirty Monday morning doing brain storming and prep work while the spouse is sleeping on the sofa and the kitten is sleeping on your leg (and thus making it fall asleep). Are you guys doing last minuet changes, finding yourself doing similiar things with the prep work or are you actually ready and not trying to block out the panic?

I was up 'til 10:30 last night, and then I was sentenced to bed.

However, I'm changing bits of my plot and my chracters too. (I found some crazy amazing eight page character sheets, so my characters are pretty much solid breathing people now). I've never actually writen a novel, or anything past two chapters that wasn't completely sappy and... eww. In other words, I haven't seriously writen prose for two years. The panic is here, and I'm trying to build a nice little brick wall to block it out. I just hope it works.

*takes cookie and graciously thanks you*

what outline or prep-work? ;)

I like to do NaNo on the fly. Since I am writing a novelization of the TV show I want to write, I know the basic premise and I have a formula for main characters (there are 7-9 of them) but what happens outside of that, the characters will tell me as the story unfolds.

However in past years, I have had outlines, or knew what was going on and then halfway through my brain exploded.

New problem, hehe.

I have this thing about titles. For me, writing a story/novel/poem without a title is like... having a baby, and not naming it until it's five. It's just wrong. My problem is that I can't come up with a title for my novel!! Anyone who's been to my page has seen the little, "Title: ?" section...

Anyone else having silly problems like this?

Most of my teens I wrote without a plan, without outlining or a clue (some say I still don't have one and that's perfectly fine for it makes life more amusing) and then I found Evolution (a great writing group for my gener) and though I felt right at home, I never really felt like I was successfull. Though I learned a crap load of things, writing wise but it also made me ubberly hard on myself, and showed me the world of writer's and that I wasn't alone. Unfortunately, I learned too late that outlining and a lot of planning wasn't the type of writer I am to share with the community there before it closed, the experienced helped me.

Once I have a bit of a ideal as to what the heck I am doing so I don't get to page 30 and freak out about what the heck I'm doing and where I am going I have a rough plan of a outline (see LJ for details). I have 3 working titles generated from Random Book Title Generator and one that came to me though I'm not sure if it works. You also should keep in mind that the title my change on draft #28 so with that on the back burner I can at least shuffle further alone.

I'm modding a writing marathon that ends officially Oct. 31 at midnight, because I'm just that kind of masochistic. I also just wrapped a workshop where we were required to write a short story (aimed for 10,000, have about 8,000) for an e-publisher and a few of the other workshoppers want to swap what we've done for feedback, so I'm trying to get that done, too.

See? Masochistic writer.

I've got a gift fic for someone's birthday due Nov. 4, the third in a trilogy of shorts "due" sometime in the next week, and no freaking clue what I'm writing for NaNo. And yeah, I know none of that other stuff counts.

Time, I think, to pull out something from the archives, wipe the slate clean, and see what I can do about a total rewrite. The good thing there is that I've got lots of decent ideas that stalled in the archives. The bad side is that they all stalled for a reason...

Oh God, and I have an hour left before we start. *headdesk*
