Slightly below second day quota but it's only 10.30am and I barely started. ;-)

Yay! I'm procrastinating as usual. I've only got 205 words so far but the weekend is coming and I've watched some 150 youtube videos since I sat down to do my 'writing' today.

I'm off to a smooth start, which means I'm going to pay dividends somewhere around week 2. /cry

I've met my quota for the day, but not finished writing for the day yet.

No computer crashing, but my feet are perpetually cold now, and the edit demon has mounted several assaults, but has been successfully repelled. My problem now is sticking to this story instead of switching to something I'm better at writing... I'm dumping all the new ideas I'm getting on a Word document that is about as long as what I've written for my NaNovel now, and telling myself that I'll write all that after November. <_<

I'm sure you can afford it... :P You're a good kick in the pants for some of us who think we're lagging, though.

Staying consistent. I'm just trying to be as lighthearted as possible, and letting go of the need to edit. Gah!

Erm, not too good. I actually won't be able to write either, until next week; semester finals. AND I have major distraction issues. I ended up reading and critiquing in the "Excerpt Critique" thread... *guilty* But it's oh so fun to read other people's excerpts! If anyone's interested, it's in the Fantasy forum. http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1037717

Hope other people are having better luck concentrating than I am!

I make sure there are as little distractions of possible when writing. :D I log off all IM programs, and the only website I allow myself to go to are dictionary.com or thesaurus.com. And I turn off my phone *g* I can't even let myself listen to music, LOL, otherwise I get the urge to dance around the room...!

I'm still worried about the 6 days I'll be missing, though. Of course I've planned for them, but still... :/ In December I have midterms, and I have orals to prepare and essays to write and awgh. But so far I'm on track! Hope it stays that way ToT

Gah! My wife is complaining maybe there's too much reality in my novel. Maybe it's time for the space ninjas to attack.

I changed my plot three times already. Am horrible, I know. But I still have time! Yes! I will keep telling myself that! With as many exclamation marks as necessary!

How can reality possibly be a bad thing? o.O Escapism isn't everything (is it?)

After a smallish drought due to a difficult scene, I've finally got it out. It was really easy once I'd sorted a major problem with the structure. Hoping to pull through a bit more before I sleep.

How much trouble 237 words were.

Am terribly behind schedule. Only 2000 words on day 7...arrrgghh!!!!

Its difficult, Nano-ing when you're a new student in a foreign land. [am doing final year of twinning program in UK, just got here a month ago.] All the things to adapt to, the freezing cold, the countless activities they plan for you, and everyone going down to the pubs almost all day..mannnn!

Believe it or not, I've just started my NaNo about 20 minutes ago. One problem after another kept me from starting in the first week.

Oh well. Time to work miracle. With some luck (horseshoe, check. rabbit's foot, check. four leaf clover, check)

Seeing some of you at the halfway mark already makes me feel very small indeed. I just started yesterday, and "kelam kabut" doesn't even begin to describe how it's going. But I'm letting this take itself wherever it wants to go... Not having an easy time ignoring the inner editor tho. Should get easier with time. I have to just keep telling myself no one's ever going to see this stuff. :)

Trust me, when you're thrown in the ring with a bunch of other insane frothing-at-the-mouth WriMos you don't want to be the guy with the high word count >.>

sigma83: you owe us a few hundred extra words for all those Reeses.

And nobody panic, I just restarted a new plot after changing the topic and theme of my novel about...three times? But I'm more confident about this story because the ideas are just gushing out unlike for the other plots I tried messing with. Am only at 1 thousand plus words but hey, am on leave tomorrow and I have the glorious weekend.

Yes, as a matter of fact my PC did crash recently. I have two PC's plus two non-functioning ones, and a laptop. Why, you ask? Well, why not? Theres also my PS2 and various other gadgets like an iPod! I guess I just like technology.

Anyhoo, I was using the older Pentium 3 to write my nanovel. Its a good PC but its been creaking a bit recently, being almost 7 years old and all that. but, it still worked, and i could even play civilization 4 on it. One night the harddisk went scrrt scrrt scrrrt, a smell of circuits frying permeated the air, and that was it. Gone, baby, gone. Luckily, I had saved my nanovel on my flashdrive with the intention of taking it to work. *whistles innocently* Also I swapped in a spare HDD and reinstalled Bill Gates's and Symantec's moneymaker, er, Win XP. So the PC lives again. I did lose some data, though. We do get lax on the backing up once in a while.

I wrote 3,000 words yesterday.
...for my psychology in communications assignment >.> That took the better part of seven hours.

Sigh..

*sympathy*

After having to get my laptop reformatted twice in a month, I now copy everything in My Docs and Desktop to an external hard drive every couple of days. ¬¬ Reformat = no fun.

As for why my word count isn't going anywhere...I've been writing a research paper a week for the last month. On my very last one; already spent 2 days annotating the text, and hope to be able to finish it by tonight so I can finally catch up with the rest of you guys' word counts. I am determined not to be one of sigma83's predicted 5 failures. Luckily, I have a 7 hour flight home next week, and though I'd originally planned to attend to my reading list then, I guess I should be NaNo-ing. Long plane flights = fun.

Is anyone simply sailing through their novels?

If by sailing you mean encountering brief periods of calm followed by long stretches of hard work off-deck and the occasional storm cluster and cold front, then yes, I think I'm sailing very nicely through mine, thank you for asking, do you have any spare sails about by any chance?

Also, will you people drop the Reeses?! I mostly ate M&Ms, I have a natural disincliation towards peanut butter. I ate 7, tops. It's not my fault they both look the same.

Oh I've only one set of sails left. The winds blow strong and deadly, and they reek of procrastination.

Not to mention I've already blown off-course. Still trying to get those coordinates back in order by tonight.

I've put a huge chunk of a novel excerpt on my profile. And added a lot of you as Writing Buddies so I can keep a tab on your wordcount. Muahahaha.

Hmm, yet to get started. I could point at a lot of things as reason, but not having a computer is the main one. Tried writing on paper, it just doesn't click. I guess it's never too late to start eh. Goes off to begin writing again...
