nov. 4, 2007 - 14 31
I'm lifting the numbers after 8pm every even numbered day, and I'll post them on here as soon after that as I'm able to. It does depend on other things that I may be doing at the time (like going to see Stardust on Tuesday), and the performance of the site at the time. So it may have to wait until the following morning.
Anyway, numbers for the 4th November:
1 Wales 11157.75
2 Oxfordshire 10012.91
3 York & Leeds 8213.25
4 Manchester 8108.33

Hi John W
they're the average word count so far for each person who's signed up to represent their region. It's early days as yet, and we'll see how it goes as the end of the month approaches.

Hi John,
Jay is completely correct. It's done using averages because otherwise it wouldn't be fair to the regions who have less people taking part. We have regions with numbers of participants ranging from 4 to 23 at the moment, so using totals just wouldn't work.
Hope this helps.
:-)

you set your NaNo time yourself, so GMT. and it's generally whenever Loriba finds time to sort it out.

Hi Clare,
It's all done on averages (or means, whichever floats your boat).
And yes I do have a day job, I just don't have a life! :-)
And I'm having every Friday off work at the moment.
And I spend a lot of time on Nanowrimo chat participating in word wars, which means I write at a rate of around 850 words per 20 minute war.
Plus, I've got a story that I really love and want to know where it's going to end up.
That's about it really...

nov. 16, 2007 - 16 35
TragicAffair:
Regions don't get eliminated. As long as there is still someone participating in that region, the region remains in the war.
Individual participants are eliminated if they fail to update their word count on more than 4 consecutive occasions. Basically if someone's word count stays the same for 5 consecutive downloads, I eliminate them from the stats.
The rule exists in order to stop people from signing up and then walking away and not thinking about Nano again for the rest of the month. It's there to prevent them from unintentionally dragging their region down through forgetfulness. :-)
Make sense?
