I am very glad I exported what I had written from yWriter to Word for friends to read as this morning I had to restore my system to a week ago and everything was gone. IncludingyWriter! Yes, Simon, I looked everywhere! :(
I now own a 250g external hard drive as a backup! With everything on it - including yWriter stuff - included! grrrrrrrrrrrrr
Of course, this is the only glitch I will have. :-|
Jules.
PS. Good luck to all. :)

Yep, hate restoring. I have a very regimented (and mostly automatic) set of backup routines, so that when I need something I can copy it back manually.
Glad you did an export this morning, although I'm surprised the project went missing too since system restore should only mess with Program Files and settings. Where did you store the project? My Documents?

No, in the yWriter file. I thought it would be safe in there from system restores. It was only the chapter outlines and scene outlines that I lost, but it's disturbed my train of thought for most of the day, so I'm going to go and make a silly hat for our work's Melbourne Cup Day hat competition. I'll try for 30 mins doing that then come back and see how far I get.
I actually emailed it to a friend on Friday morning, so the export happened on Friday morning, so the project itself is now in 3 places. :)
I even lost the application file to yWriter. :(

You poor thing - I suppose the only consolation is that it happened now, and not on 28th of the month! Computers are very sensitive to this kind of thing, I've discovered. The size of the disaster seems to be directly proportional to the importance of the document (or the amount of time you have left to hand it in!) Those external harddrives are kind of handy, though.
Have fun with your hat!

That was my thoughts, actually - that I was glad it had happened now. :) I'd hate for it to happen later! :-o
The hat is half way through being done, but I lost all of yesterday for writing as I ate something that didn't agree with me yesterday at lunch time and paid for it. Couldn't get any writing done. :( Making up for it now, tho. :)

Hey, Simon, just a question. Does yWriter work with Microsoft Vista?
