So, i noticed a few people are finishing up their HSC, finshing up their uni exams, or just generally working during NaNo. I figured we needed a place to vent about the frustrations our various learning and working institutions are causing us =p
So, if you have an exam in four hours but have been procrastinating by writing, or posting, or even if you really have been studying hard but are now below on your word limit- vent here :)
I'd like to say that
1. Work means i'm going to have difficulty getting to the write-ins, which sucks.
2. Uni kills me. Prac kills me more. This week is very, very bad, until Wednesday. After which point, i am FREE!
*grins*
Also- i'd like to know what uni's people go to. I promise not to stalk you.
Well, okay- i guarantee nothing, but still. Anyone from UNSW?

You do prac? What are you studying? I'm currently doing primary teaching, and although I don't have to do prac this semester, I still have assessments to finish up. I'm SO OVER UNI ALREADY!!! I got o UWS. It's crap, but hey, I'll be qualified for what I want to do in the end, and that's all that matters to me.

1. a) My exams don't finish till the 22nd. And to make matters worse, that last exam is at NIGHT. At six-bloody-thirty PM.
b) I passed up NaNo last year because I thought "I'm only finishing in mid-November, there is no way I'll get 50K words out in two weeks". Now it looks like I may be doing 25K+ words in one week.
2. I have uni every day during the week, and work on weekends. This means no time for meetups. Unless we can get something happening at UNSW during lunch breaks which, if we could, I would provide all the Oreos we can consume.

Dude, that is so me. In exactly 4 hours, too.
I think it's fun to be procrastinating on here *sneaks look at Maxtac's profile* Definately good to be in here.
1. HSC is biting me. Badly. Anyone knoe anything about history and the theories in relation to it? Because I have my Extension History exam today, and That's What It's About. Plus the Crusades.
I hate the Crusades.

I'm doing fine arts/ arts... so all my drawing and painting prac things are due. Of which i have VERY FEW COMPLETED. *grins*
I'm thinking of changing degees though. humhumhum. To what? I don't know. Computer science, maybe.
Teaching sounds cool- my sister wnats to do that.
And- writing at UNSW sounds good ^_^ Oreos sound even better. *laughs* Awesomeness.
I just finished my history exam- and all i can tell you about it is E. H Carr's thoery about "numbers count in history" and this whole "new historicism" thing- which was understanding literature and art through its context, not just its author. *kills self*
I hope you have more luck in your exam than i did in mine.
I need a new job. Oh, yeses.
anyhows, good luck :)

I have an essay due Friday. A well-researched, 1,500 word essay on news values and the Reuters AlertNet crises list. And I'm working tomorrow (Wednesday) and Friday. Have I mentioned that I haven't started the essay? Then I have an exam on Monday, which should be a piece of cake but which does need to be studied for. Really studied for.
And I work 3 days a week, 5 from the 19th of November. And I'm already waaaaaaaaaay behind on wordcount. Eeep!!

Yeah...school really has seemed to pile the work on in the last couple of works....
In the last week I've had to read:
- 'The Skull beneath the Skin' - P.D James
- 'The Rue Morgue Murders' - Edgar Allen Poe
- 'Brave New World' - Aldous Huxley (Ok so I admit I read that in two days during the holidays...but still)
- A crime novel of my choice (Report due less than two weeks)
And:
- Constant streams of essays for Advanced English, Extension English, Studies of Religion
- Studies of Religion assignment (Again, this doesn't really count - I haven't started.)
- And a terrible amount of maths work...
Yeah...amongst all of that I'm thinking I should give up my NaNo for this year...and Extension 2 English is starting up on Thursday so my teacher will expect 'something'...

I'm studying at UWS - I've got an essay for uni due Friday and a test coming up a little later this month. The essay is really starting to bug me - it's only 1.5k words, so it's less than a day's work of NaNo, but research will guarantee me misery and a disruption in daily activities (including my daily NaNo).
And to top it all off, I don't know what I'm going to be writing for NaNo - it's mostly just filler for now.

You're doing crime fiction then?
Dude. I did that last year. Hated it. But, you know, you'll love it and all that =P
I used Cowboy Bebop as one of my texts though, so that was cool.
- Studies of Religion assignment (Again, this doesn't really count - I haven't started.)
ISP??
Do you guys still have ISPs?
Nano is worth more than school work. But i shouldn't tell you that =P
Everybody with essays... mwahahaha. I have no more essays this year. Go me! ALLLLLL done. Finally.
This semester was evil though- i handed most of mine in between 3-9 days late. oopsies o.O
I can't understand how people would rather have an exam than an essay- i like the essays more (even though i do hand them all in late.) Exams make me freak out. I'\m always in such a rush to write that i miss the point of the question entirely. At least, i feel like i have when i get out of the room. >_<
And i finished my drawing ^_^ But painting is due tomorrow- i ahven't got enough canvases :( So one won't get done even if i have time to finish the other two.
They're in oils so they take AGES to drya, and one involves multiple glazes using oils. And i started it the day before it's due, thereby not giving myself ANY time to study. I suck. =P

I'm at COFA/UNSW doing Fine Arts/Arts, and this week has been killing me.
I had a sculpture due on Wednesday and an English essay. Essay not done and will not be handed in till Friday. Then I've got two more sculpture due on Friday.
I am going crazy. Plus I'm already behind on word count and I have to work all of the weekend.
At 5:10pm on Friday I will flop onto the bus and thank god that uni is over for the year.

I'm actually studying at Monash (*gasp* I'm in Melbourne), but my home's in Sydney and I proabably wont' start seriously writing until I get home, so yeah. :) My exams finish on the 14th. If I fail them I have to repeat the entire year and I'm being examined on first and second year stuff (yeah, Med's a bitch).
BUT Nano is good stress relief. :D Good for procrastination or when you really need a break.

What year are you in?
IRish Ram- ISP = Interest Study Project. In SOR you do one, you have to research any aspect of religion you want. I did mine on how religion was portrayed in fantasy novels ^.^

Aaaarrrrgh 6 days till my last big exam!!!! **not a happy chappie**
What I've done which I hope might help my studies is...to ban myself from typing my novel. I have to handwrite it. Which (I am deluding myself) will improve my exam technique. Ugh slow.

I'm NOT working, and that's giving me the shits. *mutters* I normally set aside 10 PM - midnight for writing anyway (except on Thursdays and Saturdays, when I do some writing during the day - Thursday due to Sideshow tapings, Saturday due to, erm, Sideshow), so I could work! *mutters some more, this time at boss*
Anyone aiming at trying to finish before the election? I want to be done and dusted by Friday - I'm doing an average of 2,000 a day, but I'm planning on spending most of Friday writing, and probably most of Sunday, too (busy on Saturday. Erm, today). And it's my birthday on the 28th, and the final Sideshow on the 29th, so... yeah! Trying to finish early.

Trill - why do painting if you don't like it? Why don't you see if you can change your major to something else that you enjoy more? You could come do sculpture with me *winks* lol.
ryttu3k - so did you manage to finish by election?
