Hello Bristol.
I was always doubtful that this year would see success for me here. I've got a lot of family stuff going on this month, and with people on holiday at work and me falling ill, I'm finding myself consistantly falling behind.
I'm currently 6500 words short of my target, which increases daily as the excuses pile up. My novel is actually going great, and I'm enjoying it, but things just aren't going my way. I'll continue writing as much as I can each day, but I think I'm resigned to not completing in time.
So, I'll offer my services as a shoulder to cry on, a muse for ideas, or just a friendly face to cheer you guys on. Anyone struggling, or in need of support? send me a nanomail and I'm here for you :)
If I have a really good day where I write 10,000 words - count me back in.

Bummer. Sounds like it's probably best for you to not worry about 'winning' too much with everything that's going on. Hopefully you can still come to write-ins and the like.

My novel has ground to a halt. The cold I have has totally knocked me off my feet :o( I've been in bed by 8:30pm all week .... however .... it's the taking part that counts :o)
Good luck with catching up but be pleased that what you have written is going well :)

I'm way behind too. I should be a third of the way through by now, and I've barely managed 3,000 words, but I'm determined to keep going. As I get closer to the end of the month, the pressure will force the words out of me.
A Sunday write-in might be good - I won't be able to make a midweek one this week, if it's on Wednesday, so I might just be a reckless environmental terrorist and haul myself all the way up to Bristol on Sunday afternoon. Besides, they do really good cakes in the Watershed cafe. ;-)

Hmmm. Does anyone else have the feeling that as the word count adds up, their story is simply becoming dull? It seems that I'm spending so long describing things that very little is happening.
I think I made a mistake in starting out before my main character was born. After a couple of major skips in time, he's still only twelve and the real core of the story is only just beggining to kick in - at 16000+ words.
Just thought I'd see if I was alone in worrying about the pace of things.

just keep writing it. You are writing stuff you need to know about even if the final edit removes most of that first chunk -- just file it somewhere in your "background" file :o)
