Hey guys!

Time to check in again and let us know how you're doing! We're halfway through the month - how's your word count going? I've stalled - I keep telling myself I just need to spend 2 solid days focused on it, but there's so much going on here (including my car needing some work which is why I haven't organized any write-ins recently) that I haven't had a chance to sit and write.

Are you doing much better than you expected? Did you conquer the week two wall? Keep writing! Good luck with the second half!

I wish I was too days behind. Still sitting under 8000 words and we're halfway. That makes me about 17 thousand words behind. And I haven't even been going to any write in. Or checking my mail.

Sigh.

How's everyone else doing?

Eeep, looks like many of us Oakvillians are not doing so well word count wise. I keep meaning to do the same and just sit down and write but... school and other such things keep getting in the way. To make things "worse" I'm going away with my boyfriend for his birthday this weekend. I'm bringing my laptop of course but I've got a lot of birthdayisms planned (Beowulf in IMAX... im excited and a huge dork). Im seriously starting to worry I'm not going to finish.
Perhaps we should all get together soon and just force each other to write. Somewhere without an internet connection would be helpful.

Good Luck Everyone!

I'm about 400 words ahead (not including today's word count, which I'm just starting).
Doing better than I expected!

You're doing awesome glass!

For the rest of us - we need to buckle down now! If we're serious about winning this year, we have to commit to put in the time. I've written about 3.5 K today, and I intend to keep going this evening until I hit at least 5 K, repeating it again tomorrow and Sunday.

Amai - do you have a hard time writing when you're not at a write-in? If so, we need to schedule some write-ins for when you're available! I'm happy to hole up in Monaghan's with my laptop, or meet at a coffee shop somewhere and write write write! :)

Hmm, I'm thinking I'll spend a few hours at Monaghans on a couple days this week and just force myself to write. If anyone wants to join me on Tuesday or Thursday from 12-4 just let me know as I'm planning on doing some serious catchupage =)

Sorry! I'm at work during those hours, otherwise I'd definitely write with you.

Good luck making some headway!
I'm hoping to make a big push tonight - 10K or bust ;)

I like write in, but I generally talk more than I write. I'm having a bad year. Last year, the farthest I got behind was a couple hundred words. I know, though, pathetic. So... mabey it would help. I'm still hoping to go to the write in with glassmenage_ so that might help slightly. Nine hours of solid writing... would be pretty hard not to get SOMETHING done.

Here's the link in case anyone else is interested. We're currently talking train sheduals.

Either way, even if there isn't time for more write in I think we should have something at the end.

Based on your word count bars it looks like you guys are making progress. I'm still struggling and starting to really worry I'm not going to finish... perhaps I should have started worrying a lot earlier in the game :-(

Don't waste time worrying! I'm finding word wars really helpful - 10 minutes at a time, 5 minutes break. I average maybe 350 words each 10 minute period, which adds up to 1K in about 45 minutes if I'm focused.

I keep reminding myself of that guy last year who did the entire thing in like three days, that and trying to convince myself to actually sit down and write.

Actually sitting down to right is definitely key :)

My first year, I wrote 30K in 3 days at the end to race to the finish.

I hope everyone else who has had to really push to catch up is doing well. I've had a couple of 3K days, a couple of 5K days. Getting past the halfway mark was awesome - but I agree with Chris Baty... Once you hit 40K, it's smooth sailing to the end. You're so close, you can taste success!

Unfortunately, my other obligations are suffering a bit because of my writing - I was supposed to work from home for most of today and I ended up writing, *cough* watching a CSI:Miami marathon *cough* and napping. Not cool!
