My characters have wandered into an "old fashioned tent revival". I've seen these events advertised before, but have no real idea what they're like. Would it just be preaching, or would there be singing/music too? Or some other type of celebration or activity? A general description of what happens would be immensely helpful.

Thanks.

My sister and husband went to a church event that was sorta-like a revival in a park. Picnic, bands playing (my bro-in-law plays Christian rock - among other things), preaching, just hanging out and chatting, inflatable bouncy castle and slide for the kids, sing-a-longs, praying, bible study workshops....

Yep - that's the current "tent revival" - if this is set in the past, it was long, long sermons, with an emphasis on evangelism, i.e. preaching at sinners to get saved. In more modern times, it's more designed to get outsiders thinking about joining a church because it will be fun...
