(In honor of veganfred ;-)

Come on, big or small, 'fess up: what have you done so far this ear rather than write (for the day or the moment).

I started off the month by completely taking apart and reconfiguring my computer.

Today I've spent massively re-organizing the tool/cords/spare stuff corner of the apartment.
It's been on my to-do list for approximately forever (nearly a year at least). Today I decide to do it.

Give the cat a bath? Suddenly decide your toenails are clearly a full 1/8 inch too long and must be fixed?

(In addition to poking around the forums, of course) what have *you* done this year in the transparent attempt to avoid actual writing?

Well, right now I'm making dinner and trying to find the two vital TV remotes that my kids LOST this morning. Sheesh.

Thanks for making the effort.

Nice timing on that junk. If you're done, I got all kinds of crap like that you can work on.

So I see you took my advice and decided to piss some time away and go for the BIG FINISH after all. All right, that's the Nano procrastination queen that I love!

You can give a cat a bath? I have one I named Dusty, and that was before I realised it was a perfect fit. But after seeing how he acted at the vet (see Alien), I don't want to see what happens if he gets wet. Maybe Gremlins?

My toenali clipper broke last week, so I am hoping I don't tear any socks this week.

So far, i have decided that the online jigsaw & crossword puzzle sites can not possibly survive without me spending hours playing on them. Guess I figured since none of my characters wanted to come out and play I would need to go elsewhere.

Also decided all those catalogs I have been receiving lately just HAD to be looked at.

And then there is always the NHL Network -- hockey 24/7... ahh now there's a worthwhile distraction.

ok... confession time... I have bought completely unnecessary things for my apartment and completely redecorated, even to the point of painting a box (from IKEA) that will hold all of my shoes. I have cooked and baked in an attempt at procrastinating, which is very ironic since I NEVER cook or bake in general. I have emailed almost every single one of my friends to 'catch up' and have even gone so far as to alphabetize my CD's and even clean my bathroom from top to bottom. Oh yeah, and I've sorted through stuff that I have been meaning to sort through since I moved a year ago as well as applying for new jobs.... phew.... I feel better now....

And one more confession so that I can go to bed with a clear conscience, my last 1500 words are 6 copies of this paragraph:

'This is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating. I feel guilty, I feel guilty, I feel guilty, I feel guilty, I feel guilty, I feel guilty, I feel guilty, I feel guilty. I need to sleep, I need to sleep, I need to sleep, I need to sleep, I need to sleep, I need to sleep, I need to sleep. This is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating, this is cheating. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry. I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry. Please forgive me, please forgive me, please forgive me, please forgive me, please forgive me, please forgive me, please forgive me. It’s still writing, it’s still writing, it’s not a novel, but it’s still writing, its not a novel, but it’s still writing. Good text goes here, good text goes here, good text goes here, plot character development, descriptive scenes, excellent dialoge. Good text goes here.'

"Done"? What is this 'done' you speak of??? *eye roll*

Made a nice stab at it though.

Hey, I haven't updated from yesterday! Or...well...written at all today!

...what's your point?

Oh, I've done it many many times over the years. The key is to keep all pointy bits pointed away from the face and never, never let go. *g*

Hang on a second...there's an NHL Network. Where? I have DTV and I don't know of any such thing.

Sleep

Put the license plates on my new (well, new to me) car; six weeks after they come in the mail is a good time to put them on, right? ;)

Consider what my legal options are (if any) since said new to me car's engine is going out.

Research what kind of new-or newer-car I want to buy.

Watch all 26 episodes of "Marvel/DC" on YouTube. I highly recommend it, start with "I'm a Marvel/I'm a DC #1" by ItsJustSomeRandomGuy, if you want to check it out.

Rearrange my desk so that my forearms can rest on it while typing, since I suspect the 12K typing marathon I did last weekend strained the muscles in my back (near the shoulder blades), which then also affected the muscles in my chest, making breathing more painful than the pain I feel when I type. Suffering artist, indeed. I think I need a new desk, possibly an artist's desk, or some type of regular desk/artist's desk hybrid, if there is such a thing (I hope it gets good MPG!) :P A bigger bedroom in a house of my own is a nice accessory for my new desk. I'll have to look into that!

Try to have some kind of a social life.

Research activities to give the kids at one of my jobs, so they will have something to do once they finish homework. Keeping kids busy=reduction in problems=me being happy!

Attempt to get caught up on chores.

Watched Resident Evil 2 (a horrible movie), and Hot Fuzz is here (hooray!), waiting to be viewed, probably multiple times.

Try to work it out on short notice so I could go to the NaNo event in SF last night. I'll plan on going next year, as it sounds like a lot of fun!

- Watched more telly than I normally do.
- Play silly games on the computer (you know, the kind that you can play off a website or download on Big Fish Games/Yahoo!)
- Added stuff to my Amazon.com Wish list
- Got back into playing golf and have been practising to putt during breaks o.O

So where does one get the third hand from to do the actual cat bathing? Maybe I'll just soap him up and walk him in the rain, and let nature take care of the rest.

I'll just say this: I should have canceled my World of Warcraft account before November...

I decided I would piss away several hours on tech support trying to get my internet connection back up again so that I could do the research I needed to finish my story. First there was SBC, who passed me onto D-Link, who passed me onto HP, who of course wanted to charge me between $49 and $99 to talk to me because my warranty is up. That went from 3am last night until 5:30am.

Today I tried HP online help, which is free because they make you sit idly by between live chat messages forever and then before they get to anything DISCONNECT YOUR ASS! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then it was back to my own testing with a wireless card, where I figured it was probably not my computer but the router, but the call back to D-Link for confirming / repairing it took at least another hour, before they sent it to level 2, who was smart enough to say, "Oh, there's no signal, you're router is broken." Duh! That's what I figured in the first place, but did I go out this afternoon as I figured I should do and buy a new one. Obviously NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! So I hung up and bought a new one, but this time I thought I'd try a Linksys, for twice as much dough, just because I'm worth it? Only down side is farmed out tech support, but at least after 40 more Cauliflower ear minutes on the phone - IT WORKS!!!!!!! All on a bad phone where I had to almost shout my responses to everyone because that phone is near the router.

Okay, now I have a whole 10 words under my belt towards my 3K per day goal, and will be writing until who knows when. :-( But hey, at least I had a good 2 1/2 - 3 hoursof sleep last night, so I'm ready for an almost all-nighter. I just hope that I can finish before Howard starts at 3, or I can hit pause until 3:45. Somehow I don't think I will be writing much quality after 2, so I'd better shut up now, as I could have had a few hundred words, but I was too pissed to write them until I vented! Vent, Vent, Vent!!! There, that's better. Why must this crap happen when I am finishing? The last time my power adapter died on my laptop and I had to scramble to finish. Ugh!!!! I'm Nanonoyed!

Thanks, Dianne.
Cya!

Great (and timely!) topic for me.

Lessee.. I've been looking for work, studying for the CBEST (with marginally more success than I have had with this endeavor here at NaNo; math is my lifelong bane...), and spending way too much time watching movies and agonizing over the state of the world (I've been feeling kinship with AJ Soprano lately...).

At least I know what NOT to do this time of the year next year. *grin*

So much for that plan, as I turned the computer back on after dinner last night and it didn't work again. I spent another hour on the phone before we could get it working. By then it was midnight and I was physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausted. I started writing and made it for a whole 11 minutes before I was too pooped to pop. I decided to take a 45 minute nap on the couch, but when the alarm went off, I said forget it, and stayed asleep until 7:30 when I went to bed for two more hours. The bad news is I got 56 words :-( On the bright side, I got more sleep than I have all month. My goal for todays is six hours or 60K, whichever comes last. I have 60674, 4862 words in 5 1/2 hours, so at least 30 minutes to go. Looks like I'm looking at at least 65K to finish, but probably more. It keeps running away from me. Someone please make it stop! I wanted to be done by tomorrow!

I've found plenty to do. TV, mostly. I had two papers due yesterday, so I haven't written since Saturday. This is not looking good with only 10k left. ARG!
