Just to give you time to clear your diaries, the TGIO party will be on Monday 3rd December.

And before everyone starts up with 'why can't it be the weekend?', it's because it's a lot harder (and more expensive) to book weekend venues.

I did enjoy our TGIO meet at the Atlas a couple of years back because they did good food and also catered for non-drinkers, plus parking on the seafront and walking up is an option.

Suggestions for venues here please (with transport links such as bus numbers if they're not close to the station).

Erm, for the record, there is absolutely no way I can do that Monday.

Last year we did manage to get a weekend booking, but it would be difficult (last year I visited about twenty places in order to find one that satisfied needs. It was a bit noisy, but I felt it worked.

I actually think Sunday would be easiest all round, apart from for the school nights problem.

I wish we could still do polls.

Anyway, if that's when we have to do it (which may well be the case) then I won't be there.

Can't do mondays, too awkward what with work and all. :(

How about the sunday afternoon to evening? That way the younger lot could come too and us work/school night lot could head off early before the trains disappear. :)

Monday, on the other hand, would've been perfect for me.

If it's any help -- I can make any time between Friday 30th and Tuesday 4th (inclusive).

So you've only got 90 other "Brighton - Home Region" people to please. :-)

(Except half of them dropped out on October 31st, and aren't reading the forum anyway. So it's unlikely that more than about forty people will be sticking pins into voodoo dolls[*] because you scheduled the TGIO on a day they can't get here.)

Chro.

[*] Did you know that sticking pins into a voodoo doll is a myth? It's not a voodoo thing at all: it comes from European witchcraft traditions. AFAIK. OTOH, being turned into a zombie slave is a voudoun thing.

And, also, a fairly potent concept in general African belief systems. To the point that, in an era of globalization and the spread of neoliberal capitalism, this supposedly "irrational" belief, has flourished, invoked as a metaphor for the dehumanizing effects of manual, low paid labour manipulated by unseen forces.

*cough*

If it helps, I too am free pretty much every day between the Friday and the Tuesday.

It's all right, I'm feeling better now.

It was just that I thought we had this conversation at the Sanctuary a few weeks back and everyone concluded that Monday was probably the day to go for.

Anyway.

If it is to be the weekend, then you'll all have to ask Alabaster (very nicely) to pound the streets and find us a venue. He will want lots of beer in recompense. Or perhaps lots of tea.

In which case you'll have got a bargain.

*sigh*

Would you like me to stick my head in a bucket of water? I've got one right here.

Damn, I hadn't realized the date might've been changed. I've already rearranged my meeting so that I'm coming down on Monday.

Oh well, I'll keep an eye on this thread in case it ends up happening Monday anyway.
