Who's got the green bars! Come and be celebrated for your awesome achievement!
The story doesn't have to stop at 50k though... We still have to keep Indy thoroughly beaten on word count.

Phew! Got the word count in and finished the book... Now attempting to start a second novel and get another 50k (uh, sure Tom, have you looked at the date?)
Okay, Josh and Michael haven't posted here yet, but let's give them a round of applause! They got here first!

:waves:
I still have two more scenes to write - probably about 10K words. But I will be done by Nov 30; I know exactly what I want to say.
Yay for everyone else who's bellied up to the Green Bar, too.

Once I'm a "WINNER!" can I still keep updating my word count until the end of the month, or does it lock?
I'm hesitant to upload my next day's work for official word count (as I have been doing every day) because I'm not done with my novel, and don't want to be locked at 50,XXX if I'm really going to end November at 6X,XXX. I know it's silly, but I've written a lot so now my brain can obsess over silly little details!

Yeah! I'm done... only 20k til the actual end of the book!

I'm under the impression that you can still upload until the deadline and it will change your word count accordingly.

Hey, Sarahlynn ~
According to the FAQ's:
"Can I keep writing and adding to my word count even after I've had the novel verified?
Absolutely. Verification simply confirms that you have crossed the 50,000-word mark. You can continue to add to your word count in the usual fashion until 11:59:59 pm on November "
EDIT: also, this from the Edit Profile page:
"After winning, you can continue to update your word count until 11:59:59 PM local time on November 30th, at which point your 2007 word count will be frozen until the next NaNoWriMo begins in 2008."
If you're still worried, I'll hit 50k tonight, and I'll test it for you.
Hope that helps!

Greeb bar! Greeb bar! I made it! Woohoo!
Now I'm off to see if it turns purble. ;)
EDIT: It's official. I went from greeb to purble with 50,111. Then I revalidated with 50,360 and it updated.

Oh, so that's what that little green bar thingy was all about. I thougt it was one of those video game health meters from Street Figher or Mortal Kombat . . . ;)

Not done with the story, but I'm taking the rest of the night off. I think I have another couple of thousand words to go.

Thank you, limin-! And Susabelle!
I actually did look at the FAQ, but apparently I didn't read it. Is anyone else operating from within a fictional fog?
Also, YAY!

Greeb bar! :) Hee!
Will turn it purple when I'm a little higher over the threshold in case Nano doesn't agree with Appleworks' word count.
I'm in the exciting climax! (Or hopefully it'll be exciting. :) *bounce* *bounce*

I made it! The word count, at least, if not a finished tale.
Also, I figured out a lot of the plot, which will hopefully be motivation to actually finish a draft over the next year.

There, glad that's over. Now I can throttle it back to 1k a day so I can finish this thing while writing other things, too.
Congrats, everyone.

2/2, but this one was tough.

I made it, barely. Then I went in and started dicing and slicing.
I am very grateful for the experience. I've found I do a WHOLE lot better if I just write frantically and don't analyze how what I'm saying might be misinterpreted or taken offensively by the younger Oregon Manduck fans, since I know nothing about them. What sounded great yesterday sucks today, anyway, so maybe I'll find the inverse is true, too.
ANYWHO, THANKS! I'm looking forward to next next. And I will try to help the ailing fund when my check comes the 15th.

I made it! But now everyone wants to read it...what do I do? Not only is it horrible in terms of its literary merits, but I have included all of my family and friends as characters in sometimes unflattering ways. It was really just about making the word count. With the time crunch, it was just so much easier to use people I know instead of making everything up from scratch.

I'm sorry, but I'll never get that purple... I handwrote all 50,000 words, so I can't validate it. Yeah, that's right FIFTY THOUSAND. I never thought I'd get there...

I made the same mistake of telling people I was writing and now people want to read it. My reasons for not doing so though are because clearly one of the main characters is based off of me, and I'd rather not have some of my family members reading some of the things I had to say about myself. I told them that once I edit it that they're welcome to read it.
