Just thought it would be nice to have a place where those of us who are a bit behind can share dreams of the 'big push day' - that mystical and magical 24 hours where all those missing words between the current word count and expected word count somehow get written. The day when you go to sleep thinking, "If from tomorrow I do 1,667 wpd until Nov 30, I'll hit 50k."

I need a 5,000 word day to really get back into it, and I'm sure many of you are in a similar position. Each morning I wake up and think, "Today's the day I catch up," but each evening I go to sleep thinking, "Tomorrow's the day..."

All I need is ONE REALLY GOOD DAY. Is that so much to ask?

Definitely ditto. And I've got stuff happening I can't get out of most days between now and the 30th... *sigh*

I'm in a similar position. A 5K day would put me nicely back on track. I'm hoping tomorrow (Saturday) will be the day.

Mini word war, anyone?

I think mine might have been last night. I was about four days behind and I made it up to only one day behind.

Or maybe I'm about to have a week of serious pain in which my output plummets, and by Big Push Day is actually still ahead of me. Whatever happens, I need to get some serious wordcount down over the weekend. Give me strength.

I'm going to need a big push day this weekend! I've slipped quite far behind the "official" pace. I had a plan for getting back up to pace, but I got very little written yesterday, and nothing today.

Things are going to be a little tricky for me - today was my last day in my current department at work and so I had my leaving do afterwards, and I start in my new department on Monday (although I've been told that I can start late on the first day whilst they get ready for me!). So this weekend is going to be my best chance to catch up - if I can get 8k done tomorrow I'll be back on the official pace.

I know I can do it - I once wrote 8k in a day for a fanfic that I wrote some years back. Victory for me should now be as straight forward as England just needing a draw to qualify...

Oh dear.

So I'm not alone!

I don't know about word wars, I've got a baby that doesn't care much for my writing schedule (inconsiderate or what?!), but I'm willing to set 40,000 by Sunday bedtime as a target. Like Turtleheart, I think considering the current position, that'd be a great place to be with 5 days left.

Being incredibly optimistic, I'm still hoping to get to 35,000 words before sleep tonight. Ha! Some chance.

This time last year I was over 41k... sigh....

Guys, never, I say NEVER make a post like I did on this thread. I completely jinxed myself. Not only did I say that my BPD might not have come yet, I stated my intention to get some serious wordage down over the weekend. How could I have been so stupid?

I was then busy on Friday night and got nothing done, then out of nowhere came a compulsory visit to relatives saturday to sunday morning. Got home sunday afternoon with no word count done at all. Proceeded to have 5,000 word day, plus all my other work. It is now 2:48 am on Monday and I've just made it all up again.

Moral of story: BEWARE OF JINXING!!

I just had my Big Push, and it took me over the line! Nearly 7k words today and I am exhausted. Another year over and I can feel the NaNoComedown taking hold already.

Bedtime!
