How you plan to celebrate?

Well, hopefully everyone will celebrate at the final party! (Details to come very soon, I promise!)

How am I going to celebrate? Let me count the ways.

1. I am going to get a bound double-sided copy made at Kinkos for $20. Not because it is good but because it is symbolic.
2. I am going to write all my friends who are the least bit literary and shamelessly announce (which is probably bad taste but there we are).
3. Yesterday, I went to the 'Saug Round Up and met five uber fabulous people who confirmed I am not nuts.
4. I am going to go out and buy some books - particularly a harlquin romance - because I have never read one and my non-nano cheering section kept referring to them and I don't know if they were being funny or not.
5. I am going to go and buy a RIDICULOULSY expensive water colour paint brush. It will cost about $65. For one brush. But it will be beautiful.
6. Yesterday, I did a Snoopy Dance full of wriggles and arms raised.
7. I am going to tell at least 3 people at work that I did this (jeepers ... all about the bragging ... )
8. I am going to do some background R&D so that when Ryan e-mails and asks for help building 'Saug Power next year, I will have a couple suggestions.
9. Nov 30 my non-nano friends have tickets to the Nutcracker and I am going to have whatever the heck I want on the menu.
10. I am going to start xmas baking and put up my xmas tree.
11. I am going to try to figure out a Nano 2007 xmas ornament to commemorate this.

Holy cow. This was my first year. This is such a big deal. I am utterly beside myself with the experience ...

I really think someone ought to buy me a car, but so far, no volunteers.

My celebrations are also destined to include perfecting my chocolate shortbread unicorns recipe, and locating a rather fetching pair of high heels in which to eat these cookies and in which to dance with my lady-posse.

Man. I was just thinking I was going to read a book, now that I'll have the time.

I plan on sitting around and playing lots of guitar. Oo, and the new Scott Pilgrim is out now, so I plan on getting that as well (although I may have to wait until Saturday, and a trip to the Beguiling, to do that)

'Sauga Power! Next year 'Sauga will be much better organized; largely because I won't be waiting until late October to try to put something together :o)

If you're looking to make copies, though, there's a copy place on Dundas, between Hurontario and Confederation, that does copies for half the price of Kinko's. Also, lulu.com (the site Errol mentioned) would probably do copying and binding cheaper than Kinkos (and possibly giving you a free copy, but I can't be sure of that), and would also give you the option of sharing copies if you're into that sort of thing (novels make great christmas gifts for friends and family!)

I'm bragging to everyone that I am writing/have written a novel. I doubt I will finish but I will definitely try, hopefully I will get to over 50k to have something to show for it.

I can't believe I also forgot to include going to a St. Mike's Majors game, and colouring in pictures of Jonathan Coulton. They will also both be part of my celebrations.

I am pleased to announce that after writing word #50,007 last night, I toasted the end of the first draft with a shot of bourbon and the first solid sleep I've enjoyed since October 30th.

And best of luck to everyone else as you race toward the finish line...

You know, I realized I have never seen the video of that...

....plus...one more thing:

I am going to take the CD I have been listening to incessantly since November 1st and bash it with a rock. Inspiring though it was, after such heavy rotation, if I never hear those songs again as long as I live, it'll still be too soon.

Oh, and another thing--now that I am finished my first draft, all other writing I do for the next several days is going to include as many trite, worn-out and absurd clichés and turns of phrase as I can cram in...

Okey dokey smokey pokies ...

The paint brush is a Kolinksy Red Sable watercolour brush size 12. Apparently it will substantially improve my watercolouring. And $65 is not the most expensive out there ...

Regarding xmas ornaments ... in the event anyone is the LEAST bit interested ... so far, I have this ...

take a sheet of 2 inch x 4 inch shipping labels
copy paste resize the NaNo participant (or winner) icon. (You may have to use Paintbrush to rotate 90 degrees first).
Then print them off.
Peal off one and place face down.
Take a piece of string and loop out top end and stick.
Peel off second sticker and place down (sticky sides together).
Use a bone paper folder (or curve end of spoon) to really stick.
If I had a laminator, I might laminate the double sided and punch a hole in top.

I am doing a Michaels run tomorrow and lunch and there might be interesting things on which to stick a NaNo sticker.

If I get something good, anyone want more instructions or pics?

And - I discovered something ... writing instructions is a good way to create word count. (does this preoccupation with words, counting etc stop? is the infection permanent or does it go away eventually?)

As for my celebratory high heels, I am delaying the purchase till the weekend, and expect my next post could go a lot like the post-paint-brush post...i.e.: nice, pricey, but not the most expensive. They will not make me paint better, but they will make me reach at least the shoulders of most of my friends.

Squirrels move into the ceiling of my kitchen every winter...last year I took a rolling pin, bashed a hole and trapped one using a really quite complicated contraption and a couple peanut butter sandiwches. The sandwiches alone were not enough to lure the squirrel into the trap, so I clipped a taunting note to the cage and lo and behold, came home that very night and there it was, trapped.

Should these events occur again this February, I will send him over to live at your place once I catch him!

What did the taunting note say?!

The note said, "I double-dog-dare you to come into this cage!"

Man, that's awsome! I should try that with my kids.
