Finally I have completed enough of this craziness for this year... I only squeezed in by a little over 200 words, on my count. But still a win is a win. For me, this was one of the hardest story lines that I have ever done and I don't think I will be doing another factual Nano again..

To those still going, there is still some time.
To those completed, well done..

Cheers

Congrats on winning this one especially as it was so hard for you.

I had to sweat tears to get the last few thousand words out because the story had wrapped up. It was all adding extra description and padding. But I made it!! Hooray!

Also done word count-wise, but the story needs at least two more chapters. Yikes!

Well done everyone! Just finished the 50k (but not quite there with the novel - somehow have to shake off my attraction to all those lovely characters...) myself and am feeling elated, wrecked, lost and more than a bit dazed...!

Woo-hoo!!!

*joins in on the victory dancing, which is a lot like the running man*

I finished on Tuesday, I can't believe I managed it a good few days before the 30th!

Heh, I noticed a few comments about people finishing the 50K and still having some story ahead of them. For me, it was the other way around... got to 30K and ran out of story... so I had to start a new story to get the count higher...

In the end I had three files that I got my count from, the African Christmas, the second story that I started and a trash file that had all my dud starts, stupid sentences and so forth...There was 9000 words in there alone! ;o)

Congrats everyone... still a day left though..

Well done those who made it - alas, don't think I'll quite get there. Still just under 5000 words to go and have got a big night out on Friday so no chance then!!!

BUT, the story isn't going away, I will finish this, and besides there's a fair bit more than 50k words of story anyway. At least this has got me writing again after so many months of finding excuses not to.

Not quite a winner, but, Goddamn, I AM a writer!

Woohoo - just got there myself.

My first win in three starts, so I am especially stoked. I was struggling to get started tonight but when I got near the end everything started to flow and I actually had to tell myself to stop and get the thing counted.

I am nowhere near the end of the story yet .. if I want to finish this it might almost have to double in size - eek!

Anyway - happy for now!

After writing what I thought was 50,038 words, I copied my entire manuscript into Word to find it was trying to tell me I'd only written 49,991 words! I added one sentence then validated it to end up on my 50,003. I also have a lot of story left, but I'm thinking that with all the things I made up as I went along, I might be better off just trying to rewrite it properly while writing every day is still a habit. We'll see how it goes. I'm just ecstatic to be a winner on my first attempt. =)

Finished! What an awesome feeling.

After writing over 3,500 words every day for the last week, I've hit the 50k mark with two hours to spare.

For everyone not yet finished ... you've still got 2 hours, why are you reading this?
For everyone who's finished, a huge well done!
