I get out of official school in two weeks, leaving me with only some online Latin, math, and perhaps other things that my mom insists on me doing. So I have decided that I'm going to write all summer.

My goal is to get 50,000 words for each of the three months I'll have out- May, June and July- and see if I can't get a good 30,000 in during August as well.

Would anyone like to join me? I always do better when I'm being pushed by others.

If you're interested, post and say hi! I'm going to try to have a weekly accountability sort thing going, and if anyone wants to be accountable to someone, well, I need it too!

Hey, if you are wanting to write all summer, you should check out the SummerWrite community on LiveJournal.

I read about it here on the NaNo boards. The goal is 150,000 words between May 1st and August 31st. Signups are going until April 30th. Right now there are over 100 people signed up to participate. It seems like it's going to be pretty fun...

I saw that SummerWrite thing too late. Ah.

I want to do some summer writing too, so I'd be happy joining you, Kaldaka. =)

Same. We'll have our own little Summerwrite community.
Yeah, I reckon I'm up to that!
I've done a couple of novels since November, but now my creativity seems to have dried up. Something like this is exactly what I need.

And having left school for illness and not being able to leave my bed, I know I'll have the time! win!

So are you guys planning on 3 separate 50K novels so it's like Nano, or one big novel?

I'm doing SummerWrite... thanks to chick!

So far I have 10K...

But if y'all would like to keep on track with me and each other in this thread, that would be great!

The more accountability, the better!

I'm doing one epic novel for 150,000 words... at least.... I HOPE I am. It might turn out to be that plus finishing up another story completely.

So yeah. If y'all are still in for it, do start now and post word counts whenever!

Ooh, I'll do it with you!! I won't be able to manage 150,000 words, since I will be in Europe for most of July, but I can probably pull off a 50,000! I'm much more excited now, since I won't have to wait for November and the real NaNoWriMo to get a similar experience.

I don't know what happens when you sign up for Summerwrite, but I'll follow along with that. I just started writing today (lost the first week to exams!) and I'll post my word count when I have a significant amount down.
I think I'll be sticking to one big novel.

I WILL JOIN YOU!

Yeah. I already wanted to do it, since I haven't really had time to start my new novel ( some 4k words right now, and I'm aiming for 75k+) since I have my math GCSEs to prepare for and my End-of-Year exams in a week.

But, after my exams, I'll have school for another month or so (but I'll carry on writing), and then I'll have summer for 2 months, where I plan to finish my novel.

And then spend the next year or so editing it. :)

GCSEs scare me. More than university exams, I reckon. But then I moved to Canada before I had to take them, haha.

It's been about a week, and I passed the 6K mark today. Yikes. That leaves a daily of about 1400 words till September. At least I think I'm going in a good direction now. My first good day was the result of missing a piece of writing that I tossed out back in February - I wish I had kept it but my desire to re-create some of the atmosphere, characters and plot points from that is a good motivation at present.
