Halloween Kickoff Party

Hey Everyone!

Who is interested in a Halloween Kickoff party on the 31st? First we hang out, have fun and then we write, write, write until those first 1662 words are down!

When and where? That is for everyone to discuss below. I would say that we at one point move to Perkins since they don't bother us much, even if we stay there a long time.

Hey Everyone!

It's your always perky and over-caffeinated ML here (it's a requirement for being an ML, seriously there's a contract... okay I'm kidding).

Are we psyched yet? Terrified? Getting those pre-NaNo tingles? Trying to not think about NaNo as much as possible? All of the above and at once? Welcome, you'll fit right in here!

So hey this is a shoutout to everyone participating the first time or returning to the awesome month that is November: Heeey!

Time for introductions? Of course!

I'm Liv (or Enk) and this is my.... uhm... sixth? 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008... yes sixth NaNoWriMo and my third as the ML of the Niagara Region. By now, those of you who are keeping track, I'm almost 28 (4 days woo!) and still live in the beautiful city of St. Catharines. I'm a Brock graduate in Theatre and Drama in Education (read: better find a job outside of my field) and I work in the Falls (in a job outside of my field, hah one down!). Funnily enough I had never won NaNo until I became an ML. In 2006, I handwrote the entire thing which went great until I lost half the novel (d'oh!) after a recycling frenzy. 2007 I barely made it. No seriously, people were nerve-wrecked with how close I cut this one, it was crazy. 6000 words in 6 hours. It was intense!

That being said, one of my favourite times of the year is November, because of NaNoWriMo. My best friend participated in 2002 and I thought she was whack. 2003, I was right there beside her and threw in the towel at 10,000 odd words. However, you get into it once, NaNo hounds you and every year I did better until I beat it and now? Oh now Ima wrangle it into place! ;) This whole idea has given so much to people, you accomplish something you'd never thought possible, you learn incredible things and meet incredible people and make incredible friends.

It's NaNoWriMo's tenth (big two digits baby!) anniversary and we're going to make it amazing!

Write-ins and Kick-off Party

Okay, I am trying to figure out logistics for this so here are a few questions:

What city/town/village/part of middle of nowhere do you live in?

What type of transportation do you have (your own, public relying on someone else, feet etc)?

What day of the week works best for a write-in?

What day of the week doesn't work for you at all?

Do you prefer morning, afternoon, evening or late night meetings?

Is there a spot where you think we should have write-ins?
