A hearty hello to Macon Mooselings old and new! :)

Lanois (Danielle) and I will be your MLs this year and I'm excited to get going on my fifth year of NaNo and fourth year as an ML for our awesome little region. For those that are new, our mascot is Mickey Moose. Why a moose? You may be asking yourself this, because of course there are no moose in Macon... And that would be your answer right there! ;)

Anyone have any ideas yet for what they'll write about this year? Jump in, say hello, and let us know what kind of plot bunnies are nibbling!

Greetings (and salutations)!
This will be my second year of NaNo, and I am all aquiver with excitement to get started. I actually completed the 50k with last year's novel (Death's Daughter) and was in the process of cleaning it up for submission when the smell of autumn hit me and I realized it was time to start pre-planning for this November.
My plot bunny this year was more of a plot dragon. I wrote a short story years ago about a girl who was being sacrificed to a dragon, and the dragon didn't eat her, but took her home instead. My mom has been begging me to do more with it, so I casually said okay, I'll make it my NaNo. And as NaNo approaches, I find myself understanding more and more why the dragon didn't eat her, and what happens to her when she grows up. I am itching to start writing, but I can't, so I'm just researching obsessively and crafting intricate timelines for my characters to thoroughly ignore come November. (I can't believe I am waxing nostalgic about willful, disobedient characters!)
Both of my daughters are planning on writing with me this year, but they're not signed up just yet and are still not sure what to write about. They just know they want to do it.
So, yeah. Plot dragon.

Hello!

I'm Heather, former ML since 2003, this year giving up my seat to Danielle to become a paid staff member here on the site. I'll still be at as many writeins as I can manage, with two bratty younglings to wrangle, and I have NO idea what I'm writing yet.

Hello fellow Mooselings. :) I'm Sherrie, back again for my 5th NaNo. Trying to get excited, but so far plot bunnies have been scares. I'm toying with the idea of an Erotica fiction this year (I like to do a different genre each year, to test the waters, so to speak), about a wealthy socialite in the 1890's who is forced on a vacation to Yellowstone National Park with her eccentric, wealthy parents, where she is first bored and then meets (drumroll for your typical cliche!) a sexy mountian man and decides to throw away her life in New England for the wild excitement of the wilderness. It sounds really corny, but unless a better plot bunny bites me, I guess I'll stick with this.

gleefulpagan - your plot dragon sounds amazing! I really like your idea.

Hello again! Gah, it's already almost October!

This'll be my fourth year of NaNo, and the first where I have literally no clue what I'm writing about. I'm currently concentrating on finishing my rewrite of last year's NaNo before November starts (preferably before the kick-off party), which is almost a NaNo in itself, but since I have a very good idea of where I'm going it's not the same thing at all. =D The only inkling of this year's NaNo is a girl whose supernatural ability is to fix tears in fabric...or so everyone thinks.

Yep. Got nothing. I'm gonna have fun this year, though. I always do.

Hi all,

This is Mitchell - Nancy's husband. This will be my third year trying NaNo and hopefully the year I win. I actually have a plot bunny this year - I can not seem to stop thinking about my story for this year. I woke up this morning with several ideas and I am afraid that come November they will all evaporate into thin air.

The premise is a freelance photographer who receives dreams from the dead. These departed spirits are always victims of serial killers and he uses the dream to uncover the bad guy and lay the souls of the victims to rest. I figured as a freelance photographer he would have reason to move around the country more often than most??? Also there is an FBI agent involved; I am just not sure when or where he/her might show up in the story.

I also think I will use Google Earth to help with location information in my story. I really got the idea when a friend recommended the Twilight books to my wife and she loaned her the set to read. The writer, Meyer, used Google to get the name and description of the town in her book by googling the rainiest town in the country and found Forks. She had never been there before writing the book.

I am excited and ready to get started.

Hi everyone! This will actually be my fifth year doing NaNoWriMo, but the first year was a disaster worse than last year and I was signed under another name. Anyway, I'm hoping for three out of five and coming out a winner with my story this year. At least I will have more time to work on my novel than in past two years.

My story will be in the Chick Lit genre again this year it turns out. A small group of women who live hundreds of miles apart, with similar interests and problems yet different lifestyles, find a true and enduring friendship in each other in our modern world. It will be a funny, sad and a warm and fuzzy feeling kind of story I suppose. Original, at least I hope. Anyway, we will see :)

Now if I could get my signature to work before November, I'd be happy. I worry so over the smallest of things. *sigh* Okay, who is next with their ideas?

Hello!

I'm Danielle, and I'm your newest co-ML, though you probably saw me around last year!

I've already got the first scene of my novel sitting in my head, and I can't WAIT to get it down on paper! I'll be continuing my apparent tradition of making up new fairy-tale-like stories for NaNo, and this year's main character (Princess Marsha) already has a frequently used phrase... "Dammit!" This should be good.

Stay tuned to the Macon forum for details about all of our events for the month of November!

Aloha!

I'm Cat, though I go by many names. This is the 5th time I'm trying NaNo. I have met success every other year and am intending to meet the 50 k mark this year if it kills me! Unfortunately this year, I have WoW to contend with on my down time and all the countless hours of television/movies to watch.

This year, I am attempting to write about Adam Bosch, your average guy working in the corporate world. He dies suddenly with only a minor blip in the Record's room in Heaven. He's stuck in limbo until eventually winds up in Hell. His nice guy attitude is quickly replaced with the "I'm tired of being a door mat" attitude and he decides to take matters in his own hands.

Unfortunately, that's all that I have so far.

Howdy!
It's Ziggy here!
I want to do a kinda random grouping of stories based on my trippy dreams and try to tie them together some how. Almost every one has to do with Florida somehow.
I want to it this year; after last year (I finally finished something!!!) I am very excited.
It's gonna be weird this year though. I am once again starting a new job. I have a feeling I will be a bit a happier in this one... I hope. Along with that, I am getting married on the 18th and I will not be back from my honeymoon to Scotland until the 3rd! That means I'm gonna miss the kick off! Bummer! I am definitely doing all I can though! So count me in!
If I can help somehow, I will do my best!

Heh, yeah I don't have to worry about the expansion pack just yet. I don't have any character at level 55 so I'm not going to bother with it. I will get to watch my bf go crazy over it. We are planning, so far, to take a week off so he can WoW and I can NaNo and maybe procrastinate with some WoW. Hopefully, I can get my act together and just make one big meal so I don't have to cook and we'll set some money aside for pizza and beer! Woot!

Hello!
Ummmm.... Second year participating. Last year I had this big idea about what I was going to do, and I ended up only getting 3/4 of the way through it all. So this year, I'm not using any of my regular characters instead, pulling out the new faces, and shoving them into something (not sure what yet). I feel like, if I don't know where the story is going, then I'll just follow my character's lead, and get rolling. =)

Howdy Mooselings!

It's great to be back again with ya'll. Haven't had a chance to meet anyone yet and dang it,
I have to work on the 25th, so I am hoping to make one of the meets in the near future to
drop in and say hello.

Until then - this is my fourth year participating in Nano. Win or lose I am in for the fun! Good luck to all!

Cheers,
Pam

Hi Sarah and JerseyGirl!
Good to see you both here. Too bad you can't make it on the 25th JerseyGirl but we'll probably have a meeting or some write-ins during November you can make. Good luck to you both on making 50K and hope to see you in November!

Hi, I'm Shane. This is my second year. I'm still trying to figure out how a novel will fit itself into renovating a house and moving, but we will see. I'm currently debating a vampire novel, to help rehabilitate the poor things after all the nonsense that has been done to them by recent pop culture. It's a bit ambitious, but it seems like something I can work with. Now I just have to figure out where and when to set it.

Hey, my name is Angel and I'm going to try my hand at it again. Like a guy said earlier, I'm hoping this is the year I finally win. The first two years, I didn't make it much past the 3,000 word mark, last year I made it to 10,000 words. I'm hoping to go all the way this year. I'm planning to do an outline before the big day and try to meet my word markers for each week. I have about 5 ideas for a story. My outline will help me decide which one to concentrate on.

I am working on television spec script ideas and I'm hoping that writing a full story will give me all the information I need to write my original spec. My biggest challenge in writing is time (just like everyone else) so I'm hoping that I won't let time get the better of me.
