Hello everyone in the Greater Milwaukee area. I saw my chance to be first to post to this regional forum and grabbed it.
So what's everyone's plans for Nano 2008. I still haven't decided what idea to tackle during the month of November. I have way too many, which is a blessing and a curse.
Any write-ins on the horizon for the area? Anyone want to take the reins and plan some?

Well, hello there! I don't have a clue about what I am going to do either. Something fun or one of those "always meant to do that" things? I am still finishing last year's! I haven't done any of the local events - no laptop. But I might pop in on one this year.

Hi - I'm new to this. What's a write-in?
I do have an idea for November's novel. But am also finishing a book that has taken me next to forever to write and I may need to postpone Nov.'s plan until 2009 if I am lucky enough to snare an agent in the next month or so. Unlikely. But if it happens, I'd need to scramble to finish final revisions. I actually hope that won't happen. I'm looking forward to the challenge of the Nov. novel marathon.
So tell me, what's a write in?

A write-in is an event -- often at a bookstore or coffee shop -- where a bunch of Nano-ers get together to write. It sounds strange, since writing is such a solitary activity. But there's something motivating about getting together with other writers. The sound of other keyboards clacking gets your own fingers moving. And it's fun to hear what everybody else is working on and what writing woes others are facing (so long as that conversation doesn't completely keep you from hitting your daily goal.)
Overall, it can help you feel connected to the many other people participating in this crazy endeavor and help you boost your word count.

I actually got a lot of writing done at write-ins last year. And had this pumpkin drink at a starbucks that was yummy.
I got a new laptop this year, with a faster processor. I think that means I type faster, right?

Count me in - I'd love to meet other writers crazy enough to attempt this. I tried it last year, but fizzled out when I learned our entire family had decided to gather at MY house for Thanksgiving. I spent November cleaning and cooking. They are going elsewhere this year and I am writing.

I participated in NaNo last year, and I want to try it again. This year, however, I am a supervisor at an independent bookstore. I have already asked my boss about doing a write-in, and she is all for it. Please let me know if you are interested. We have yummy pumpkin drinks too.

Now that I know what a write-in is, I'm all for it. This will be my first NaNo - but I've spent time in writing groups, silently clicking away, and I know the power they have.

Hey all!
I'll definitely be hosting some write-ins again this year at the MATC South Library, and have been checking around for other places that have wifi access and/or are okay about writers camping out for lengthy periods of time (planning an investigation next week of a cozy looking place called 'Moondance Coffehouse'... sounds Nanoish...). Borders in Greendale has always been good to us in that regard, even setting aside table space near outlets with a cute little sign. Probably Borders on weekends and library on a weeknight, but haven't figured any specifics beyond that. Anyone particular about certain days or times? I'm pretty much confined to weeknights or Saturday & Sunday, though, that seems to be nearly the same for most from past nanos.

That's the beauty of the write-ins we did at the library.... laptops for use in the library for those without their own. ^_^

Hello everyone!
I'm totally new this NaNo experience but have been writing for years. My biggest problem is motivation so I thought this might just be the way for me to get some writing done. I think a write-in would be super fun--hopefully one in the Bay View or Whitefish Bay area!

Hey everyone. I am originally from Waukesha but moved out Cali four years ago. I will be in Wisconsin visiting Nov. 1 and if there are any write-ins that weekend, I would love to come by.

Hi everyone! <3 I'm from a suburb, you know, boring boring.
This is my first year doing this sooo...I'm a total newb! X3
I love writing, so that shouldn't really be a problem for me at all...But write-ins sound interesting...I think it'd be a lot of fun ^.^
I'm willing to travel around the Milwaukee area for different get togethers <3 I doubt there'd be anything in the Greenfield area, but that's just fine with me ^.^

We hit Borders on 76th a couple times last year, and the Panera near 76th & Layton ^_^ I foresee some near-Greenfield stuff going on... or, you can always host a write-in yourself, too!

I'm a first-timer, I will be in Milwaukee from the 22nd on. I just decided to participate, and am thinking about having my novel set in Milwaukee. (I grew up there).
I would love to participate in write-ins. Best of luck!

Unfortunately, I'm at my parents' mercy as far as going to write-ins is concerned. (I can't drive, and even if I could, they own the family vehicles, lol.) I hope to make it to a few of them. They sound like fun. :)

Heyhey. C:
I want to go to some write-ins, but I don't know if I'll be able to. ): I don't exactly live really close to Milwaukee, but this was just the closest region. xD I'm in Ozaukee County. And I can't drive, so it's up to my dad, and I don't see him driving me to Milwaukee very often. x:
