Hey Arlington people! What is up?
Remember last year, when we met at Coffee Haus every Thursday and Saturday, and it was totally AWESOME? We need to do that again. What nights work for everyone? I'm thinking Tuesdays and Saturdays this year, since I have class Mondays and Wednesdays.
Also, I'm trying to work with the owner of Coffee Haus to set up an OVERNIGHT WRITEATHON. It would probably happen on a Friday night going into Saturday morning. Who here would be able to come, so I can get an idea of the numbers to try to talk the owner into doing this?
And please please PLEASE go to Coffee Haus as an alternative to Starbucks as much as possible! They are having hard times lately and have had to cut back their hours and lay off some people. I really don't want them to go out of business, because it is a completely awesome and laid-back place.

The only nights I have off with the two jobs is Thursday and Friday. I will usually have Saturday and Sunday until about 1 pm free. I will make it as much as I can but I can't make promises with this schedule. :)

Right now I have Sat and Sun off. If I get the job I just interviewed, it'll be Sat/Sun/Mon. The job I want is in Dallas (WAY NorthEast Dallas) so I'll be out there a lot if I get it. But I'll be around for a lot of write-ins and stuff :) Where's Coffee Haus?

Tuesdays and Saturdays work for me, but don't make any rash decisions based on my attendance (I tend to be fickle, especially on schoolnights).
Would it be too ambitious of us to set up standing write-ins at the Coffee Haus every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in November?
Can't wait until Kick-Off!!! (Info coming Oct. 1st - I promise.)

I wasn't able to go last year, but I might be able to swing it this year.
I normally work Thursdays AND Saturdays...but I might be able to come if they're later in the evening. Or I might just take a day off and come to one or two...at least for the heck of it! They always seemed like they'd be a blast.
Hope to meet up with you guys! Happy writing. :D

I didn't participate at all last year, but I want that to change.
My evenings off are Monday, Thursday, and Friday, so I'll be able to make Thursdays, but Tuesdays and Saturdays wouldn't happen for me.
Also, I'd love to do an overnight writeathon. Count me in for sure if it happens.

I'll be coming at least once a week, T/T and Saturdays are actually good days for me to try to make it to write-in's. Right now nights out with the baby don't work so well, he likes to be in his own bed sleeping. And being away from me doesn't work either. I'll just see what I can do this year, writing at home may be my best solution because TJ does sleep REALLY well as long as he is in his own bed ;)

Awesome, I was wondering if anyone else right around here was planning meetings. I'm going full time to UTA, so seeing that it's so close to campus is great. With that kind of proximity, I would be able to go to basically any and all meetings. I'm definitely interested in an overnight writeathon. Count me in.

I live in SW Arlington, and can usually do Tues and/or Thursday if I move yoga around. Is this a set thing, if so what time(s) and what nite does it start etc? Do we basically order coffee/tea and sit around with furrowed brows looking author-ly??

Pretty much... until conversations turn to togas, chickens, beards, Evil Popes, flying cupcakes, and whatever else happens to strike our fancy.
I guess we usually met from 6-9ish...? The last time I was at the Coffee Haus they'd changed their hours to close earlier (because of financial strain). Let's get them to change their minds!!!

I work 8-5, and I can usually get there by 5:30, but you can get there earlier if you want to. Right now they are closing at 7, but hopefully business will pick up enough that they will be able to stay open later.

I am a librarian at the SW branch library in Arlington, and just wanted to comment. If you are between the ages of 13-18 and are AT the central library you can go to the studio which is the basement of the library. It is a creative center. for teens only unfortunately. I've done nano twice and would love to do it again. Don't know if I will with a new baby around... but the libraries are a really great place to write. We've got coffee too. ;) <--- shameless plug

I may be able to make a Tuesday or Thursday night after 7:30 (I teach until 7:00 on T/Th). I'm also looking into whether I can offer the cafeteria/"north ballroom" at the SE campus of TCC as a location for write-ins, and will let y'all know.

Unfortunately, Coffee Haus closes at 7pm during the week right now, but hopefully that will change if their business picks up. I will definitely let you know if they open up their hours!
Everyone else: I have added the T-Th write-ins to our regional calendar! I've included links to TWO different maps (one on Google maps and one showing where you can park) so yay for maps!
I'm thinking afternoons for Saturday write-ins, maybe 2-5 or so? How does that sound to everyone?

Sounds good to me!
I might not make it to Arlington in time for weekday write-ins in they close at 7:00... depends on how things go here at school. (I'm doing the Young Writers Program with the kids, so we'll have write-ins after school.)
But I can definitely make Saturdays!

I'd get a laptop from the UTA library. Sorry for the confusion.
So Thursday and Saturday. I'm up for that Oct 31/Nov 1 write-in celebration party at the Haus. When does it start?
I've also heard about a calendar...but haven't discovered it on the site yet.

Couple of years ago we met at Atlanta Bread Company - free wifi and good coffee and low noise level. I can't attend on Wed nites, I have my writers group (in Euless, www.dfwrite.org) and can't attend on 2nd Sat, writers group (www.ntsfw.com) and can't attend on 2nd sat mornings, writers group (www.ntrwa.org) nor 3rd Monday (www.writersguildoftexas.org) nor 2 Sunday (www.ntnss.org I think).
My writer friend and I usually meet at Atlanta Bread Company on S. Cooper in Arlington or No Frills Grill in Mansfield on Thursday days. Everyone who is interested is certainly welcome. Check out our website www.ntsfw.com for place/time.
I'm open for other venues, but I don't have a car so I rely on rides. (hubby drives car to work)

:) I met my hubby at the Coffee Haus in Lincoln Square, good mojo! However, I'm not in Arlington Thurs and Sat. :(
I AM at UTA MWF though, and I was wondering if anyone ever writes up at J R Bentley's. They have WiFi, good food, good drink, and unhealthy folks like me can smoke. I was thinking of going there on Friday afternoons.
Anyone in for an early Happy Hour?

I'll need to play it by ear and see how it goes. I have a Horse Show in Fort Worth and it all depends on when I get done, It might be at the halfway point for me to meet up with everyone. I'll be hanging on the forums though for sure. :) Best of luck and everyone write daily now!
