Hello all. Since the ML is my wife I thought I would burst onto the scene and say hello to all. I am hoping that Lancaster and Cumbria do brilliantly this year and I am looking forward to meeting with you all. So since the 1st November is a Saturday how about a first writing day write-in and meet-up?

Hiya Markie. How're you?

I hope people don't mind if I venture into this forum too as I'm no longer in Lancaster. After graduating I had to move back to Manchester with my parents. *sob* But my boyfriend's still at Lancaster Uni so I'll be visiting him a couple of weekends so if you have any write-in's around the weekends I'm up there at all I may drop in :)

Ooo, sneaky hubby, posting before I do my welcome message. This soft launch was supposed to be a secret you know :P
Hello ShadowedWhispers! Of course you can come along. I'm figuring weekly write-ins at Juicafe again, and I think I've got a badge of you from the word war last year. Casey sent me through the prizes to give out :)

I'm really gonna miss juicafe - that place was perfect for write-ins! Congrats on being ML by the way :)

Ooh I have a prize? If I can't pick it up can you post it out to me?

I can post it, it's just like a little scout badge thing. It's cute :). PM me your address and I'll get it sorted. I just need to work out who is getting which one, as there's a couple of different ones.

2007: Cold Spell - finished at 96,406
2006: The Diabolist's Debt - failed
2005: Technomancer - won (not finished)

Heya, oooh I hope you can get to the write-ins as they should be good, they worked well for me last year as they kept a target for me to keep aiming to do more for. I think that former Lancaster/Cumbrians are welcome in here tbh., it stays in your blood and in the dry rot settling in your bones.

I am going to be busy (and am busy) for this years Nano as I am organising the London Perl Workshop (29th November), promoting the Enlightened Perl Organisation and still running a company, so I think I have about 2 free days in November so this will be a bit of an intense experience.

Hey! Just dropping a line to say hello to all of this year's wrimos from my area! Unfortunately I won't be able to meet up with any of you (this year) because I'm on a gap year in Japan, but I'd still love to share the experience with you guys! This is my second year but I've yet to get anywhere close to winning, I'm hoping getting more involved with the community will mean that I can help others and they can help me!

Looking forward to getting to know you all in the months to come!

Ooo, Japan! Sounds exciting :o). Of course, we're happy to have you in spirit, if not in body. Good luck with getting your first win this year.

So, as my first official duty as ML I popped down to Juicafe today to make sure that the cake shakes are still up to scratch. I'm pleased to report that they're just as yummy (and fattening) as last year. Woo hoo!

That was nice of you to put yourself out like that. I can imagine it was quite a task testing out the muffin shakes for your Wrimo's :p

Hey guys, it's me Suzanne (ShadowedWhispers). I finally decided to create a new account with a username I didn't hate. Just thought I'd better let you know so you don't wonder who Kaleidoscope27 is :)

Sneaky Suzanna, trying to confuse us!
I've buddied your new name :o)
Ooo, it's getting close to the first. Can't wait for the rest of the group to come back and see if we're got any newbies! I know a lurker I'm hoping to coax out of hiding this year, but I won't embarass him by naming him. He knows who he is!

Hello again everyone!

Unlike everyone else doing exciting things, I'm just making my way through the last year of school. Next year's Nano will be more exciting! :)

I'm looking forward to the write-in. I haven't had a single lunchtime free yet this school year, so haven't been able to try out every single Juicafe milkshake as I'd planned (what made me think that upper sixth would be less hard work than lower sixth?!) but maybe November will be the time to get started on that.

I'm running a creative writing club in school this year, so there might be a few newbies from that - although I'm not sure how interested they'll be.

Looking forward to November.

Buddied you back Leigh :) hehe sorry about the name confusion. It's just that I used Kaleidoscope for *everything* else and it makes my life easier if things match up.

Hey Emma *wave*

There's more action going on in here than there is over in the Manchester forum! We haven't even got an ML yet. Lol!

Wow, I've been officially demoted :(

*waves from the good old U.S. of A* Hi, Suzanne, Emma, Leigh, markie, etc! I have to admit, the closer we get to NaNo the more and more I miss Lancaster! Especially the Juicafe!! Hope none of you mind that I'm keeping Lancaster as my home region this year - Pennsylvania:: Elsewhere just doesn't hold a place in my NaNo heart :P

Heya Casey! How're you?

Well if they don't mind me hanging around like a lost puppy then I'm sure they won't mind you staying here in spirit either :) I may even switch back to having Lancaster as my home region if Manchester doesn't perk up. And to be honest, I had more fun in Lancaster last year with you guys than I ever had in Manchester. If I could afford the weekly train fare I'd come up for the write-ins.

I'm swamped with work, since it's my last year at uni! It's going to make NaNo very difficult but hey, isn't that what November is all about? ;)

And I'm proud to be adopted by the Lancaster and Cumbria area! I expect everyone to have a cake shake for me at least once in November in my honor :D

Hi all, good to see a load of familiar faces back again for this year's torment :D

As usual, I have no idea what I'm going to write but that's all part of the fun of WriMo :P

My main problem is I'll be going over to Norway to visit my bf in the middle of the month, so I may get a little distracted from the writing. I'll have to try and get well ahead by then :D

Welcome back! There's still plenty of time to come up with an idea :)
I'm actually way ahead of myself this year. I've already got the whole thing planned, plus I worked out the end of part three. Just need to finish filling in the middle and I might actually have a complete triology by next year :D

That's extraordinarily organised Leigh! It'd be cool though if you finish the trilogy :)

I'm in Lancaster! Well, sort of. I'm at Lancaster University visiting my boyfriend where we've already had a fire alarm and been told that there won't be any hot water for 2 days. I so missed this place.......

I know! It's scarily well organised for me. I'm even being good and trying to finish my 2005 novel before November. Shouldn't be too hard. It's only four chapters.

Is he going to take you to Juicafe? :D

I bet you can do it! Good luck :)

Oooh well we are planning on going into Lancaster today so maybe I could casually hint about going to Juicafe... hehe.

Casually hint? Sheesh, Suzanne, be a bit more assertive ;)

Hi, SavannahJaxx! Best of luck with the writing despite the vacation, I could see where that might be distracting :P

Amazing organization, Leigh, I'm not sure I've thought that far ahead :P but maybe I should try it, especially this year.

We didn't go *sad face* I did get some chocolate cake from a pasty shop though. I think I'll stop by Juicafe on my way to the station on Monday morning - treat myself :D

Hiya Savannah!

The Manchester regional forum is dead! No one's posted in like 3 days! Disappointing.

You'd think so wouldn't you? It's got 478 affiliates but I don't have a flipping clue where they all are! If no one turns up soon I'm so becoming an honourary Lancaster and Cumbrian Wrimo and setting this as my home region, sod Manchester lol.

Yes, perhaps they are just not as keen as us and they're saving all their energy for November.

Hey, guess what? I've got stickers for us! Yay!

Yeah maybe. A few more have started to raise their heads now we're into October. Oh and I've directed one over to here who's at Lancaster Uni and didn't realise Lancaster had it's own regional forum.

Agreed! I need weekly motivation (read: kicks up the bum) to get anything done...

I'm a bit worried though because my boat club training is likely to be Saturdays, which would clash with write-ins..dilemma! Obviously, the solution is for you all to have long and fabulously productive write-ins so that I can come down after training and put back in all the calories I'll have just burnt off! (Oh, and maybe do some writing...)

And some forewarning. All going well, I'm aiming to at least start on a second 50k piece this year (assuming I don't finish my first at 10pm on the 30th like I have done the past couple years!) - which will be written solely by typewriter. That's gonna be interesting at write-ins!
