Hi Folks,
Anastasia here to wish you a hardy welcome to NaNoWriMo 2008 and the new website and forums.
Of course at the moment I am confused as all get out and trying to find stuff.
So for the moment I'm going to keep in mind the words of Douglas Adams: "Don't Panic"
Cheers
Anastasia

It will all come good in time so 'Don't Panic' is very appropriate :)

Gosh, doesn't a blank screen look so very white - just itching to get started and put something down in black and white. Know that's not how I'll feel after the first rush of enthusiasm ... still its worth the go!

Can't wait either. Still not sure what to write about as I've got 2 WIPs going already but will think of something by then. As I'm getting married in the last week in November, I'll have to do some more work in the first three. Will make sure I'll take full lunch breaks to make the most of it! :-)
Happy writing!

As a major procrastinator, I wish to state that if you want to organise write-ins just say so!
*cough*
Ok, trying to shirk off duties over a month in advance is a new low and it was very very wrong of me to even suggest it.
Any other Dundee folks?

But 23's the sacred number of Eris! All hail Discordia!
I dunno, trying to move away from the most awesome of possible finish rates indeed. :p
Seriously tho, question. Does the St A, Dunffermline, Kircaldy area cover Fife in general or something like that?

Hello Folks,
Doing this for the first time, and with much trepidation! Frantically doing as much preplanning/plotting as I can, despite the Steven King quote in last week's Guardian Booklet 'How to Write Fiction'. He says that Plotting is the last resort of the good writer and the first resort of the dullard' The cheek of the man, calling me a dullard when he's never met me!
For what its worth I just bought a book by Karen S. Wiesner called 'First Draft in 30 days, which gives guidance on getting all your ducks in a row before the 'actual' writing starts. I doubt I shall follow it religiously, but it has already helped me get some things straight in my mind. Borders in Inverness had this in stock if it is of interest to anyone else.
In the meantime, is anyone here likely to be able to help me out with the occasional bit of gaelic translation in due course?
Not sure what I can offer in return... home made shortbread, insights into the workings of Local Government.... :D

Yet another 1st timer here and, like everyone else, can't wait to get started. I think I'm pretty well incapable of serious planning so I'm just making random notes as they pop into my head and hope that something coherent will come out of them when the time comes.
I'm in North Ayrshire but should be working in Glasgow city centre in November and would love to go to any write-ins that happen - but before anyone asks I can't organise them as I'm new to the area so don't know of any suitable places. In fact I'm half hoping NaNo will help me get to know a few people and places :-)

Last year there seemed to be a couple of seperate Glasgow groups that met on an irregular basis. I don't know yet what my availability will be so will not volunteer to organise anything. However I should be able to drop in on any write in style meetings.

Because you haven't been reading Hitchiker's guide to the Galaxy enough. get on with it, post haste.
Also: a thousand curses upon thee and thy descendants ten-fold, for now I shall be quoting Corporal Jones all day. Oh dear.

I hope that we'll have some meeting again this year. We all enjoyed them last year and I think they helped a few people keep going.

Hey everyone, another Scot here. Last year I was in the Edinburger, but now Glasgow.
I'm still not sure if I'll do NaNo this year - I wasn't really planning on it, but I'll confess that with the emails and updates starting to come out, I'm getting excited for it again. Combined with the fact that winter is coming on, I think - I guess I now associate noveling with November...
