[First post! Woo!]
Welcome, everyone, to the 10th NaNoWriMo and to the York & Leeds region (the best region by far, of course).
I'm Magenta, and I'm your Municipal Liaison. For those who are new to this, that means I'm in charge. : ) Any questions or problems should be directed to me. I also moderate the forum, so play nice or I'll hit you with a wet fish. This is an All-Ages forum, which means no swearing and no unsavoury discussions.
Right, that's the boring stuff out the way. Let's make this the thread for introductions. Tell us about yourselves. I'll start.
This is my 4th year doing NaNo, and my 3rd as ML. I've had two successes, but last year failed miserably (something to do with giving birth on the 7th of November...). When I'm not NaNoing, I spend my time fencing and playing with the baby (not simultaneously, obviously). Oh, and I put far too many things in parentheses. : )
Now it's your turn. Newbies, say hello and tell us who you are. Oldies, say hello, tell us who you are and what you've been up to since last year.

Hello again! I used to be aeireono, but I realised what terrible abuses I was inflicting upon the common vowel and stopped. I'm still living in Barnsley, but I don't work in a clothes shop anymore, which is a nice step up. When I'm not at work I'm generally off doing ridiculous things like drawing insanely detailed maps of places that don't exist. And this will be my... uh... sixth NaNo!

Heya!
----------I'm NaNoing from Halifax during my gap year. I've spent most of it writing Torchwood fanfiction thus far, so don't see any reason to change for November. I've done NaNoWriMo for about three years now, bu nevercompleted it. I keep mening to drag out one of my old fics and finish it, because it was good fun, but I've not got round to it yet

Hey,
This'll be my 7th nano (and hopefully the 7th success too), but the first in Sheffield, so I figured I'd see what the locals are up to here. May make it to meets, depending on where and when they're held.

Hi All
I took part in NanoWrimo last year for the first time and was so chuffed that I made the 50K. I went on to complete the book and am currently waiting for replies from agents - eek, very scary!
I'm really looking forward to November this year. I love Wrimo, it has changed the whole way I write and is hard work but liberating all at the same time. And the community on here is so amazing - writing is such a solitary activity, but here you're never alone.
Good luck everyone for this year.

Hey all! Me again. I failed miserably last year, and have spent the time since travelling, teaching, learning to paint and (finally!) getting a place at Uni. The Gap Year ends here, unfortunately, and I have to remember how to study. And wake up in the mornings.
I'll be with you all in spirit only this year, since I'll be at University during November and therefore not in Yorkshire, but I wish you all the best of luck!

Hey,
This is my first year. Wanted to join in last year but was doing a MSc at York uni, so really didn't have the time. This time round I'm free to actually do a bit of writing, which will thankfully be unrelated to academia.
Will be doing most of it from home in Lincoln, but frequently returning to York to carry out various academic commitments - this justifies my inclusion in the group...right?

Hi everyone,
This'll be my first year of NaNo! I found out about it in May, and have pretty much had a constant excitement buzz once a day since then when I remember I'm doing it xD
I've had to learn to restrain my muse, because he wanted me to start writing then and there, and not wait till November!!
Needless to say, I've changed my idea about 3 times since then >_> But this time I'm sticking with one.
Hoping that I can fit it in around my Uni work! (I'm at Hull Uni :) )
Good luck to everyone!

Welcome, all. Returning to York for academic commitments definitely justifies your inclusion in the region, Party Bear. As does being here in spirit whilst actually being in Cambridge. Hey, we're not fussy. We'll let you in just for having eaten a Yorkie bar at some point in your life... : )

Hello! I'm Atheling and I'm in my second year of an English degree at Leeds Uni. This will be my third NaNo - I won and to spare in '06 and crashed and burned horrendously last year. I hope to hit a happy medium this time around :)

I'm me, and I've been a part of the London group for the last three years, where I produced these books. Now I've moved back up to Keighley, I'm officially a Yorkshireman again. Now, because of the London connection, I'll be at their kick-off, trying to sell them books, but I'll try and be at our TGIO, so I can do the same to you lot!

Yes - me... we;; Baildon more than Bradford, but I can see thew city from the upstairs window, so near enough. My fifth attempt, present score 2-2, and will probably attempt my first crime story, thpough using a friend from an earlier story, DC - nos DS Terry Ellis, not the west riding force's most go ahead cop, what with his drinking and his ex whore girlfriend ( from my 2005 success), but a character worth writing about I think.
Anyway, got a few ideas, let's see how it goes.

Hey guys, thought I'd just chip in here quick. Saltaire writer here, so I see there's a few people around the area. NaNo'ing for the first time so it's going to be an experience. Fortunately I'm *cough* between jobs at the moment so I'll have plenty of writing time!
Anyhow, look forward to talking to you all,
/Rory
EDIT: Just noticed that Magenta and I share a couple of favourite authors in Iain Banks and Douglas Coupland. Always nice to know! (^.^)

Woo, good to be back again :)
I'm Jay, and until June I was a student at Leeds University, now a lowly dropout looking for a job. This year, though, I can't get piled up with deadlines in November, as has happened in my last two years, resulting in two utterly failed NaNos. No course this year means no coursework, and hopefully more time for NaNoing :D
I'm also on a mission to gather as many people from Leeds University as possible together and bring them along to the Kick-Off party :P

Hello guys! I probably won't be seeing you this November (unless you have a meet up on the eighth or ninth of November) because I have (finally) moved away to university! But I thought I'd drop in and say hi. My little sis will be doing NaNoWriMo again, and she hasn't moved, so you'd all better take good care of her!

Hi =] This is my second NaNo outing, (won last year... No idea how XD ) hopefully going to write something worth reading this year (and make it to one of the meet-ups). Been to Mongolia since last year, so that might work its way in somewhere. I'm still trying to think of plot etc. though (and trying desperately not to start NOW whenever I come up with a good idea...)

Hey all!
This is my first time ever to try NaNoWriMo and I must admit I only found out about it a few days ago and then promptly joined up. I live just outside of York and I'm studying for my Bachelor Arts Honours Degree in Graphic Design. (such a mouthful.) at Leeds College of art and design. I really want November to hurry up and get here so I can get on with my novel and I'm hoping I can fit at least 2000 words a day around class, work and sleep and other various and tedious everyday things such as socialising. (pff, who needs friends...I kid. XD)
Next week I'm getting screen tested for dyslexia but I'm not going to let that put me off writing as it hasn't in the past. I write allot of marvel fan fictions so writing something original should be interesting,.

Hello again dear friends, I see my sister beat me to the punch with the "hello" but no matter, I'm littlespark, or Simone to most normal people, I'm fourteen now (wow, when'd that happen? Oh yeah around March time). I was thirteen last year when I did my first NaNo and completed it, again how'd that happen?
So hopefully this year I'll be able to do the same and complete it again, GCSEs and stuff not getting in the way.
I've had about three ideas for what I am going to do since last year and have now decided to settle on something a little different for me, and Vampire Romance, but with a lot of gore and not so much romance. Pleased to say that my planning for it is not around six thousand words so that must mean that the actual thing will be longer... right?
Lolz, when I came into the region forum I was surprised to see you're using my fruit letters as the banner! Love it!
Hello to everyone, old and new, and sorry to say that I don't really remember anyone's names. I'll try and be at the welcome party, happy writing to come then!

Hellooooo wri-mers.
I'm Zacharias Masters, though anyone who's been to a meet-up knows that it's a rather deceptive name. This will be my third NaNo. My first year went fab and I crashed through 100k. Second year I don't think I managed 5k due to rather sticky university-drop-out situation, but I'm now back with renewed passion.
Just started at Leeds Uni doing English - there seem to be quite a few of us so far, we might need to get posters stuck up somewhere?
I'm also plotless at the moment. Argh.

Helloes. NaNo number two for me after last years success with 3 days spare. Aim this year - have a week spare!
The 50k was completed but the story itself. Maybe I'll get around to that as a warm for November. This years story has a title and a breif outline of what to do, we'll see if I follow that . . .
Outside of NaNo my writing seems to go into Online Forum RPGs . . . watch my postcount on those take a hit during November.
In Hull but thinking of making the trek to one of the meet ups this year.

Hello hello! =) Charlie here ~ Not a Yorkshire lass by upbringing but here studying at the University of Leeds ~ This is my first Nano and I am ridiculously excited about the whole thing. A plot is slowly forming and characters are starting to take vague shape in my head so hopefully I won't get to Halloween think that whole idea sucks and start from scratch with nothing on the 1st!
Posters around the uni would be a fab idea - I think they need to go up next week if we do decide to pop a few up in the union =) Otherwise it's a bit late for people to start thinking about it all.
Anywho, I look forwards to meeting local people involving themselves in the nano madness and I wish you all the best of luck!

Work prevented me from joining in last year, but this year I got made redundant, so unless I find a new job within the next month or thereabouts, I should have plenty of time for writing.
I'll see if I can make it to any of the get-togethers, but the downside of being unemployed is not having so much money, so I won't be able to afford to go to Leeds/York/wherever every week.

I'm Arike... this is my first Nanowrimo. I'm terrified. I'm in Leeds, can't come to the opening party cos I'll be in LDN. Hmm okay that means I have already taken two days off Wrimo and November hasn't even started yet. Erm...
