Mistress Aeryn
This is my first Writeoff and somehow it snuck up and I am stil plucking ideas, spinning straw and kissing frogs but nothing of note has stepped up. I may have to wing it. I might mention that I am not near Illawarra or south coast although I once lived in Huskisson. I am across the ditch as some say not me I prefer Bass Strait. I will let you know the status of my idea as soon as I hit the second brick wall ie writing it.

Hey, typing from Bermagui here.....about 30 minutes north-east of Bega.....where they filmed Whale Boat Bay in the movie "The Man who Sued God". This will be my first offical Nanowrimo.....i've done two years unofficially with my students when on prac. I'll be spending the first half of nov in Wagga then going back to Bermagui for the last half.
I have a few ideas floating around in the cerebral cortex.....might try to get my brother to do Nano since he finishes his HSC in October.....no exams in Nov for him....grrrr.......Looking to do a Historical fiction this time round on Bermagui.....well about a histoical site 3 minutes north of Bermagui anyway.
Can't wait to meet more of ya.

Totally, if we can. (Not sure on how my parents would be with me meeting randoms off the internet.) Although, a couple of my friends are doing it with me this year, too--it's their first NaNo. We could all meet up somewhere if people were interested. :-) I'll ask around. There HAVE to be other people here doing NaNo, I figure.
(Looking at your profile, you're a bit older than us. We range from about fifteen to seventeen and a half, so far (I'm still recruiting). But if you don't mind, my friends and I probably wouldn't mind either. ^_^)
((I added you to my buddy list to keep track of how you're going; hope you don't mind.))
(((I kind of invaded the South Coast thread, huh? XD)))

Well, hey Paula, I live at Vincentia! Literally a stone's throw from Huskisson.
This year, I'm writing a Renaissance/Edwardian urban crime thriller fantasy. What is it about? Hmm... Alchemy gone wrong. A child growing up imbued with magic bent on vengeance and a priest hunting her down as an abomination.
If anyone needs a push (read: shove) in the right direction, I'm happy to help.

I didn't understand the Region thing (first year NaNoer) and Yes I used to live in Huskisson, now live in Tasmania. Your novel idea sounds really great, I am still struggling for an idea. thought when I signed up in March I would have one by now yikes.Good luck with it. As soon as I need a shove to align plot, mc and others I might give you a call?

Typing from good old Wollongong; the smaller, hipper, younger sister of Sydney.
My nano this year is about...well, a pair of lesbian magical!girls (they hate each other, but I get the feeling that they'll be kissing by the end of it) sent back to Ancient Greece to fill in for two of the Furies and to find out where the originals have gone and if they're even still alive (spoilers: they're not). That's all I've worked out of my plot so far, but from experience I know the rest will show up when I write it.

...Er. I just went and checked your author info. (I should have known it was you) HI!!!

Also, more generally:
Hi everyone!!! I'm from near Wollongong, and my novel isn't really set in stone at the moment, except that it involves people being mistaken for robots and robots being mistaken for people.

I'm the one who started this thread, and yet I haven't even posted what I'm writing about. :p
This year I'm working with an idea I've had bubbling away for the last four years. Basic gist is that an American girl has been accepted for study at an Australian performing arts high school, and together with her new roommate is set to raise hell the likes of which her new school has never before seen. And the best part is that I'm setting it right here in the Illawarra :D Specifically in the Croom area of Albion Park Rail. I really can't wait to get cracking on this one.

Hi! I'm from the northern suburbs of Wollongong, but I've also spent a lot of time down near Sussex. This is my second year doing Nano, and I'm hoping it'll be my second win, as well. Actually, this time I'm trying to completely finish the novel... it'll be longer than 50,000 words for sure, so I'll see how I go.

G'Day mates,
I'm an American who lived in Vincentia, NSW in 1991 and 1992. This year I'm writing a crime fiction/ thriller novel set at Jervis Bay. It's the first time I've ever tried to write with the locale/setting in Australia. I have access to all the research and things I can gain on the internet, of course, but if anyone wants to help me with any specific questions that might come up, particularly about dialogue and language constructs - send me a Nanomail. I may (no, SURELY WILL) need help in the next 30 days.
Thanks in advance. Good luck with your novels - a twenty-one key typewriter salute to you from the USA! - wish I was there, particularly with the nice weather for going to the beach just around the corner.

Since I currently live on the delightful shores... okay, across the road from... of Jervis Bay, I'll be happy to assist your research.
Good luck with the novel, I'll be very interested!

Howdy! For some reason, I only just found this region tonight.
I'm from Sydney originally but have lived in 'Rilla for a few months now. If you ever shop at Shellharbour Woolworths you have the chance of being served by me at a checkout.
I'm writing a fantasy novel with some slight steampunk tendencies. The main character is androgynous and just goes against the grain in most ways.

Whoa! Hey guys! I just did a search, and there is a copy of No Plot? No Problem! at Warilla library! Funny though... I was there today, looking at the NF books about writing, and I didn't see it. Maybe I'll check again tomorrow. The library is a 10 minute stroll from my home.
