Let's see how quickly we can clutter it up?
Yes, I know I'm moving. Haven't moved yet though, have I?
(Though it does occur to me I've missed a meet today)
Got hit by a burst of inspiration of something silly I could try & write in November. See if I can remember it until then?

This year I am going to be good.

Do you actually know how to be good? Cause people keep telling me to be good or even worse to "be a good girl now." and I'm not sure I've got that figured out...

Is it me being blind, or does the family friendly star not exist at the moment?
In which case, do we have to behave?
And in that case, define "behave", plskthx

Sadly, I suspect it's just an oversight.
So please refrain from posting foul language, explicit sexual references, or any of the other things that make life fun.
Because it would be embarrassing if we were all banned before the month even starts ...

I think it would be kinda funny if we were all banned before the month starts but that would kinda defeat the whole winning the word war thing...
And I thought that there was no family friendly star last year just self censorship?

The regional fora were all supposed to be family friendly, [family friendly star] it.
Incidentally, can anybody but me see our new mission statement? With helpful Google calendar link? I've put at least two minutes' worth of effort into that, so I hope someone can ...

Yes I can see it but I can't get the calender to work. I think you might have to make it a "public calender" or some such cause when I click the link it wanted me to create my own calender account (well it linked my gmail) and it was blank

When I typed in NaNoWriMo Oxfordshire I found it (typing in just NaNoWriMo brought up loads of different calenders for other groups) but I couldn't figure out how to get a direct link.

[Family friendly star] It's meant to be a publicly-accessible calendar ... that's how I set it up ... dammit.
So far the only event I've got on it, though, is the start of the actual NaNo month itself.. (I've given specific permission to Dubaiyan, though, to do whatever she likes with it. So maybe she can see if she can add the Oct 25th meet-up to it. Or maybe she'll just paint its elbows purple. Who knows?)

Hey everyone, both old and new! *waves*
I'm back for my 3rd year, but there might be one small problem... i kinda don't live in Oxford anymore, i kinda finished my degree and have moved back home...
But home doesn't have a NaNo group/ML - so i might have to take matters into my own hands and volunteer myself!
(Speaking of which, if Steve/Dubaiyan can tell me how much work doing that actually is, that would be greatly appreciated)
If that doesn't pan out though, i'll stay tied to Oxford and try and make the drive over for one of the meets. :)

Apparently a day's worth of data loss so some new accounts and posts are missing e.g. DuraKaN's.
@ Sybil: Welcome! Calendar link for local meets is in our main regional header.
@ Dan: just scan your forum daily for questions etc and you should be fine.
Also decide on a central venue.
And get a luminous shirt.

Okay, thank you. I've bookmarked it.
This year I probably should not be NaNo-ing. I am doing my PGCE (primary) so I am bogged down with so much work. But I can't simply sit by and let NaNo happen without me, so I am at least going to try.

Just to re-iterate, I AM back and I AM competing for Oxfordshire, even if all the servers in the world conspire against me!
Welcome back Dan, and greetings Sibyl. NaNoWriMo is not about having time, it is about making time!

Hi, I'm a newbie to the region this year (I'm about to start my first year at Oxford uni), though this is my third NaNo.
Just thought I'd post my greetings (and I love the mission statement; Latin gerundives are made of win).

There's a big Border's with a Starbucks (much like Oxford) nearby, so i'm guessing that'd be a good central venue.
Do they provide said luminous shirt? I've already received this years official Nano shirt, but obviously i'd like an official organiserman one!
Filling in the application now!

You have to do two years as an ML before they give you The Shirt. It's a badge of honour, is The Shirt.

Hi there.
I'm a brand new nanoer, hailing from the frozen northlands of Aberdeen, but living in the heart of Midsomer Murders country. This is my first attempt at the challenge, and I'm excited and a little bit crazy thinking about it. I'm also hopeless at applying myself to anything for any lenght of time, so hopefully making contact with my region will encourage me to stay on track and not be distra... hey, look at the squirrel.
All the best,
starfish

They're nice to people from Aberdeen.
They even let me post messages here after I'd moved back home.
Good luck for this year! Hope some of you still remember me - as I remember you!

Yay!
Waves frantically to people who remember her, and people who wish that they had known her so that they could remember her (special mention to Steve!). It's a long way down to Oxford, so you have to wave frantically if you want to be seen.

Callie, make yourself known - if you haven't already - to the wonderful lady now heading up the Aberdeen group. Helen. She will help you get your word count. She has a stick. She will poke you with it.
I miss Aberdeen. Just moved to Oxford for a year course at Brookes. Want to go back!

(I missed Aberdeen the whole eight years I was in Oxford. But Nano made it bearable).
The one and only time I did Nano, I finished about a week early. My only problem was my story ended at 48 000, so I had to go back and add a couple of scenes. And I did post on the Aberdeen thread, but am being all silly and scared about meeting up with them.
