So, does anyone else have a title for their NaNo this year?

My working title for the book is "The Watchers"

I'm still deciding... one of them could be Shanghaied, a pirate story. But the other one, which doesn't have a title, is actually starting to sound... not bad!

I don't have a title yet. I'm hoping one comes to me, but if it doesn't it'll be okay, because I've got a story, and that's all that matters right?

Hi all,

No title for me. I don't usually consider a title until the story is finished. I'll be reworking the tale of legendary Irish hero Fionn mac Cumhaill - and I do mean reworking. In my version of the story, he will be a woman. *wink*

when in doubt, change a gender and see how the story would turn up differently. I sometimes when I am bored switch character genders in my story and think as many ways I can on how the story would be different.

Hi Coryashire! It's great to connect with you Salemites(?) again this year. Will I see you all at Wordstock?

My grandmother always swapped character gender when she was spinning a tale that was originally male domintated. Wanted me to grow up knowing that I could do anything I wanted - even if I was 'only a girl'. It must have worked. I've done a lot of things that are traditionally meant for 'the boys.'

I plan to come to wordstock both days (is it two days, or three?)

I have a title only because this book has been planned for four years this november. it is the fourth book in my series, and I have a third draft of the first book, and first drafts of the secound and third books. I recently a few weeks ago finished the third book's first rough draft, and now I cant wait to get started writing "the watchers", which is a title that has been stuck in my head for about a year and a half now. It just feels like the right title for the book, compaired to others which might be more interesting, but a little too interesting if truth be told; they likely would reveal way to much.

Hi Jayel!

Good to see you here! We will be at Wordstock, we've got our booth and we're trying to see if they'll let us come in and do some writing while we're there. Hopefully we can!

Sounds like your Grandmother was a great lady :) Hope to see you around a bunch this year, you're always welcome at our events!

dont worry, filler is allowable in any writing not written by Christopher Paolini, who wrote a 750 page book that had 600 pages of filler fluff.

Mine's called The Spirit of Time!

Vaguely inspired by Doctor Who. >.> It's about a space ship that crash lands in Central Park, and these two college kids take her in and try to figure out why she can't remember who she is, where she came from, and why she seems to have the ability to control time.

Okay I said it will happen and it did. I got a totally different plot and story idea in my head so I will have to lay down my previous idea.

So my new title is "Ripe".

Hmmmm. Interesting. It involves a killer and crazy stuff. Definately a thriller.

Well, I put up my title, then the forums went down and I'm finally getting around to putting it back up again.
At this point, my title is Fair? Naturally (it's not)... I'm not totally sure what it's about. I've a few ideas, but it's entirely possible I may change stories (I do have another plot idea, but it hasn't got a title.)

ok, in the last 24 hrs, i've set aside for now (read as- dumped) the first idea that i had for NaNo. it was sci-fi and just not really in my comfort zone.

so, i now have a new story, in my comfort zone of adult contempory, and a couple of possibilities for a new title. it will either be "A House of Cards" or "Crying Wolf" or "The Glass House". the story revolves around a man who has told so many lies that he can no longer separate fact from fiction.

is it Nov 1st yet?

Saphiroko: Love your idea!

Title? What title? Do I have any idea what I'm going to write about? No! And I'm not going to steal HERS... although it does sound cool... Heck, maybe I'll just call it "What Title?" and write a thinly veiled autobiography about a writer trying to win NaNo. :-D

JayelGibson wrote:

I have it on good authority that we're known as "Salemanders". Further south we have "Albanos" and "Eugeneics". I have NO idea what to call someone from Port Orford, though...

Your grandmother sounds like a great lady. She must be very proud of you.

P.S. About two hours after I posted this, I went up and changed my title to "What Title?" and I'm now in the genre of Satire/Parody. The longer I thought about it, the stranger and more fun it sounded. We'll see if I can make something of it.
