We're gearing up for another fun month and I know everyone's thinking about what they are going to write this year.
Personally, I have so many stories "in process" at the moment, I just can't start anything new...lol
What I've decided to do is write mine as a hodgepodge of pieces of what I'm already writing. Admittedly it will probably be mostly my twist on te King Arthur Legend, but we'll probably see clips of the vegetarian werewolf, my gypsy clan, my not so super superhero and possibly even my conspiracy theory story which starts off in a car dealership and has a car salesman as the main character.
All in all, it could be a pretty interesting "novel" by the time I'm done...with any luck I'll have another story finished at the end.
So what's on your mind for this year?

Hmm.. I'm thinking of trying something a little different. I still have an in-progress vampire story, but I've recently become hooked on werewolves, so I'm thinking of tapping into that for this year. The main character is probably going to be a princess of some dead land, the main character a werewolf -- with my own twists on your stereotypical Were -- and of course a world where magic is commonplace.
I think it'll turn out to be a pretty good story when it's done... as long as the characters cooperate, of course.

Mine's going to be the sequel to last year's novel, since Beckett decided to go and "die" on me, which set into motion a plan by Reese to go after him. *sigh* They have minds of their own.
Anyways, yeah. Reese looking for Beckett, only to find out that almost everything he learned in the first novel was wrong and/or planted and/or a lie and/or his house's fault (his house is "haunted" by spirits related to Beckett, and therefore end up influencing everything Reese does). Reese must look through the clues left by the house as he grew up there to piece together a plan to end the war that killed Beckett's people and forced them into hiding, along the way trying to keep himself alive as he himself is targeted.

I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what to write this year. The year before I did sci-fi, which didn't really pan out, last year I did satire, which /did/ work. I've wanted to do a horror story or thriller for awhile now, but don't really know where to start- Detective? Ship at sea? Cabin? Cliche.

I think I've finally got it singled out, and I'll be working on a post-apocalyptic story...sort of. What really happens after Dec 21, 2012. And hopefully I won't get struck down by lightning from blasphemy because of it.

Sweet. I've actually been wanting to read some theories on that recently. Weird...

hey guys!
This year I'm planning (my plans have already changed once, which means they could change again) to write a superhero story set in a world very similiar to ours were people with special abilites are hidden away and used in gladiator style fighting. . .hopefully it'll come out with some more depth, but , if not, there should be some really awesome fight scenes.

I'm not concrete on my plans yet, as like Selena I have a billion works on progress I should tie up, but in the spirit of NaNo, I could always use another "almost done" novel I guess. I used JulNoWriMo to finish another novel project draft, so I am going with something fresh this time. I'm thinking about doing a Zombie piece, something really different from my usual taste and style. That's the plan... for now.

MaGyver-
There was an "Angel" episode like that once you might want to check out for inspiration/ideas. The premise was these guys were kidnapping all kinds of supernatural creatures like vampires and demons and locking them in with some kind of enchanted bracelet that would vaporize them if they crossed over their boundary lines. Then they would make them fight a certain number of fights to win back their freedom, unfortunately it was a win or die situation so few of them could actually hope to achieve this.
You might be able to find it online or at the very least a typed synopsis of the whole episode.

How bout starting it somewhere ordinary? Supermarket, parking lot, holiday celebration...

Got a fantasy in mind with races of people based on elements: earth, air, fire, water.

NanoWrimo is a new thing for me. I have never written a novel, never even a fictional short story. I am new to writing in general that is not within my profession (I'm a diversity consultant and educator). I am scared and excited by this whole possibility.
The novel at this point is basically expanding on a dream I had about a month ago. I am working from the title "The Bull Dagger in the Basement." It's about a young boy who gets life advice from a woman that is hiding/imprisoned/being hidden because people believe she is a lesbian.

Some of the most original and creative stories come from the dreams we have...I've got several stories I'm working on based on dreams I've had....
But it tends to leave you with strange questions...like:
Why did the bulky superhero think he needed to wear the silk pink dress to protect him from the poison gas?
I still don't have an answer to this...but someday I'll get to that scene and it will all be revealed....I hope.

Haha, nice, Selena. I had a dream once where my male history teacher was dressed in a pink tutu. It was frightening...
But anyways. The prologue from my '07 novel was originally a dream. It was the turning point where two vague wisps of ideas exploded into novel plot. Cha.

My story is a combination of scientific politics, medieval and global folklore. Some of you may know that a couple years ago scientists redefined the definition of a planet so Pluto is no longer a planet. And you may also know the old belief that the planets were pushed around the sky by angels. In my story the angel in charge of pushing Pluto is now out of a job and is scared of where she may be reassigned so she flees to Earth. Several obscure beings from various folklores and mythologies around the world try to hunt her down hoping that fining her may give them shots at better positions themselves. Everyone confused yet.

PS. wait till you see some of the obscure folklores I've found! I hope writing it will be as much fun as researching it has been.

Ok... So, I changed my mind. My werewolf plot seemed a little -- well, non existent, so I started thinking about something else.
Four gods are reincarnated into four teenagers -- two gangsters, a hippie, and a guy who's just trying to fit in in the college he chose half way around the world from his familly -- to fight an evil from the god's time that is jealous of the god's success in creating worlds of their own to raise armies. Needless to say, these kids are in for some shockers. There will be some unwilling attractions, romance, battles, violence, twists on some religious views, and twists on some old legends. I still don't know exactly where I'm going, but it'll be interesting.
How long til we get to start writing? Lol.

Ditto, and same for WishesOfImmortality. Mythology is always fantastic.
