Hi everyone! ML here, wishing everyone a warm and friendly welcome to the Reno NaNo-ites!

This will be my 2nd year as ML and my 5th year doing NaNoWriMo. We've had very successful NaNo years, and I feel positive this year will be as fun and creative as the past years.

We will plan several write-ins during the month throughout Reno, Sparks and the Carson City area. These are a great way to meet your fellow writers and to get some ideas to help you survive the insanity that writing 50,000 words in a month can be. Please check out the calendar regularly to find write-ins that you can attend.

We will have a kick-off party in October. I'll post a separate message in a few days, to get that up and running.

If you have any questions, please post them here or send a NaNo Mail to me. If I don't know the answer I'll try and find out for you.

Above all, have fun!

Nice to see people active here already! I'm in Fallon.

I've been wanting to do NaNoWriMo for a few years and am finally treating (...?) myself to it. My main question is...will I survive? lol

Hello.
A first timer here. Just dipping in my big toe to see what's what.

Howdy y'all. I too am a first timer. I've had several of my colleagues participate in the NaNo, but this is the first year I've had opportunity to do so myself.

I'm a Nevada native, with a LOT of writing under my belt, so I hope that my skill will see me through. And as I see many of you are also near to where I live. I guess being in Reno is like being at the center of a wheel, no?

Anyway. Good luck to all this year.

Hi, y'all!! Special wave to LorieDarlyn, my bud in Cartoon City! So glad you've signed up for the insanity, oops, FUN!

My second year -- last year's effort is languishing in the editing phase and taking up precious desk space.

Hope to make it to at least one of the write-ins - I want to put faces to the names - and to that end, I've got a dinosaur of a laptop ready to go. No internet, minimal battery power, just plug it in and type like mad!

And really, all you newbies, it IS fun. A month-long free license to go unshowered, neglect the housework and eat all the dark chocolate you want! Bliss!

Can we start yet? Huh? Can we? Pleeeez?

Oh, and how do I get my signature block to pop up on posts?

Hi, everyone! I'm Lara, Carsonite extraordinaire, and this is my sixth year participating (holy cow!), which means I have some five incomplete novels that I'm studiously ignoring. I went to a write-in at Comma Coffee last year and had a great time, so I'm hoping I can see my fellow NaNoers at some point in November again and not be a complete hermit.

I'd totally write in at Comma Coffee. Hey, Jo_Narlene, wanna join in?
Did you see that Heidi Ayarbe is having a book event there next week? Local girl makes good. Anything can happen...

LorieDarlyn, I am TOTALLY up for a write-in at Comma Coffee. Saturday afternoons or Sundays are better, or, you know, I might just take a day off from work and spend a morning in a coffee shop, typing and drinking mochas. How wickely decadent! You with me?

It's great to see so many new masoch... I mean people joining us this year! Jo_Narlene said it well.. "Bliss!" During those days when you don't feel that way, just drop in and whine and cry to us. There'll be someone here that will let you cry on their shoulder, then spin you around to give you a swift kick. :)

Liathiana, glad to see you again!

Hope all of you will join us at the kick-off party and a few of the write-ins and GOOD LUCK!

Well.. giving it a go this year. I read the book three years ago, tried to participate for the past three years, but didn't get very far!! LoL , it's a rather wonky month for this to happen in (college midterms and all), but I figured I'd give it a solid go this year. At this point, what's a little more stress?!!!

Good Luck Everyone

Hello all, second year here and I can't wait for November to start. Hopefully this year I won't decide to start over by the second week or slack off on the third.

Bah. Anyway, good luck everyone!

Hey. Jordan aka Darikana here. I live in Sun Valley. I participated last year, but I didn't win. I hope this year I'll get AT LEAST closer to 50000 words than I did last year. I don't know if I can win :-) I'll sure try though!!!

Hi Everyone!
This will be my 2nd year doing Nano and I am REALLY excited about it. I made 50K last year so I'm hoping that I can make it happen again this year. I LOVED the write-ins last year in Reno, and since I have just moved to Carson City I am hoping that I can make some in Carson also. I work on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, so I hope that we can plan some during the week also. :) I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hey there, glad to be moving to an area that has actual members writing in November. Up here in Canada, where I live, I've been writing solo for a couple years now. :(

I'll be coming down by the end of the month so I should be able to attend all that I can attend. :D

Happy to meet you all.

I'm actually from Reno, but married a Canadian, now...ultra cliff notes version...we're splitting and I'm coming home.

So, naturally, I'm gonna write some type of horror novel, with lots of blood and betrayal and what not, to get it all out of my system, haha. :P

I think that is a wonderful idea. Great time to write a horror novel, and make lots of new friends. :)

Wow! I didn't even think to check here, yet. But it makes sense. The Nano boards start rockin' in October. My name's Shelly, and this is my 6th Nano attempt, I think. I have never won. I've never written more than 10,000 words of anything. This year I have a plan. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha. It's not an evil plan. It just felt like a good place for an evil laugh. ;-)

Last year I lurked and didn't actually participate. This year I plan to join the write-ins as often as possible. I need all the help I can get if I really want to make 50,000 this year.

Thanks, Yve, for taking on the task of ML again. Hope to meet you soon.

Shelly =)

This is my third year and hopefully my first win. I skipped last year because school was sucking up too much time. My schedule this year is a bit lighter and any procrastination I do will probably be focused on school work.

Hello, all! I finally made it in to the group--after discovering that the reason I couldn't get signed in is because "they" dropped me from the NaNo site. Silly glitches. All's well. I'm back in after going through the sign-up process again. This is the fourth (hmm...yeah, I think that's right) NaNo for me. You'd think I'd learn... Best of luck to all and looking forward to meeting you.

Hi, all!

I'm Helga, and this is my fourth year doing NaNo. Somehow (probably natural obstinance and a lot of desperation), I've managed to get to 50k every year so far. I won't let this year beat my perfect record!

I live down by my lonesome on a farm in Douglas County. I'm going to try to make it to as many write-ins as possible, though if I'm waaay behind on my wordcount I'm not sure I'll be able to justify spending two hours driving to get to Reno and back. :) (Unfortunately, this is likely. I've a lot of practise at procrastination.) I'll also be planning an all-day write in or two down here for those of you who'd like to let fresh country air and gorgeous views inspire you.

I'm eager for November to start, and looking forward to writing alongside all of you!

Yours,
Helga

Hi everyone! This is my very first NaNoWriMo attempt! I'm a little nervous but I think it'll be fun in a sick way... I'm out in the boonies... (i.e. Silver Springs) so I may not get to make it to too many meetups but I'll try!

Hey. This is my first time doing nano, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to survive it already. I have so much to do in school that it seems like pure masochism to pile more on. I am hoping to be able to go to a couple write ins. However, I am only 15 and I live in Carson, so getting my dad to take me all the way to reno is sort of a hassle. I'm all up for a write in at Comma Coffee.

Hi Everyone,

This is my first year with nanowrimo. What a great resource! After various existential crises surrounding "career choices" and/or "what I want to do with my life," I decided to give writing a go. Whether or not I ever get published, writing is how I'd like to spend a good chunk of my time. I thought this would be a great way to get started. I can't wait!
