Hi All,

Has anyone heard about any local support meetings being planned for the Toledo area?

Also, its 23 Days, 5 Hours and 50 Minute to go before we get to start the 2008 NaNaWriMo.

I'm sure you will do fine.. The first rule is give your inner editor the month off or better yet lock it in the closet or trunk and don't acknowledge it until December.

and most of all have fun

Turning off the whispering editor will be a major obstacle to overcome. I'm looking forward to the challenge. I have no plot figured out, not sure what genre I'm heading for, no title, no names of characters, no setting. I'm just going to start writing and see what spews out.

I have all my ideas for the book all lined up already. =]

Doing an organized write-in would be great. But since this is my first NaNoWriMo, I don't really know how to do it... I'm trying to organize a NaNo group at my high school. Any advice?

I'll be in the area the week of Thanksgiving. I'd love to go to a write-in, or possibly put one together if folks are interested. Enjoy the Buckeye state!

Hey gang! Guess who?????

Yes, I'm back and ready to boogie this year. You know, I have no idea which novel idea I'll be working on, but heck I've still got 13 days left to make that decision, right?

But it's great to be back and would love to meet with everyone on our weekly basis at B&N and maybe even a weekend morning for breakfast for all of you supercharged AM writers. I'll start another string and see what we can get as far as meetings and times go.

Hey, has anyone stepped forward to be ML this season?

Talk to everyone very soon!!!!

Hey xxfourthelement,

yes, there is advice out there for the ambitious high schooler who wants to start a nanogroup.

There are just a couple of tips that I might offer and there is also a forum set up for teen NaNovelists. I believe it's called:
Home » Forums » NaNo Groups
Age Group: Teens

What I might suggest are these things:

1) go to a creative writing teacher in your school and grab them by the lapels of their tweed and or suede jacket, shake them vigorously... unless of course it is a lady, and then grab them by their oversized novely jewelry... unless of course they shatter all stereotypes.... then ask them respectfully for help. If they have not heard of NaNoWriMo yet, try very hard NOT to roll your eyes and utter comments about their ignorance, but slowly and gently explain it. I find sock puppets work best. "Then the Chris Baty fairy brought NaNoing to all the good little boys and girls..."

2) You might even see if you can get extra credit for doing it.

3) Check and see if there is any way that you can get an announcement made during the english/writing classes and make yourself the contact. Try and get a room for weekly, bi-weekly, tri-weekly, or whatever-eekly meetings. Get everyone who is interested to commit to making the meetings, bring muffins or donuts day one. That gets em every time.

4) I would invite any teacher who shows interest in the program to attend just as a showing of respect for their intelligence and good taste/judgment.

5) And then when you get everyone hooked on week 6 hit em' with your Amway pitch. Mwuahhahahha! Works every time.

Hope these help. But either way, come out and see us when and where we decide upon our meeting times. Either way, you'll have a Toledo community to support you in this most ridiculous and rewarding of efforts.

Talk to you soon and best of luck!

Hello.

Signed on in a weak moment when the NaNoWriMo police sent me an email badgering me for not signing up yet for this year.

(already got those long, crappy sentences flowing forth...see above)

Have no idea what I'm writing about, if at all.

But I can't play if I don't sign up, so I did.

Ahoy.

Well, for two years in a row, now, I've attempted NaNo-ing and failed miserably. But this time I've got something I didn't have, before: a genre! And a general idea of where I want this story to go! That's right, I've decided that this time, it'll actually go somewhere. A radical idea, I know, but I think it might be crazy enough to work.

As Bullwinkle would say, "This time, for sure!"

Hi,

This is my second year trying Nano, and the first year I failed miserably so I hope this year goes better. I'm a Latin teacher, I like cooking and baking, and I can't wait for tomorrow! Nice to "meet" you all. :)

This is my first year. I toyed with the idea last year but never got around to it. It is the most ambitious item on my "101 Items in 1001 Days" list I started last year. NaNoWriMo seemed like a good way to get started.
