Hey guys, I'm a Texan in Arkansas--just moved to Searcy in order to attend Harding University. Since I'm absolutely hopeless at geography, I was wondering if someone could tell me where I should go. It appears to be split between NW and NE?

There's usually a couple of groups in Central Arkansas but they're still a bit of a trip from Searcy. One meets in Conway and one in Little Rock. I haven't seen anyone post yet about either on the new forum. I know one was talking about Conway before last year's forums were reset. I'm sure someone will soon.
I don't think the forums were supposed to be back up until October 1st. Things should get busy around then.

Not NaNo-related, but FYI, there is a group there (mostly folks older than you, but some cool people) whose website is http://www.whitecountycreativewriters.org .
But, yeah, see if anyone's in the East (ish); otherwise hop on down to Central AR (Little Rock, Conway, Benton, Jacksonville, Cabot are some cities in the middle).
Welcome!

Yes, I am not far from the area. The WCCW indeed are older folks, and I do not think they are interested in this project. Even so, you could check with them. They have monthly meetings, speakers, and contests in short story and poetry. I attended a couple of times some years back, but it was simply not for me. Who knows, you may enjoy it.

I am in Cave City, about 45 minutes from Searcy. I have planned on joining WCCW for some time, but just haven't had the time to do that yet. I don't know of any groups in this area, though.
