Hello everyone! Here's the information requested for the Kick Off Party
Just bringing over the text from the email I sent.
What: Kick-Off Party
When: October 27, from 7:00-9:00
Where: Pepper's Taqueria in downtown Vancouver, on the corner of 8th and Main
Link to Map: http://portland.citysearch.com/profile/map/10900514/vancouver_wa/pepper_...
Who: You and any members of your household who want to come to support you (and let's face it, have a little fun)
Why: I'm so glad you asked...
This year's Kick-Off party promises to be something really special. We have been planning almost a month, and each day something new and exciting comes up. Right now, we have guaranteed goody bags and various writing stuffs. We are in the process of collecting door prizes to give away throughout the evening--but you have to come to get one. We also have some fun games and activities lined up that should get us into the writing mode and help us get to know each other a little bit more.
Food and drink at Pepper's is very affordable--you can easily get both for $7-10 a person.
We look forward to seeing you all on Monday, October 27 as we kick off this NaNo season.
We have a few options that we've come up with for possible locations for our annual party!
Here is the plan: In previous years we have always had our Kick-Off (KO) parties on a Friday or Saturday. This has been a conflict for those people who work on weekends, as well as the people who find it easier to go out on a week night. So we've got a few options for you to try and open up the availability of persons interested in coming, as well as making it so everyone has an opportunity to participate in some form. We really want to know everyone in the area, and you would be surprised at how meeting a few like-minded people can help to motivate you. In real life, it's not as if everyone we know is a writer, or even understands what it's like to be engrossed in a novel. Can't you imagine the thrill of being able to have conversations with other people who can contribute ideas to your story and want to see you succeed? There's no real feeling to compare to it.
We will still have our Write-Ins scheduled on Friday, Oct 31st (Shari's) as well as November 1st (Washougal Library) as can be found in the main forum page, at the top in red.
If you are interested in going to any of the above, please RSVP here, so we can be certain who will be coming. It is important that we reserve enough space.

The evening of Monday, Oct. 27th works fine for me. I have no preference of place.
Thanks for organizing all of this! You ladies are doing a swell job.

I wouldn't be able to go to the Washougal library. Metallica is in concert that night, and my fiancé has already gotten tickets for us.

I have no preferance as I'll be in Mexico on the 27th. Wish I could be there though. No, wait, I think I'd still rather be in Mexico! lol!

Yeah, if I had a choice between Mexico or Washington in October, there would be no contest. When are you getting back? Will you be getting your first words on your novel written under the Mexican sun?
As for the kick-off, I will be talking to a potential site tomorrow. If everything goes well, you will all be getting an email from me tomorrow night with location/time information. I'm shooting for 7-9, to give people time to get home from work and sit for a minute before they go out again. (The added benefit of 7:00 is that if you really can't afford to buy anything at the restaurant, it gives you time to eat dinner at home first.)

No, we get back on the 30th, just in time to unpack and start writing!

Hey, I have a question.
Is it cool if I arrive late? I have a staff meeting that night, that should really only go until 7:30 or so, and then I could come over to Pepper's. I might have to leave early as well, depending on the bus schedules. Would that be ok? I just wanted to make sure it wasn't like...set timing, and I wouldn't be able to get in if I was late or something...

Not a problem, Melissa. :) We all know how work schedules go. Get there when you can, and we'll be glad to see you as long as you can stay.

somewhere above the fair to middlin' range that I'll show up. My wife wants to come too but I think she works 'til nine. No wait! She currently does NOT work that day ....!
so expect a couple more. Mind you I don't know where Peppers is but 8th/Main I should be capable of finding.
How's the atmosphere? Will we be able to talk about upcoming characters and plot holes?

I think a kick off party will be a positive start to what I think will be a good Nano year. That being said, you can count me into the kickoff party!
Plus Pepper's has very nomable food.

I have that day off, so I will be there with my sister, another participant.
Ok we aren't really sisters, my mother decided her daughter was her granddaughter and things progressed from there. Anyway we will be there possibly with a teenager.
Peppers is just a block down from where a McD's failed some years ago. Got a coupon.

Thank you, Nancy and Lyndsey, for hosting an awesome Kick-Off Party! I don't think the Vancouver region has ever had such a large attendance. The character-making activity was fun and I'm still giggling over the free write I did with that bizarre character. I'm looking forward to the write-ins and to finally WRITING!!
Thanks again! You two rock!

We have an awesome gathering of writers! It will be so interesting to see what develops in their stories. Who they kill off, who they make fall in love. Who simply gets the best "one liners ever!" It's going to be a busy but fun November!
Thank you all for a great turn out, and thanks for putting up with my pacing last night.
