Is anyone here from Garland? I am having a really REALLY difficult time finding writing buddies in my piece of garland. I am planning on writing a lot at Richland College (Richardson technically but its where I go to school) and in the Firewheel Towncenter in the Barnes and Noble. Please message here or message me if you want to meet up anytime or want to set up a write in, especially if you go to Richland. I think most of my writing will be at school, but I am open to suggestions on places to meet up. November's getting closer!!!!

I'm in the Plano area, but close to Firewheel. So I'm up for any write-ins there.

I'm in Mesquite, but I might be game for a meetup/write-in.

I live in Rowlett, but the Barnes and Noble at Firewheel is one of my favorite haunts. It would be cool to have a write-in there ... or at any Starbucks....

Sweet!!!! The Barnes and Noble at Firewheel has a lot of space i think, I have never really noticed seating before, I always just sit in the Cafe. I wonder if the Barnes and Noble would actually sponser a write in or if they already have one planned. I might go check that out today, it would be awesome if they did have one planned. NaNo is almost here!!!

I love the idea of Barnes and Noble. The Starbucks cafe there has quite a bit of space.

I know this might sound kind of lame, but I was also thinking that we could meet in a library somewhere for one of these write ins. Nicholson Memorial Library in downtown has a lot of space for people to set up their laptops and has free WiFi... Like we actually need WiFi.. We need to write! But still! :) Also, they would probably be really interested in sponsoring a NaNo related event.

Plan your own write-in! You can mention it to the Event Coordinator if you want it mentioned in their newsletter/calendar (unfortunately, depending on theirpub dates, it may be too late for November events... depends how much they can do "in-store" and how much is printed by corporate), but write-ins and other like events are usually planned by participants, not bookstore employees.

I'll bet they'll let you post fliers in the store (I think they're under "Fun Stuff" on this site), because they'll love the extra publicity and customers.

I'll open up a "Write-in" thread soon for people to post when/where they plan on having write-ins. Make sure you post your times/dates there!

Yeah, I work at B&N Firewheel, and as far as I've heard, we have nothing planned. But, if anyone wants the contact info for our community relations manager. She's the one you would talk to about having a write in. But honestly, we don't see a huge turnout for things we plan most of the time.... we'd be better off just advertising here. There's nothing wrong with people just showing up to write. Obviously, buying is always appreciated for use of the space. :)

Besides, since it's not technically a starbucks, we have all kinds of good stuff that the real starbucks don't get, like cheesecake factory stuff, and pretty good sandwiches.

I live off the cheesecake at the cafe, since cheesecake factory is so far away for me. It'd be cool to head up there and we can all eat sandwiches and write for a while. I'm buying the NaNo 10th anniversary shirt so i'll be easy to spot. I don't see way to many people heading in to write for nano so hopefully we wouldn't be a burden if we did get a group together. No need to worry, I am all for supporting the store with my purchase of insane amounts of coffee and cheesecake :P

I think it might be in Richardson, but is anyone up for meeting at the Starbucks on renner and northstar on a sunday afternoon?

Hi, I live in Richardson, near the Garland border (Beltline/Plano) and will be up for write-ins in the area. I work near Richland, and have had good luck writing there.

Another suggestions for "places to write" - everybody always thinks of Starbucks and other coffee shops - I also like to remember the Boba Tea places. There are a bunch of them around Garland/Richardson, many are open late and have wifi (though I don't think wifi is good for NanoWriMo), and, most importantly, their Smoothies are really good.

In short, I'm up for write-in's if I can fit them in my schedule, I'll keep checking here and post if I'm able to get out and know it ahead of time.

I live in Richardson, but either place suggested of Richland or B&N at Firewheel is great for me; I live right in between the two places. Hmmm....I teach at Richland. Small world. But, just think....getting me to write words without editing for the pure beauty of adding to the count will be a comedy to behold! Darn professorial type and all.
