Using conspiracy theories in your writing?

My wife thinks I ought to. Haven't decided what my topic is, but as much as I've been reading on the subject, some might get in.

Let's face it, conspiracies have to be behind some of the things going on.

Consider HAARP and the unusual hurricane in the northeast.

I was thinking about using my theories, but decided against it in the end. One of these years, I'm going to write a novel using a theory or two, but the time isn't right.

Let's face it--in a world where Sarah Palin is running for any office more demanding than dogcatcher, no theory is too unbelievable.

If anyone move up to a position of power with unbelievable speed, you know there is a conspiracy behind it.

With Sarah Palin, you have to wonder how she made it so high so fast, and why so many are willing to keep some of her past secret.

A plot idea for someone:
How would a relatively unknown make it to prominence fast? What would they do, who would they use, and who are they helping? What is their real agenda?

I'm having trouble believeing I'm the only one here for this.

Conspiracy is two or more people working together to accomplish something.

Most of the people doing nano are writing about a conpiracy of sorts.

Detectives working to solve a crime, politicians working to get elected, criminals working to rob a bank, women's group wanting to organize a party.

A conspiracy theorist could teach you about how these things work, successfully, and how to expose them if they shouldn't be.

Surely you don't think that the candidates for president got to where they are by themselves. How did they get to where they are so fast? Why are the people behind the scenes wanting these people to be in power?

Think about it.

Let me know some of you views and ideas. We may be able to come up with some great ideas together.

The problem with threads and forums for Conspiracy Theorists is...
if there really was a Conspiracy, which obviously there isn't, this would be the perfect way for THEM to find out who they need to 'silence'. THEY, who do not exist, would have no problem with 'removing' the average person... after all, they killed JFK and Marilyn Monroe...

However, I do not believe in the conspiracy theories, my hat is not lined with tinfoil, and I am not using someone elses' account on a computer I am not about to blow up.

I mean it.

Really, I do.

I love all conspiracy theories that sound reasonable. My friends thought I was crazy when I was writing an article for my journalism class on the Patriot Act and how the government has used it to become rather Orwellian--to an extent, of course.

I often don't believe most things I see. I think I mainly got into conspiracies from my favorite band, Muse. My boyfriend is also sort of a 9/11 conspiracy theorist and while I don't believe everything in the conspiracy theories, I do believe parts.

Nice to know there is someone else who knows SOMETHING is going on. I don't believe EVERY conspiracy either.

Most people don't see what's happening before their eyes, and the PATRIOT ACT is one of those things. Gradual change is easier to accomplish than sudden. Nice to know someone else can see that.

A lot of people get upset when they hear these things, it comes with the territory. To me, it is more upsetting that they're getting away with this stuff, and that so many don't even notice.

They won't notice until it's too late.

I have found my home!

All the different tech toys that everyone loves freak me out. My boyfriend, who is a really big geek when it comes to tech stuff, loves to fantasize about tech getting all advanced. But that really freaks me out. I mean, in a country where they're considering using the GPS and tracking stuff in your car to see whether or not you ran a red light you have to wonder how much privacy you really have.
And, no, that's not all coming from re-reading 1984. Though, Orwell was totally right.

Actually, the GPS is already in cars, you just don't know about all of it.

If you think the cameras in 1984 are freaky, they have them now in England, it's in the news.

Orwell saw it coming.

If you think the cameras are just for checking on running red lights....

The GPS chips are now required in cell phones since 911. Think it's just for your convenience?

They have the technology to do more than you think without you knowing about it.

Hey Bookworm...nice to meet ya!

Not quite sure yet, what I will be writing about. Maybe something conspiracy related...never can tell. I did have an idea not too long go about a presidental nominee who campaigns about all the necessary changes this country needs. The campaign turns out to be a huge turning point for the NWO theory.

Sounded like a fun story to write...but then it just sounded like a ton of research. Not something I'm into right now. LOL Also, didn't want to get on THEIR radar ;-)

My story might be slightly conspiracy related. But I'm not sure. The government is going to be after my MC's as well as the bad guys. So I might have some stuff about that in there. If only I could figure out what my antagonists want to get into... Private data collection companies might be a bit too easy. I mean, everyone talks about stealing credit card information and such. Any ideas for some profitable/useful/interesting information my antagonists might get my MC's to try to get to?

I just saw Eagle Eye. Loved it, even if it did rip off a couple of movies. I would drop names and such but I don't want to ruin anything.
Is it true that they can track you when your phone is off now? A while ago I heard that they could only track your phone by seeing which cell phone tower your cell was using (which wouldn't work if your cell was off). But I'm sure that's not a hard thing to change.

I loved 1984. My absolute favorite book. Orwell was a genius.

Hey, all!

I got a very interesting idea in a "pimp your plot" exercise that I want to use. The idea I started with was an alien dreaming about the arrival of the first human on their planet. Among many good ideas written down was one of a conspiracy theory about human beings on that planet.

Conspiracy theories are pretty complicated and I have traditionally written about species that do not know about humans until they actually arrive on planets, but the idea sounded pretty intriguing. I just now wonder how I am going to pull it off. Agggghhh!!!! What did I get myself into? THEY are INVADING my MIND! Who are THEY? Uh, I have no idea.

*Comes from the darkness, looking kinda scruffy-cough, cough Gasp, gasp* I am the only one that escaped from THEM. And do I have a tale to tell. But I can't. THEY will find out. *Twilight Zone music playing*

I saw Eagle Eye last night. Get's you to thinking when you realize that technology is here now.

Yes, they can hear you on your cell phones even when it's turned off. A few months back one of the phone companies annouced that their phones include that feature. This was on the mainstream news, on Yahoo.

All the political stuff that's been coming out in the past year is what gave me the NWO idea.

I don't know a lot about all the conspiracy stuff...just what little bit I've read, it's interesting and a bit scary. Interested in learning more, though.
