Hi there!

It's that time again! Time to stash your sanity away somewhere deep and dark, and get ready for November - the best month of every lunatic writer's year!

I'm Nim, the ML (municipal liaison) for the region known as Elsewhere, Arizona. If you live in the state of Arizona, but don't live in Tucson, Phoenix, Flagstaff, Prescott, or Patagonia, consider yourself a part of Elsewhere, Arizona. I'm very excited to get to know all of you, and to reacquaint with those of you I've already had the pleasure of meeting. (And maybe even luring inspiring someone to grab the NaNo bull by the horns and co-ML the region with me!)

Second only to November, is the wonderful, exciting, inspiring, magical month of October! As we begin this magnificent month of ideas, I just wanted you to know that I am here for you. Unless you live in or near Sierra Vista, we may never meet in person, but I will still do my best to help you with anything I can during the months of October and November. (Don't expect replies on December 1st. I'll be asleep!) When I get some time, I plan to create a chat room for online write-ins and general talk-so-I-don't-have-to-write sorts of activities. I've also established a Google Calendar to help keep track of things. (I'll see about getting that link to you asap.)

If you happen to live in Cochise County (or can get here with relative ease), we'll be having in-person write-ins as well. Since most of you do not live near to me, you are encouraged to put together local write-ins with others in your respective towns. If there's anything I can do to help you put that together, just holler.

As I said previously, my name is Nim. This is my fourth year as a writer in NaNoWriMo. I have won all three times that I've entered, and I think it's fair to call me a NaNo junkie. It is my third year as Elsewhere's ML. I have absolutely NO idea what I'm going to write about this year. If you know me, you know that's typical. I often go the entire month of October with zero clue as to what I'm dedicating my November life to. I do think I'm going to keep it light-hearted this time. Maybe I'll re-write a fairy tale, or something equally fluffy. Whatever I do, I'm gonna have fun. I hope you do too!

So I guess that's it for the intro! How about introducing yourselves!

Well, because of the data base disc failure, I get to reintroduce myself! Yay!

Well, my name's Tiassale, but everyone I know calls me Tia. This is the third year that I've known about NaNo, my second year as a NaNo competitor, and I'm hoping it will be my first year to finish. Especially since I've had this idea since April. My head would explode if I waited any longer. The most you'll get out of me though is that it's scifi(-ish) and my main characters are Aki and Amy. I'm hoping to abuse frozen thin mints and frappuccinos for the month of November (not that I don't already...) and hog the computer from my family, which I do anyways... Hm. Well, I'm online a lot so if you're ever in the mood to chat or whatever, feel free to contact me. I swear I don't bite... That much. Just kidding.

I should probably go now. I have to take care of my forum and lure some unsuspecting members to the NaNo site. Did I mention that? No, I didn't. Well, I have a role playing forum, and we're becoming more active. It's tons of fun, so check out the link on my profile if you're interested.

See you all later!

+Tia

Hiya. I'm Raivyn. I'm from Page/Lake Powell waaaaaay up here by Utah. I don't know anyone else in Page that does NaNo. Last year I had one buddy but she went and moved so now I'm all alone, probably without another WriMo in about a 200 mile radius... *le sigh* Anyways, gathering ideas for this year. No clue what my plot is yet. Getting all my friends to come up with characters for me.

Hola, I'm Tara. I live in the Safford/Thatcher/Pima area.

This will be my third year doing NaNo. Hopefully I'll be able to win this year. *crosses fingers*

I have a basic plot for NaNo this year. So far, in my outlines, my mains are called, "Guy", "Girl", and "Best Friend." I'm tempted to just call them that, but I probably won't. That's what October is for.

I have no clue what my genre is yet, I haven't decided. I just know that some psychology terms and disorders are going to come into play.

Thankfully, I lucked out this year: I found another NaNo participant that happens to be in band with me, and also happens to be friends with some other friends. We're friends now, too. Yay! Renee, I tip my hat to you.

Anyways... that's all I can think of to write here for now, aside from this: my main diet for November this year will probably consist of sunflower seeds, coffee, Coke, and Easy Mac. Woot.

Hello everyone. My name is Jaime, I'm 25, and I'm also in Safford/Thatcher/Pima (just moved here from Tempe a little under two months ago.) This is my first NaNoWriMo! I've wanted to do it for many years, but previously having both a full-time job and full-time school schedule kept me procrastinating until this year, where employment is currently on the back burner.

I have chosen a plot that I've been playing with for a few years, but I'm trying not to think about it much before November so it's more spontaneous. The longest piece of fiction I've ever written falls just around five pages, so 175 is going to be a challenge for me. I'm looking forward to it =)

Greetings! Alan here from Palominas (near Sierra Vista/Bisbee). First time for me with NaNo. A good friend of mine has been a participant for several years and has finally twisted my arm full-circle. Kidding...this is the first year I may actually be able to make the time. Looking forward to trying. Alan

I'm Renee(hey, Tara). I'm a student going to school in the Pima/Thatcher/Safford area. This will be my third year participating in the craziness that is NaNo. Hopefully, I'll be able to pass like I did with last year's.

It looks like there'll be a few of us in the area participating in NaNo, which I'm excited for. Maybe a little Pima/Thatcher/Safford get-together should be called together at some point...

I'm very anxious to get through planning this year's NaNo, mine will be, interestingly enough, the prequel to what I did last year.

In curiosity, does anyone else find that they can't seem to ever formulate a certain type of character? I just can't seem to get a good group of female characters for my original fiction to save the life of me. Seriously. ...Granted, I'll be writing about a war this year, but I am a young women and all I seem to write about men around a decade older than me. No one's complained so far(not that many have read my stuff), but I wonder if they're something wrong with me. Or I could just be really good at getting into character.

Character development is my biggest challenge for sure. I also tend to write from the PoV of men, even though I'm a woman. Who knows!!

I'm sure down for a Safford/Thatcher/Pima write-in, though I've never done anything like that before (I'm rather solitary.)

My name is Joan. I live in Star Valley (5 miles from Payson), Arizona. I'm back for my third year. I only won the first year, but got a great start on manuscripts the other two. I plan to win again this year and have a story planned (outlined). It's a YA fantasy. Main characters are Scarlet and Oren. I'm excited and looking forward to November.

I'm using October to research some of the details I'll need to write my novel this year as well as catch up on the housework I'll be happily neglecting during November.

I've never met any Nanoers from my area so as far as I know, I'm all alone, too. But only physically alone, 'cause you guys are with me in spirit, right?

Are you still looking for a co-ML, Nim? What does one do?

To plastikjack-

Glad to know someone else does too. ^^

I've never done one either. The hardest part would probably be finding somewhere to gather. There's not a lot of places over here. Heh.

Hi Everyone. I'm Samantha (aka falwyn) and I live in the San Pedro valley, in Cochise County. I've NaNo'ed for three years now, and though I've learned a lot each time, I've yet to win. I'd really, really love to get together with other NaNoers for some let's write together sessions, preferably without driving all the way to Tucson or Sierra Vista.

If you live in Benson, Saint David, Pomerene or thereabouts, I'd love to hear from you and set up a time and place to meet.

Hi!! This is my second time doing Nano; I did it last year. I am a college student at AWC in Yuma, Az. I did not finish-ok i hardly wrote anything because of homework! I debating if I should do it this year. I love writing and reading teen/ YA fiction. I am currently writing two/three stories in very (little) spare time. I heard about Nano from one of my favorite authors Ally Carter. Well that's my intro.

If we all go to EA, there's an easy answer =) On campus somewhere. Personally I'm a library nerd and they have nice study rooms there.

This is my first year doing NaNo and I couldn't be more excited. Each day I get more things to boost my writing energy and get me even more prepared (downloaded yWriter which is amazing and just bought a characterization book). Not only is this my first NaNo but my first completed (hopefully) book as well. I've had many starts and no finishes so I'm looking to finally break that spell.

Nice to meet everyone!

So I'm reassigning myslef as an Elsewhere! I'm Teri by the way, and this will be my second year doing nano. I did win last year, even though my page is devoid of a merit badge, and hoping to round up a second 50k this year. I'm coming to you all from Maricopa, caught between Tucson and Phoenix, most people think Maricopa is just a county. Anyone else from the 'copa?

Not quite 200 miles, but nearly...I live in Chinle, AZ. I try going to the Flagstaff group's stuff, but often it's not convenient for me to drive three hours to get there, do the stuf there, then drive the three hours back home...

Hello to all you "Elsewheres" -- add me to the group.

I'm George and live in Pine, about 15 miles north of Payson. This will be my third year (won both before, whoooeee!) and am looking forward, barely able to keep my fingers from starting the novel I have planned.

I belong to two writer's groups in Payson -- Rim Country Writers who meet at the Rimside Coffee place and in Pine, and Payson Area Writers which meets at the Red Elephant. I write suspense/mystery (a current WIP is stalled, might have to change from 1st person POV to 3rd to make it work), romantic comedy (script for ScriptFrenzy), erotic fiction (this year's NaNo), and even some poetry (one piece will be published in an anthology published by the Payson Area Writers group).

As Nim said, "Whatever I do, I'm gonna have fun." That's the way it should be.

Write on, but wait for November 1.

It's so great to hear from everyone! I can feel the energy rising. Sixteen days and counting!

Alan, we are neighbors. Maybe your friend (who is it??) can twist your (other) arm and get you to come out to a write-in at the SV library sometime?

We will be having online write-ins too. I still haven't secured a chat space for us, but it's been a matter of time rather than resources. I'll get it done.

And, Joan... ML'ing is eeeeeasy peasy... I will be PM'ing you. :)

Keep the intros coming!

Heyo, I'm Stephanie (though I've been Kallysti for so long, I answer to that too now =P) and I live in Kingman.

This is my second year doing NaNo. Last year I flew past the 50k mark & kept right on going. Think it ended at 72k or so (and now I'm about halfway through the editing process, lol) Last year I took two characters & a setting & took off running, worked like a charm. Outlines are my doom...knowing the end is as much as I can handle (and I don't even like to know it right off the bat).

I'll be in the Fantasy section for the most part...I have a whole world to write in there =D Last year's story was an assassin falling in love with his target. This year's is a mercenary & a bard/diplomat during an open rebellion. This is gonna be fun!

I'm chomping at the bit for this one...

Hello my name is Lindsey, been lurking on NaNo for a year or two since I did an article on it for our local newspaper here in Arizona in Maricopa, Arizona. I've been a creative fiction writer since the age of 6, but have found it difficult to get back on the wagon after working as a journalist ever since college.

I haven't had the gumption to write anything of any substance in some time, yet I always do my best under the gun....then again, being a staunch perfectionist, I found participating in this last year difficult and I had to give up after the third day :p

I am hoping to change those stars!

I'm fantasy slash gothic slash paranormal, while adding a dash of "Carnivale" and "Dan in Real Life" rolled into one busy ball of confusion. I love fiction, but I often find my stories come to me in screenplay form. I watch too much tv, apparently. :p

If anybody's in the CG area, give me a holler. Strength in numbers, people!

LG

So my story that I (might) be writing this year is called (so called) STOLEN. The theme is: She steals cars, he stoled her heart. Basically its about this girl (Ihaven't decided a name yet but I'm leaning towards Kat; but I want it to be a unique name, I'm open for suggestions) who steals cars for her dads company/or she has to finish her dads job and she tries not to fall in love with this guy. Think fast and furious movies meets gone in 60 seconds.

So any suggestions for names for characters/title????

Hi, Fictiongirl21, i see you are in Yuma. I was born in San Luis Sonora in Mexico and i go to Yuma frequently. I know many people who have studied there in the AWC, and been there several times.

I live now in Baja California, Mexico, but still go to Yuma. Please tell me if there's any gathering for the NaNoWriMo.

BTW u can add me as buddy if u want, or anyone near.

I think i'll try to write something between YA and Chick Lit, hehe.

Well, it's my first NaNo, this event isn't very known around here. Anyway i published an article bout it at a local newspaper in my hometown and seems like there are some people interested in joining.

Hope to hear more from you. =)

Hi All,

Am writing from Sierra Vista - would be fun to get together at the SV library and meet up with some fellow writers. Wouldn't mind meeting up in your neck of the woods too, Samantha. Weekdays, except Monday, are best for me. How about the rest of your schedules?

Have a great day!

Hi, everyone, I'm Jeanne!

I think some event in the Safford/Thatcher/Pima area is definitely in order--I'm from here, too.

This year is my second stab at Nano- last year I wrote 253 words and had a panic attack that I'd never be able to keep up with all my classes. I'm trying again this year, and I'm really going to stick with it this time! I have no idea what I'm going to write about, and I have no idea how I'm going to be able to keep up with my literature class (two papers due in November) as well as my Short Story class (one 7 page short story due in November), but I'm still going for it. Don't let me freak out this time, guys (and I mean you, Renee)!

Don't worry, I'm in the same boat as you. I have one paper and one oral report due in world lit at the end of November, a research paper due in my drama class, and lots of tests in between. Oh, and I'm job hunting! We'll survive, I hope :) I'm going to try and use this next weekend to get ahead on everything and hopefully keep November as dedicated to NaNo as possible. It's kinda of a tough deal for students, huh? A few weeks before finals?! Craziness.
