Here we go again!
This will be my 3rd year participating in NaNoWriMo. I won two years ago, with about a week to spare! Last year, I didn't finish, but I think I had a good reason...I was in a pretty serious relationship with my girlfriend who I can now proudly call my wife!
Being a newly-wed, we'll see if I'll be able to get enough time to participate this year. We're still working on moving her into my house and trying to get life figured out. Of course, if I can get her to participate...... ;-)
We should do a kick-off get-together. Last year was pretty fun meeting at Elevated Ice Cream...that's got my vote again.
Anybody new from Port Townsend? Anybody returning? I can't wait to catch up with ya'll!

Yo, Ryan! Congrats on the marriage. Absolutely you should talk her into participating; the more the merrier! And you've got a whole month to get squared away still--plenty of time.

My hey-howdy got eaten by the server crash, so try 2 for me. :)
This will be my 3rd nano attempt, the first a win (twice, 50k then 69k) in 2004, only made 15k in 2005. I have two kiddos, one who just started kindergarten and the other who caused my 2006/2007 break, since he's 2 and was born August 2006. We were half way through November 2006 before I even realized it was November and I needed an idea. :) I've been a planning fiend thus far this year, so we'll see how well knowing what I'm doing will help me work around kid schedules.

Hello everyone,
I Nano'd last year from Ocean Shores, but didn't make my goal because I had to pack and move mid-month up here to PT. Looking forward to all the fun, and making the goal this year.

I'm new to Nano! This will be my first try after chickening out the last few years....It's nice to know that there are others in PT that are Nano-ing as well. Good luck, everyone!

Hi Port Townsend Wrimos,
I am new to this and am doing it as sort of a test of perseverence and craziness! I am off to a good start and am looking forward to the challenge.
Good Luck to All!

Welcome all,
This is my first time at NaNoWriMo. Glad to see that there are others from PT here, though I'm not surprised. May we all be showered with enough words.

Hey you all,
I only just now signed up, which means I'm trying to write my first ever novel in [gulp] 21 days. Oh well. I've had a dastardly cold and just could not bring myself to begin. Hope to catch up to y'all fast! We'll see.
Yours in the love of words,
DDW
Any meeting planned? If nothing else, we could get together after for war stories...?

Anybody interested in meeting next week? Elevated or either library?

I'm game for a meet up. Might do me some good to get out of the circus that is my house. Somewhere with coffee is preferred on my end....

Elevated might be better than the libraries. Better refreshments! We've also met at the Uptown Pub, which is fine if we're all old enough

Time's running out! Phoenix, you're giving me inspiration...because I know the past two years how you came so far from behind and still finished on time. I've fallen way behind my word count this month...good thing there is still 10 more days left!

Heh. Yeah, I fully expect to finish again this year, too. I'll admit, I'm feeling more comfortable than usual because I'm using MacDictate now. I dictate way faster than I type, and with much, much less pain afterward. Which made me feel less concerned about scrapping the first two things I started and beginning all over two days ago.
So yeah--plenty of time!
Go, Ryan!

Thanks for those posts you all. This is my first – long story and NaNoWriMo – and I still haven't quite broken 10K, but really want to write this through!
So I'm grateful to hear of others who came up fast from behind in the past, especially since my 2 writing buddies (the ones who are writing, anyway) are both over 30K.
So good luck back at you, Ryan, Phoenix, and all y'all.

OK, looks like we're going to neck & neck it, Phoenix. Good deal, and good luck on down to the finish.
So you're friends of "Fiddlehead"?
And somebody told Jake I was doing this; saw him @ Paradise Theatre show & he gave mighty encouragements. Guess he finished one last year?
Love of words to all y'all.

Whew! I didn't think I'd make it, but I wrote 6600 words this afternoon and evening. Under 4,000 to go!!! Time to go to bed (1:45am right now) and finish it up tomorrow afternoon.
I really don't like my story this year. It sort of fell apart around the 30,000 word mark and I had to do a huge shift in direction. Pretty much all new characters picking up some shattered pieces of the old storyline. It's definitely going to need a rewrite someday. But you know what...that's not what matters right now. All that matters to me is that I finish. :-)
Good luck on the final 22.25 hours left, everybody!

Well, this was easily the worst NaNovel I've ever written. But it's still by gum a whopping chunk of prose that I wrote, not just one I nattered about writing someday, and isn't that the point, after all?
Woots!
You're all but done, Ryan--just one last push now!

CONGRATULATIONS, YOU ALL.

Congrats mydiylifer!!!!!!
I'm free most of the week....busy tonight and Wednesday night though.
Just to get the discussion rolling, I propose: Elevated Ice Cream on Dec 6, 1:00pm. How does that sound to ya'll? I'm totally not married to the idea, so if that doesn't work for everybody then let's change it around.
