[STICKY] Important - Bute trip change of plans and sign up

Hi guys,

Ok as the early ferry is too early for some travel plans are changed to:

Meeting under the clock at Glasgow Central no later than 8.40 for the train leaving Glasgow Central at 8.50

Train arrives in Wemyss bay at 9.40 so if those who are making their own way can please meet us at the train station.

Ferry leaves Wemyss bay at 10.15 and arrives at 10.50.

**Important**

If you do not reply to this post we'll assume you arent coming. This is so we know numbers and dont leave people behind stranded.

Everyone is very welcome and bring friends, family, teachers etc

We will be eating at Bute and will likely see a bit of the island also

Hi all,

Its our aim in this post to give dates and times for write-ins and other events. Please feel free to let us know if you can attend. My mobile number for anyone who needs it is 07847279312 and i'll ensure there is a sign on the table of the meets for anyone who is new.

Our first meet is going to be Monday 27th October at 7pm for 7.30 in Mono. At this meet we'll get a chance to say hi to everyone, find out what everyone's plans are and hey maybe play a game or two :) Hopefully you can come along!

Further meet days and times to come but we're aiming for twice a week at least so watch this space

Help! Anyone?

So this is probably just me missing the obvious, but I want to be part of the group meeting regularly throughout '09, but can't seem to find where the information about it is. If anyone could point me in the right cyber-direction, I'd be eternally grateful.

Also, if you do, could you please explain the way you would to a small child or a person who just stepped through a time rift from the 18th century, I'm useless with technology to the point that I'm amazed I was able to post this, assuming I did since you're reading this.

Hi folks!

Just to let people know, a few of us are going to be in Mono at 2.00 tomorrow (Sunday the 14th) to chew fat (metaphorical only to avoid offense) and possibly do a bit of early-doors editing of our Materpieces-to-be.

Feel free to join us, and despair at how much work still needs to be done :P

In other news, my flat now contains an enormous Christmas tree, which makes me very, very happy :D

Good Morning Scotland!

I have to tell you I am in a group of very happy ML's.

YOU FOLKS ROCK!

Seriously last year Scotland had an overall finish rate of 23%. Now that isn't bad.

But this year as a whole we did 31%!

474 people claim Scotland as their home. 149 of them have a purple bar.

I'll get the final stats in a few days from HQ. But my informal survey shows:

World - 119390 signed up - 21400 finished = 18%

For the new regions in Scotland

Aberdeen - 31 signed up - 13 finished = 42%

Dundee - 16 signed up - 2 finished = 12.5%

Edinburgh - 102 signed up - 41 finished = 40%

Fife - 14 signed up - 4 finished = 28.5%

Glasgow - 104 signed up - 31 finished = 30%

Isle of Skye - 8 signed up - 6 finished = 75%

Perth, I'm having trouble separating from Australia so I'll get back with those numbers.

Please reply to this post saying if you can make a meet-up on the 1st, 3rd or both. If you can do both please say this and if you can only do one say this too. I've been contacted by a couple who put down the 3rd but can do the 1st also so I want to confirm numbers. Please do this as soon as possible so I can book.

Motivational quotes and anti procrastination ideas

Hi guys,

I thought it might be a nice idea to have a thread with some motivational quotes and anti procrastination ideas for those times when you really dont feel like writing or the weather outside is making you think thoughts non related to Nano in any way.

I'll start and please post yours.

1. Set realistic goals - Now fair enough its nano month so realistic goals dont really exist this month but instead of aiming to write 1667 words every day perhaps aim for 1000 during the week and 3335 on Saturday and Sunday?

2. Make a commitment, to yourself, on when you'll write and put it in your diary. If you are like me if someone is not in your diary it doesnt exist. So when going to the gym I put it in my google calendar to 1. remind me to go and 2. not to overbook myself. There is a google calendar for this area so this might help

Lets face it noone makes us do Nano. We do it because its fun. So when you're feeling like you have too much to do how about letting one household task slide and concentrate on Nano instead? (I live alone and am allowed to say this)

Hi guys,

While we were in Bute yesterday I asked people for suggestions as to how best to keep in touch. The solution we came up with was to form a livejournal group (for free) which you can post to. Livejournal is a free site and its really easy to use but if you need help just yell and one of the many of us who already use it can help.

Please feel free to take part in this community from now though I imagine it will be busier come December. I'm going to post a poll to get opinions on the best day to meet up during the week and hopefully it will allow the group to grow as we get ready for next year.

Regular monthly / fortnightly meetings

Hi guys,

This has been discussed a couple of times before but i'm looking at it more seriously today so looking for feedback.

Would anyone be interested in regular fortnightly and/or monthly meet-ups. These would give us a chance to plan next year, edit our nano from this year, start to think about next year's nano and hopefully have fun through the year.

This site closes so it would be ran seperately - possibly on meetup.com because thats what I've most experience of

Let me know your thoughts please and we can discuss what day / date / time etc suits also.

What i'm thinking is we have 2 meets a month. One on saturday afternoons and one at a night during the week (possibly Wednesday).

Opinions? Thoughts?

(yes this is what I do when i'm bored and ill - I plan)

Currently there are four of us in Mono. Three of us definitely cannot make the TGIO meetup on the 5th due to being out of the country at the time so we're planning on planning an alternative meet up on Monday the 1st. Anyone is welcome to join us, some of you crazy kids might even want to go to both post Nano TGIOs meet-ups. Party animals......

Anyway, suggestions as to where can be posted here. Do we want to say goodbye to Mono ot the 13th Note? Do we want to risk random story tellers in Tchai Ovna? Does anyone have an alternate preference?
