Auburn? Grass Valley? Nevada City? Colfax? Truckee?

Last year there was a pretty good-sized group of locals - there were even weekly meetups at Cafe Mekka. I was so disappointed I had to miss them, and I am determined this year to go to all the local meetups I can!

So who else will be local and loco in November?

That would be me. I might have trouble making it to the meetings, but I hope I can swing at least a few!

I'm in Meadow Vista, not really sure whether to affiliate myself with this region or the Sac region. So I'll just hover between the two, probably. *waves*

Oh, and Cafe Mekka would be a great meeting place for me. I bet I could get my mom to drive me that far, as opposed to Sacramento or Roseville. :P

Yeah, Cafe Mekka is great, and the local bus system is really great too. Makes it really easy to get around Nevada City, Grass Valley, etc.

I can walk to Mekka on Friday nights and meet y'all or you can hoof it up the hill to my secluded, Michel Montaigne Memorial Digital Cottage. Somebody phone me: Sunflower 632-2062

Hey, there's no reason you can't sit in both forums. We'd love it if you associate with us because then your wordcount gets counted with us, but it's totally your call.

The area's big. We can use all the help we can get.

Yes, we need a kick-off party! I posted about this in the Sacramento forum too (under the Grass Valley topic). What are some good locations? Maybe somewhere in Auburn? Or I know of a cafe in Meadow Vista, not sure about wi-fi though...

[EDIT] Oh yeah, just remembered that there was some talk about Cafe Mekka. So that's an idea too. :P

[ANOTHER EDIT] Cafe Vista in Meadow Vista does, indeed, have free wi-fi.

I was doing the arranging last year, and I'd be absolutely delighted to attend more NaNo gatherings this year. It ended up being mostly me and my group of friends doing NaNo attending the gatherings (which was a lot of fun), but this year I'd love to make some new writerly friends as well! Let me know if anything is arranged, and I'd be fine with helping to arrange as well if it's needed.

We found last year it was good to find a set time and place to meet weekly, so if we wanted to do that (in addition to a start-up and finish party, perhaps?) that might be a good system. Last year we figured out some games to play surrounding our novels and had discussion topics and such and we had absolutely the best time. It was a huge energy boost that helped us all keep writing.

Anyway, looking forward to this, and I have at least two friends also doing NaNo who I'll bring along to anything we plan!

Friday nights at Mekka were what we did last year, and it was a great location. I'm walking distance from Mekka as well, so that might be a great place to have our kick-off party and various other November gatherings. Perhaps Friday nights during November, in addition to a kick-off party and end of the month party?

All right everyone! I'm hoping to get a write-in scheduled! So here's what I'm thinking so far:

Date: Friday, November 7th
Time: 7 PM until whenever we feel it's time to leave.
Place: Cafe Mekka in downtown Nevada City

I sent NaNo mail to everyone in this thread as well on this subject. Please let me know, either in this thread, through NaNo mail, or at my e-mail (phoenixfreedom AT yahoo.com) whether you'd be able to make it to this write-in at this place and time. If not, let me know what might be a better time for you.

I hope to hear from all of you so we can get something fun going! Let's get to know our fellow writers and have a good time talking about our novels and our experiences so far!

I hope you can all make it~

I'll be there and I'll pass the word along to other local NaNos I know!

I was concerned about how many of our writers joined the Sac forum too, though sine it's an hour and a half away, we really should have our own Grass Valley/Nevada City group.

I'm afraid I'll be at a birthday dinner party on Friday. But for future reference, I don't have a laptop, so if I come, it'll be the good ol' notebook for me, haha. And, Miss PacificPikachu, my friend, do you know the Mecca menu very well? You know me and my love of food. I'm just curious if I can get dinner there one of the nights possibly.

Ay! I live in nevada City! And I guess I'm doing this. Apparently. I'd be interested in meeting, even though I'm terrified of Mekka. Maybe when I'm a novelist, I won't feel so judged. :)

Also, what is a write-in? Forgive me, I'm new.

Hello, and welcome!

You should definitely join us at Mekka this upcoming Friday at 7 PM! No need to be intimidated--it's fun when you're with a group of awesome novelists!

A write-in is basically where we get together and...well, write! And talk about how our NaNo experience has been so far, and get to know each other and offer support, encouragement, and basically just have a grand time. Lots of fun to be had. :) I hope you're able to make it on Friday! We need all the people we can get.

Will we be having another get-together on THIS Friday? Because I don't have to work until 8, so i was thinking I could come for a while. Funsies!
