Hi Ellis County!
I live in Arlington, but have family in Stephenville. I am planning to write for NaNo this year (I made the goal last year!) but this year is kinda up in the air, with only one computer for the whole family to fight over right now.
I will be in Stephenville over the Thanksgiving weekend and if anyone is writing or getting together, I'd be interested in trying to take a break from family to join you!

Hello to you too, I'm in Cedar Hill but Ellis County is just a few miles down the road.
I've planned a get together for the 30th of October, Couldn't make the kick off party for the DFW sector. Would love to meet you and anyone else willing to make the drive.
We'll be at the Oasis on Joe Pool Lake, from 7:00 until we get tired of talking
If you need directions, NaNo-mail me and I'll get you the address.

Hi! I signed up for this on a whim, I'm not really sure how well I'll do, but the idea is intrigiuing.
I'm in Waxahachie, but unfortunately probably won't get to any get togethers because I'm usually at work in the evenings. I'd love to hear how other people get started, I don't really have more than just some very rough ideas floating around, so I'm not sure how well I'll be able to progress from there. Does everyone usually have outlines to start out with? Or do other people just kind of fly by the seat of their pants, so to speak? I'm probably going to look for a copy of No Plot, No Problem sometime in the next few days, to see if that gives me any better ideas, and if anyone has suggestions of other books/websites/whatever that might be helpful, I'd be interested to hear them.
Thanks!
Shannon

This is my 5th year doing NaNo and I have yet to write an outline. Never did me any good because the stories go off on their own anyway.
AS for meeting up, I'm not far from you and I write from home. If you ever feel the need to meet up for a day of writing, let me know, We could meet up somewhere in the middle.

Like others, I joined this on a whim. All my publishing has been non-fiction, but i've had that "novel-wish" floating around for ... on geez ... years and years.
What has often frustrated me is reading bad fiction. There's a lot of it out there, and when I read it I think "Someone got paid an advance for this dreck. Couldn't I do better?"
Well, yes. But, then I've not done it yet. Who knows? Maybe this whim will turn into something.
I'm in Waxahachie (have been for 20+ years now. If an Ellis County group wants to gel, I can provide a convenient location in Waxahachie to meet -- a church meeting hall with tables, chairs, small kitchen, etc.
