So...if I recall, last year there were quite a few of us around the Auraria campus at various points in time, trying and often failing to meet up and have on-campus write-ins. And, well, this is my last semester there (I'd be all woeful about this, but I am SO FLIPPING READY TO GET DONE WITH THIS USELESS TIME-CONSUMING DEGREE), so I figure this is my last chance to see if we can fix this problem and really set up an Auraria write-in group during NaNo.

I've contacted the campus library and the Tivoli about a space to write that is open to all the students on campus and is somewhat centrally located, since getting around campus was half the problem last year (when one write-in is going on on the north end of campus and people are in class on the far south end or vice versa, it's hard to get to where you want to be!), and both have been willing to set aside some space for us for an "official" write-it once a week. With the Tivoli it'd basically just be giving us permission to hijack part of one of the lounges without being kicked out for being loud and a boosted WiFi signal during the write-in time, whereas with the library we'd get an official location with lots of outlets or a power strip, but near-silence would of course be required. I'm thinking Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday in the afternoon at some point for a couple of hours...how does that sound for people? And which location would you prefer so I can get back to my contacts ASAP?

(There were two replies that disappeared when the site went down...so, taking those into consideration...)

All right! I've talked with the library and it seems like they're a lot more able to accomodate us than the Tivoli is; the Tivoli can't guarantee us which lounge we'd be in, but the library is willing to either set aside a space in the group study areas on the first floor or possibly even a classroom where we can be a bit more vocal if desired, depending on what time and day we choose, so I think we'll be going with them for this. The library is also willing to do two times a week for us as well, yay! Hopefully that will help with people finding some time in their crazy class schedules if they want to come.

Right now, I'm looking at doing an evening write-in on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30 or so, and then an earlier one around lunchtime (like any time between 11:00-2:30 or so) either on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday (I'm at work for 11 hours on Tuesdays, so alas, that's out). If there's any interest in a Friday one over any of the others (I know not all of us have class on Fridays, but who knows?), let me know and I'll look into that as a possibility as well. I'll post the official times and days on the calendar before the end of the month!

I can make the lunch write-in, definitely, but probably not the others - I am on campus on Fridays, but it's for work, from noon until six.

Wednesday evening would be wonderful for me since I get out of class at 3:45. So if we do that time, I'll probably show up when I remember. I could show up to a midday one around noon on Monday or Wednesday or for about thirty minutes on Thursday. I've got work after class, but I'm free from 1-1:30.

Okay, here's the scoop: I talked with the Tivoli about having one there and the other at the library, and the Tivoli people are being really weird about things now, so...we're just going with the library for both meets, and hoping the stand downstairs hasn't totally sold out of snacks on us! So here are the details:

What: The Auraria Write-In
When: Wednesdays from about 4:00-5:30 (we have the room from 3:30 till 5:30, I just won't be there till 4:00, so if you want to show up early, feel free!) AND Thursdays from 12:00-2:30
Where: The Auraria library, study room 205. ALL TO OURSELVES!
Rules: Let's keep the socialization to a minimum so that people who want to write can (and so we don't get kicked out of the library for being so loud the people in the quiet area can hear!)...however, socialization IS allowed, and there will probably be quite a bit of it during the first half hour, so be prepared!

The library MAY be able to change the Thursday time to a Monday or Friday, but Thursday was the day that they'd have a room open for us the whole month (except for Thanksgiving) and the other days of the week they only have open once or twice, so be forewarned that changing might mean fewer write-ins. And feel free to set up other meets of your own around campus if you can't make either of those!

I can do both! Only until 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, though, since I have class then.

If on Wednesday anyone would want to meet earlier (writing buddies or whatnot?), that'd be fantastic for me since I don't have class and will have to do an hour commute there and an hour back.. ^_^

I'm so excited!

I can make some of these times, but not others. I am too lazy to look at the calendar just now; I am freelancing for the CCD student newspaper (yes, CCD has a newspaper, but no one ever reads it); some of the staff meetings occur on Wednesdays. Basically, you will see me when I am available.

It definitely sounds better than the hit and miss of last year.

I'm glad you guys can make at least some of these! I tried to set them up so there were options for both evenings and afternoons, but alas, it's hard to match up with everyone's schedules, hooray for college, right? But if you can, stop on by, and for those of you who want to set up other times that match your schedule better, feel free to do so! Just let me know and I'll add it to the calendar for you so others can know what's going on ^_^.

Wow this sounds awesome...I think I can make it to the wednesday one. Mebbe. And I'll drag a friend along too. So I might awkwardly shuffle in...I've never been to a write in before.
