Like the KOP, it is never to early to start planning. ... Actually I wasn't talking about the story/plot/characters, I was talking about the necessities needed to be able to write. What do you always have around you to write? What are you using this year? Is it different from last year?

I'll post my own list, when I actually figure it out. But for starters:

-- MP3 with specific playlist
-- Alcohol/coffee (I'm 18 this year! :D )
-- Facebook
-- Livejournal
-- Nano forums
-- Inspiring wallpaper on desktop
-- A3 paper for note-taking/mindmapping
-- Car Keys + Car for the...
-- Gym/Swimming Pool for a break
-- BrisWrimo events.

And I've moved onto things I need to do to keep motivated - no! Just what you keep around you. :D

-- iPod with just about anything on it possible :XD: I have a 'rage' list made up this year so I can *gulp* get in the mind-set of a psychopath ^^; That oughta be fun LOL

-- Chocolate. LOTS of chocolate.

-- DeviantART (my salvation when it comes to procrastination ;) )

-- Notebook and sketchpad. Sometimes I need to draw a scenario to properly wrap my head around it.

-- My camera. It works well for both inspiration and procrastinating ^_^

Strangely enough - nothing different from last year ;) But why change a good thing? hehe

The fewer distractions for me, the better. ;)

- move the laptop into my bedroom
- iTunes on random, on the PC in the corner where I can't be fiddling with it. If I have time, I'll sort out a playlist.
- dangly toys within easy reach to amuse the kitten who will be chewing on my toes and demanding attention
- lots of sugarfree chewing gum so that I don't snack myself until I blimp
- the oodles of notes I've been scrabbling together over the past few months
- hopefully, fingers crossed, a few days off work for some long stretches of butt-aching writing

And that's it! So far.... ;)

Planned author-kit for this year includes -

--MP3 player, loaded up with all 51 of my soundtracks (from Disney's Atlantis to Van Helsing to The Phantom Of The Opera to Songs from Dawson's Creek 2 to Earth Girl Arjuna) so I have mood music for every possible occasion!
--Coffee and plenty of it
--Chocolate, ditto.
--My trusty Wii Fit, so when I can't write another word I can exercise until sitting back down at the keyboard sounds reeeaaal good.
--A microphone to take advantage of Vista's built-in voice-to-text program. Dictating will give the old RSI a rest.
--And new this year - an outline!

voice recorder on my mobile
msn for word wars

I wish i had a laptop, i really have to consider buying one for next year.

This is my first time at NaNo and the first I've done fiction writing in a very long time, so I'm feeling very rusty. Anyway, these are some of the "essentials" for me:

  • My MacBook Pro laptop for the actual writing
  • FreeMind : free mind-mapping software (runs on all major platforms btw)
  • Plenty of power naps!
  • A quiet place/time to write - most likely in the early morning or late night while the rest of the family is asleep.

My writing essentials list hasn't changed since I started nano

-ywriter software (free from http://www.spacejock.com/yWriter4_Download.html)
-laptop
-moleskin notebook for random jotting
-ipod + bose headphones
-fridge full of beer
-smokes depending on how the story is going
-big back deck to sit on while I type

The only things I'm currently lacking are ideas and oodles of free time.

Laptop
headphones (to plug into laptop so I can turn my music up and drown out the sounds of the kids killing each other)*
sheepskin (got to make the seat extra comfy- also means I can sit longer without loosing all sensation from the waist down)
bottle of spring water
snacks- lots of : )

Dream List:
Chef
Housekeeper
Chauffeur
Nanny
hmm... just think of all the extra words I could write then

Only 2 necessities: A script-writer, and a secretary. Then I can go ice-skate...I think I missed something somewhere along the line...

Same as last year:

-- Laptop full of music (there's some new music, though)
-- Word processor (may be difficult this year, as I have an unregistered copy)
-- Notebooks in every bag for writing while travelling
-- Bag of Starbursts in my desk
-- Many varities of tea (favourite this year: Lapsang Souchong. Mmm, smoky!)
-- Weird varities of drink (Guava juice, mmm. Dr Pepper ... what is that?)
-- Scrap paper to write word count/sketch characters etc.
-- Internet for NaNo boards

... I think that's it.

Hmm... I think I'll need...

- MP3 with four weeks supply of batteries
- Plenty of coffee and nibbles stashed under the desk.
- Every single album Anthony Warlow has ever done on my PC, so I won't freak out over not listening to his jazz version of Phantom.
- A gag for every member of the family
- Fully-charged Nintendo DS (for procrastinating moments)
- Daily planner (for word count opportunities!)

~Lots of music (preferably rock, screamy stuff and the odd Disney song :D)
~Coffee
Most importantly however, I need people to word war with...otherwise I'd never get anything done
