Am I losing it, or did all the Charlottesville people vanish from Virginia: Elsewhere??

Carolyn here in Cville...how do we get our own location status? I don't mind organizing if I have some info and resources. I depend on the write-ins!!

Hey Carolyn! Go to the "About" tab (or here http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1003232) and check that out. You might have to email them, but I know that "Hampton Roads" became their own last year when they had enough people participating to justify it. SO round up as many people as you can and ask away! ^_^

Also, I'm not a student but I walk my dog through UVA from time to time ... I could print out a couple of flyers and put them on some of the bulletin boards. I can't say if anyone will actually look at them, and it would be waaaay better if we had a UVA student who could contact the writing club (they've got to have one), but it can't hurt.

Hey All!

I'm Cheri; this will be my 4th year doing NaNo, but reached the 50K goal only once so far. Just like everyone, I have high hopes for this year!

It would be great if C'ville could get their own listing this year! Before the NaNo gods wiped the slate clean on 9/30, there was a thread in which someone from a new writer's facility in town was offering to host Write-ins, etc. Hopefully, they will show up again soon.

Good Luck to Everybody!

Hey Carolyn!

Here's a link: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1003232

I can help a wee bit, but I can't be the official ML. That would be awesome if you wanted to rock that!

I'm here. Before the boards got wiped I had offered WriterHouse (behind Preston Ave Bodos) as a Headquarters for the Charlottesville area. I would volunteer to be Municipal Liaison, but I haven't participated before, so am ineligible. WriterHouse will offer the following to area NaNoWriMo people:

1. Access to our facilities during our regular open hours (usually only available to members)
2. Extra open hours just for NaNoWriMo (to be determined--let's figure that out together)
3. Launch party/ending party
4. Anything else that would be helpful?

WriterHouse is a non-profit organization.

I've also set up a Charlottesville mailing list. Info at our blog: www.writerhouse.org/blogs

So, who wants to work on setting up a schedule for mass writing times?

Hi C-ville Wrimos! I agree! You all need your own place to call home. In fact, I heard rumor that they are trying to get rid of all the "Elsewheres" and give identities to all those who don't quite fit in the existing regions. So all you need is a volunteer to act as ML. It really isn't that big of a deal. The hardest part is trying to please everyone all the time. Especially if you are at one end of a long skinny region like ours. (Shenandoah Valley) With a tight knit group it works out fine but as new people join they sometimes have higher expectations and you just can't be everywhere all the time. Anyway, I hope that someone is able to step up and volunteer as ML and start a new region. If you need any help at all with setting up the calendar or organizing events, just ask!

That being said, I have a proposition for you if you are interested. I would love to welcome you to join our region. You can make it your permanent home or a temporary one until you find someone who wants to take on the responsibilities of ML. All you would need is for one person...maybe someone who is considering life as an ML and wants to get their feet wet first...to be the Point of Contact for C-ville. I already posted a Help Wanted for POCs on the Shenandoah Valley forum and even made a special invite to anyone in the C-ville area that might be interested. Basically you would set up your write-ins like you already are and then send me an email and I would add the events to our calendar as C-ville Write-ins. You can post to the forums and attract other C-ville Wrimos.

What do you think? Either way I am here to help if you need it. Just let me know!

Hello C-Ville Wrimos!

I just wanted to let you know that Runkefer has volunteered to be a Point of Contact (POC) for the greater Charlottesville area within the Shenandoah Valley region of Virginia. Come on over to say hello and introduce yourselves. We want you to know that all Charlottesville Wrimos are welcome to join our region and stay as long as you like. We look forward to posting your events on our calender and chatting with you in the forums!

Happy Noveling!

There's at least one other UVA first year (not me!) -- we're hanging out over in the Shenandoah forums right now.

Here's the Charlottesville-dominated introduction thread (though I don't see half of our Cville types, yet).

And we are having a kickoff on Nov 1st!

Our meetings in Cville will probably center around WriterHouse, which is nearby. Here's a link for their hours.

Looking forward to seeing you all, hooray!

I live in Illinois but my husband will be doing an away clerkship at UVA starting next week. We will be leaving charlottesville just before thanksgiving.
I'm excited for my first really emotionally invested nano.

I'm from Staunton, but usually lurk in the Charlottesville message board :) This is my seventh year doing NaNo and just uploaded my content for my winner's certificate. Five of my NaNo projects are published and my publisher is waiting for this one :) NaNo is a great way to get a jump on a new project :) Best wishes to everyone.

Hi there,
This is my first year doing NaNoWrimo and I finished my 50,000 and was very happy with that. What is next? Do the winners now have a working manuscript to begin reworking with and then look to find an agent? How does it work? It was very worthwhile, and that in itself is a reward..just to know that perseverance gets the job done.
