Don't worry - I'll repost this again closer to the actual date. But now you can see that you're happy MLs are actually doing something!

We have planned to have the kick-off in Newark at the University of Delaware's Trabant Food Court. This will be 11/1 (Saturday) at 230pm. Fun and games to be had by all, prizes to be had by ME... no wait, not by me but by others. So come on out and join us. What better way to start off a month of heavy writing then by hanging out with other people just as crazy as you?

And afterwards, for those that can't join us or for those that don't want the party to end, we'll be having an all-night write-in online - most likely on AIM chat, but we can certainly do a chat on yahoo or somesuch if its better for others (please chime in with suggestions!). Fun, madness, and lack of sleep - what could be better?

I dunno, my Saturdays are usually pretty busy - I have a lot of sleeping to do, but I reckon I'll be there, because I love y'all so much! :-)

Looking forward to it. I have AIM, MSN, and can DL Yahoo! Messenger if needed, so I'm set for both parts! Hope to see everyone there!

I am sorry to see that you are planning the kick-off party and all of the write-ins in the evening
as has been done in previous years.
Since I am dependent on Dart bus transportation, I won't be there--in body--but I wish you all well!

WELL-WISH TO ALL DE WRIMOS!!!

I don't think I have the kids that weekend so I might be able to make it.

Treelady - I apologize!!! I will talk to Amber and see if maybe we can move the kick-off a little earlier in the day - and will try to set up a few write-ins differently. Do Saturdays in general work for you, if we did a saturday early afternoon write-in?

An earlier start is fine by me. I may not make it right away, but I think it's fine. Should we shoot for like 2 or 3ish? I know DART stops running around 7 pm on Saturdays, so just let us know. :-) What does everyone else think?

I tried to answer this earlier. Hm.

Yes, 2-3 pm would work for me but don't change if you lose more people than you gain.

Thanks!

2-3 p.m is good for me; I've never attended one of these events; it might NOT be so scary to meet new people, lol.

And for those who can't attend, we will still hold some "online" events afterwards.

Question: By "Food Court" you mean right in the middle of the place where every one walks through, not one of those creepy little meeting rooms they have tucked back in there, yes? I'm sure it'll be painfully obvious when I get their, I'm just making sure.

Yes, the main food court area, most likely in that corner towards East Delaware Ave (since it's a bunch of long tables near the wall and probably has a decent set of plugs), but we'll see when we get there. Hopefully the food court won't be too crowded.

AAAAARRRRRGHHHHHH!
You're having the kick-off party at the same time as the Delaware Book Festival in Dover!!!! I'm good at budgeting my time, but I'm not sure I can be in two places at once!! Rats!!! And I'm not the "Star Trek" fan, my boyfriend (a fellow writer - we met at the writer's support group I run at the Kent County Public Library,) is. So, any suggestions on how I/we can make both of these events?
This is my first year trying this challenge. I'm looking forward to it. Now, if I just had a good idea or two for a novel.....

You're not required to attend all of the events, so don't be worried, you won't be penalized or anything for missing this. I know, I was really disappointed when I realized the scheduling conflict (and more disappointed when I realized how small the Book Festival is compared to last year in terms of workshops, even if they do have a nice list of authors. :-( ) The time says we'll be at Trabant from 2:30-6:30 or something I believe, but knowing this group, we'll probably be around past that, seeing how late we tended to haunt Panera last year. :-) Don't push yourself, but we'd love to have you if you're up to coming after the book festival!

=( No puedo on Saturday at Trabant, that sucks. I'll kick some of my friends in the arse and get them to come down! I didn't make ANYTHING last year and I felt like a total tool but I really want to participate as much as possible this time around because *deep breath* I be 8 months preggers. Heh ^_^;; So. This is my last hurrah before baby takes over my life! How is the night time festivity going to work as far as chat rooms go?
